I have no experience with Emergency Department, but they are understaffed and underpaid. The fault lies with the government and has for years; it took Covid to bring it to everyone's attention. They do the best with what's available. Sorry for your experience but it happens every day.

I have been retired for 6 years and every day is now a holiday for me. If I feel like going out I can, but if I am too tired I just stay at home and relax and work on increasing my Rewardia points. I am hoping to earn enough to buy a large screen TV.

Almost all scrolling on the phone aren’t doomscrolling Nafka! Except a few negative effects, there are heaps of positive benefits of this act! Knowledge seeking, creativity, meeting like minded people, expressing ideas, and experiencing professional content you never came across before are some of the positives! For any elderly person, it’s far better time being spent meaningfully (whether it’s night or day) than logically, I believe! Especially, at your mature age there are no hard and fast rules to be followed! It’s your time and your law! No one can dictate terms to them! Most of their stressors generate positive energy which helps more brain power and a greater awareness in them! 😀

The Chosen one just reminded me of a good one I heard while watching Bucket List (a great movie btw) "Never trust a fart" 🤣 Sorry, if it has already come through here on mary c's General topic page... or should I say pages and pages and pages

Those 'named days' such as bubble wrap day, talk like a pirate day, pancake day, extraterrestrial abduction day.... yes they exist and are pointless.

This sounds like incoherent rambling to me, like an old man yelling at a cloud. Times are always a-changing. I get that the older you get, the harder it may get to adapt, but if you're having challenges to adapt, there's younger family to help you out, most likely. Not all of us "younger folk" are arrogant or too dependent on our phones, I have one but I can get by without it too.

I am just thankful that the Lord Jesus gives me each day and the blessings. I am 72 years old. Each day is a gift.

WHAT? GET A LIFE and this is not days of our lives, this is supposed to be a survey site, not dear abby or is it?

Hi Debra D 624780. Should there 'still' be a deer hunting season...NO. Unfortunately, human beings have not evolved from our hunter-gather past as deer hunting season is unnecessary and inhuman at this point in humans' fight for survival on this planet. However, I have a bias viewpoint. I am 95% to 99% of the time (when it comes to food) - a VEGAN!

The elites can make you believe anything when they claim to control almost every global media outlet. The flood of migrants is a deliberate method of the elite to cause division amongst people so they fight one another. Why would they want this? They want you so distracted with all the problems like cost of living, housing crisis, business failures, destruction of the food chain, global warming lies, overpopulation so they can take your land and then lock you up in "smart cities/prisons". These smart cities are run by Artificial intelligence and track and trace your every move to ensure you exist within their strict carbon efficient guidelines every second of your life. If you step out of line you will be punshished through the digital social credit system. They may choose to reduce your food allowance, travel restrictions or maybe force you to be re-educated in a strict facility......who knows? These smart cities are already in operation in China.

Is this even a question? It's a no brainer...I've recycled since I was a child. I'm now 48 always have always will do. My family does the same. It's a privilege to walk on this earth we should treat it as such. Just my opinion

I take my hat off to you. There is no way I could do what you do. I find it hard managing life on my own. I’m 44, left home at 15 as soon as I could. Home and family life was intolerable. Constantly being told that I wasn’t wanted. Lots of violence and disharmony. I thought I I’d be truly over it by now but without the proper and normal support networks, it’s really hard. I have to keep telling myself that life could be a lot worse. I feel lucky that I’m in Australia and not in some war torn or dirt poor country. I just feel like my upbringing has left a lifelong legacy on me that is insurmountable and affects every facet of my life. Deep self esteem issues and feeling like everyone hates you. As they say, what doesn’t break you makes you stronger. Thanks for reading. Cheers

It's interesting to see what you all eat, but I'm a meat and 3 veg type of girl not very into trying other stuff I don't know about, I have cooked tripe for my husband and liver and bacon I don't mind a wee bit more bacon than liver, but not very adventurous. Fill your boots with all the exotic food not for me X

I am a shuffler, I get where im going eventually but I have to say I must be getting stronger I can lift 100 dollars worth of groceries now couldn't do that a year ago

No. If I can’t afford it I don’t buy it. I don’t need material things to make me happy. I have my husband, son and cats, including some strays, that’s all I need. For those that want it all go for it and enjoy. As long as we have enough money to eat and pay bills I’m happy

Why at 75? We are safer drivers than many other younger ones - we rarely get distracted by children in the back seat, we've learned to be more patient and less inclined to road rage, we need our vehicles/licences to enable us to keep our wits about us as we interact with others & keep up our social connections. How rude if the government to choose a specific age to try & demean others, to prove how big a bully yhey can be!

