OZ elections soon!
APB31-Mar-25 05:01 pm
Under a two party system...both parties try and point out any differences...as it get closer to the date they both sound the same...they both promise things they cannot deliver..and if voted in they totally fail to deliver..please vote for anybody else!...they are complacent and arrogant...and really need a massive shock...both of them! (failed promises need a short prison term too...anyone who introduces that law gets my vote)...so tired of all the lies and deceit on both sides...its a gravy train that needs derailing....

I have put in a blank ballot paper last 2 elections, and I am happy with that.

check out Juice Media on You Tube..particularly The "last Democratic election in Australia" one...VERY interesting...this election may be the one worth paying attention to.....I'm picking up similar vibes on the Insiders on ABC...and a new show called Swingers on the ABC too.....if you don't want the American System vote carefully...Goofy and Pluto still just EXPECT your vote...as a foregone conclusion....this is massive arrogance on both sides.....they think you HAVE to choose between one of them....well just don't give it to them....at all... you DON'T have to choose between two shit options....vote for somebody else

The Australian Prime Minister gets Paid DOUBLE what the UK Prime Minister gets paid..I'm not sure what he does between elections...but it would be a hell of lot less than his UK counterpart...who being fair does have to work hard...that probably applies to all his fat and well paid friends in Canberra...and the endless repetition of the same jobs in every State...when it could be one department..I hear Elon Musk is looking for a new job....it would not be hard to find MASSIVE cost cutting...what? they approve their own pay rises????..are you guys totally insane?

I honestly haven't been this excited about an Election in years..we really have the chance to bring down the two party system...perhaps our last chance...let's just beat them eh?...WE CAN BEAT THEM and stop choosing between who is the less shit candidate...they talk to you like you are children...aren't you insulted?...they both run negative campaigns "I know we are shit but these guys are worse" that is no way to govern a country OR run for office...its up to you guys...VOTE..stamp all over them...as they do to you...

All elected governments (and city councils) are exactly the same. That's why I don't even bother voting, since there's no point in voting for one useless idiot over another useless idiot. Either way you end up with the same result - nothing actually useful is ever done, over-hyped promises are broken, and piles of tax-payer money is wasted. 🙄

Forcing people to vote (or simply scribble over and void the voting paper) makes a complete mockery of the system of so-called "democracy". It should be up to the individual person who they vote for or to not vote at all, and whichever they do is a private and anonymous decision. If they're ever stupid enough to enforce voting in New Zealand, I'll simply put the blank voting paper into the ballot box, wasting as little of my time as possible.

if you describe a person as honorable, can you really associate that title with a politician,i think not it should be a title earned not given, i know there are a few good guys/girls out there, who go into politics with great intentions but the system is so floored, that finding an honest person in politics is like finding a treasure chest full of gold in the middle of the street, im voting independent, so sick of the other 2 and there banter

We can achieve a change, it will take a couple of elections but we must make an effort. This election I will be voting for Senator Rennick in the Senate (Qld). His "People First" party has several candidates in other states both in the Senate and House of Representatives. In my electorate I will research all Independents and pick the one the suits me most and I will vote below the line giving my preferences, not what I am told. For those of you who don't believe we can get rid of the two majors, go to the free version of YouTube and search for Topher Field preferential voting and see the possibilities, interpret his freedom fighters as Independants.

dosent matter who is in,its big business that runs the country these days, behind the scenes,i think the last prime minister who actually really cared about people was Bob Hawke, then you have the stitch up that both big parties worked on,they have passed legislation that ties the hands of independants and minor parties behind their backs, this legislation dosent come in until afyer this election though https://youtu.be/1kYIojG707w?si=mUgSzNzRlcT4m0Ba

Let the games begin. I hate it. A total mud slinging fest. I focus on the policies of all individuals. But as APB said, there will be promises made that won't be honoured which annoys me no end. My 18year doesn't see the point in voting. Doesn't trust politicians( and currently studies historical politics as part of his uni course). I think voting should be a choice for those under 21.

don't ever get Mixed Member Proportional as a voting system. Spike Milligan's prescient comment was... "one day the don't knows will get in, and then where will we be?" It has happened in New Zealand. Mind you . a preference system like you have is pretty silly, too. First past the post, winners and losers. Straight forward. You know where you are.

A preferential system gives a much fairer result.

MMP is supposed to be fair too, but it lets the sillies in. Preferential can often mean the person who got more seconds beats the first choice.

MMP is based on parties, the last thing we need in Australia now is to be stuck with the two parties that now dominate our Parliament, they slowly erode the way for anyone else to step up. But what if a Communist member got 30% of the vote and Liberals 29 Labor 29 and Greens 12. Obviously the last three parties are totally against the Communist ideals and 70% of the electorate voted for them with minor ideals separating their choice. The Preferential system at least assures that at least 50%+1 of the population get someone more to their liking.

Look at the record of both major parties in Australia although one of those is really two separate parties who had to join or they would never be elected. Look at what good things have happened with the present Government and the terrible mismanagement in the previous one under several incompetent leaders. Don't just stick to complaining about the cost of living which is happening everywhere in the World and which people always complain about.

Its time to stop thinking about massive debt burdens build factories to make missiles guns and millions of drones. Choke the dragon and stop selling our raw materials to them for nothing. War is coming we must be prepared Vote the trump...et...ers.. Australians let us all rejoice for we are one and free.

The US spy on us all the time and they are not the allies they make themselves out to be to anyone and, in particular, under Trump, they will only do things for USA and everyone else can go to hell.