I would probably give most of it away to the poor and hungry, as well as my children and keep just enough to live comfortably for the rest of my years

When we put my mother into palliative care she said to me...you promised you wouldn't put me in a home. I had to explain to her that we couldn't look after her properly anymore. She lived with me for some weeks after a cancer operation even though I had, had a major workplace injury.(siblings couldnt stomach her condition). It was like the blind leading the blind but we laughed our way through. She only lasted a couple of weeks after that. I had to break the promise because more medical help was needed than I could give.

OK, for those in Australia my Wife is the 65 year old grandmother stabbed 17 times by her granddaughter a few years ago, she was not expected to live but is still here in constant pain and jumps at anyone entering a room where she is, has to keep herself shut securely inside and cannot sleep...she too is on a raft of strong medications whereas before this she would only ever take a paracetamol if she was really in severe pain!

Absolutely nothing doing. Why 🤔🤯 waste my time on things I'm never going to follow thru on. Just going to take 2026 lone i have always been doing. One day at a time . Happy New Year 🕛🎊 to all my fellow rewardia members

Have you been awake the last decade?!?! Men got DEMONIZED for taking interest in women...now, women realizing they were WRONG...they are whining why MEN won't acknowledge them anymore. Has nothing to do with the decline of manners or chivalry, and EVERYTHING to do with the radical leftist feminist brainwashing lots of women have undergone the last decade or so, conditioning them to be narcissistic sociopaths, degrading men at every opportunity and chastising men at every chance when they took an interest in them. Men couldn't even LOOK at a woman for a decade without that woman ASSUMING he wanted to do something evil to her, and, naturally, they posted these all online for the world to see, to justify their delusions. Great men are everywhere...sadly, MANY great men are simply DONE with women, thus, they don't get the OPPORTUNITY to experience kindness, chivalry and manners FROM these men. They made their bed, now THEY are laying in it. p.s. Even though this is the overwhelming truth, I personally still hold doors open for women, assist if needed, smile IF THEY look at me and so on...but, I do ALL of this because I am kind, but, I also do it WITHOUT HAVING ANY EXPECTATION OF IT BEING ACKNOWLEDGED.

It is not the banks that are at fault it lies at the feet of the state and federal governments they need to put a halt on immigration and stop housing refugees etc and put our own people first, also with older women it is not only those who stayed at home back even in the seventies and early eighties a lot of women werent covered by superannuation and that fault lies at the feet of employers at that time, that was one good thing which is due to unions.

Corporate greed (profits over people) aka capitalism lack of (business) ethics. Furthermore, grocery prices are NEVER going down and all other aspects (cost) of living life (housing, utilities, etc.) are constantly going up (make the necessarily adjustment - aka get used to it)!

The rich continuously get (income) tax cuts. Corporations continuously get (income) tax cuts. These tax cuts contributed SIGNIFICANTLY to rising income inequality! FYI: It has NEVER been about interest rates (a myth). It has ALWAYS been about WHO gets ongoing (income) tax cuts (reality)!

I know I am opposite to everyone else, but I say no. I would rather someone die in goal than the smallest chance of killing someone who may be innocent. It is not unheard of that people have been found to be innocent after having spent time in goal for a crime they did not commit. The cost to keep another person in goal instead of killing him should not come into it.

The only "make up" I use is sun lotion 50+, even on mild days. There is a reason why Australia has the highest skin cancer rate and it's called ozone depletion. And being Australian, I much prefer the natural beauty of a person to one that is "painted" up anyway.

Yes I do, I had back surgery in 2017 and it was a lower lumbar fusion and it went wrong from the start and when I got out of my 4 hour surgery that ended up taking 10 hours and after this I could not walk because I felt like I was walking down hill and falling to the right so I went back to the doctor and asked why this was happening and he said that sometimes the nerves in their canal get pinched or blocked so I had to have a second surgery. Well I went through the second surgery and now I felt like I was just walking down hill so it's half way better and then I went to see a neurologist and they said that I have had a stroke, I guess it happened in my first surgery, so anyway I am walking down hill and after about a week or two it started to fix itself and I started walking better. Then my surgeon said after x-rays were done that I had 2 discs in my neck that were blown out and it was a simple surgery so I said ok, let's do it. Well, when they do this surgery they go into your throat and make a small cut and remove a disc and replace it with a new metal disc then they closed that up and had to make a second cut to replace the second disc I didn't know this and when I went to get my surgery done there were a few things that I did not know about this, like the doctor never told me that they go into my neck to do this so when I got there I got a shock, I had to shave my beard in order for them to do this (LOL), Hell, I really didn't know that is what was going on anyway I got the surgery done after I shaved and all was good so Ii thought, after staying for 2 day's in the Hospital after the surgery the doctor decided to release me and so I left the hospital to go home and it was 110 miles from the Hospital to the house and I really felt great and happy to be at home finally and then it hit, my throat started closing up and I wasn't getting any air so I was rushed 20 miles to a local Hospital and that was the wrong hospital that I was supposed to be at so the Ambulance drivers gad to turn around and drive me 14 miles to where the hospital was and guess what, This Hospital was only 4 miles from my house again I'm still not getting proper air so they rush me inside the ER and attempt to put hoses or tubes down my throat and they ended up knocking out my two front lower teeth to do this and I swallowed them. So I laid in that Hospital for 4 more day's to get test done and on day 4 I decided I've had enough because the doctor has never came to see me , so I took the tubes out of my throat and pulled out my wires and needles and I told them that I am getting the hell out of here so the staff called security and they tried to keep me there and we started fighting and I kept saying I"M leaving, so I left and got home and I had an appointment with my neurologist and I went to that appointment and had a MRI done and they said that with all of this, I had another Stroke. I went home, I just gave up. I wrote all of this because it is a true event, But, my point is is that my Doctor got paid very well and I still am in a lot of pain and I can't work anymore and life has become a real BITCH and I also need to say that I have tried to go and see my back doctor and no one knows where he disappeared to. This is just some mucked up shit that I have been living with and I am not crying about , I hope you folks learn what you are up against prior to letting a doctor do any work on you and pick the very best qualified doctor before getting any surgery done. I hope you all have a good day!

We will understand God's plan for each of us in due time. That time isn't now. You need to rely on your faith in God and realize he's not the bad guy. On the contrary. God knows and loves us and will have us understand everything in due time. This life is a testing ground for us to grow and learn and to learn to control our bodies and souls. You aren't the only one who has lost loved ones, young and old. We'll understand when the time is right. We aren't God. We don't decide. It hurts and God will make it right when the time comes and is His decision. Kudos for sharing heartbreaking experiences. We all have them.

I suffered a spinal injury leaving me an incomplete paraplegic which means I had one paralysed leg. I had to wear an orthidic which kept my foot at a right angle so could only wear sneakers or lace-up shoes. If I wore a dress the orthidic strapped to my leg would snag it so I stuck to pants. My surgeon referred me to a neurosurgeon who told me that not only would I never get feeling or use back in my leg but I would also get much worse as I aged and one day I wouldn't be able to walk at all. I was so upset as I left his office and as I watched a taxi coming close I momentarily thought about jumping in front of it, but at the last minute I felt it probably wouldn't kill me but give some other injury. I decided to go back to my GP and discuss the matter with him. He said he felt I would improve over time but my leg would never be normal again in either full feeling or use. I saw a physio who gave me exercises to do telling me nerves can grow back if stimulated and my surgeon told me the best vitamins to make nerves grow. I went to the local chemist to buy the vitamins and the young girl there told me I needed acupuncture but only from someone who was taught in China. I managed to find a real GP who learnt acupuncture in China and he agreed to see if there was anything he could do for me. I went to physio once a week and had acupuncture once a week all the while taking the vitamins recommended. It didn't happen overnight but it did improve so that I was able put the orthidic away underneath the stairs. The injury was 1997 and I now have 80% use of my leg and 70% feeling. I can wear flat shoes or sandals but not thongs or high heels, which I don't miss, and I can walk some distance if I wear sneakers. I went back to the hospital to show them my recovery, they rarely get to see how people cope once they leave hospital. There are things I can't do and I have to be careful because I can't tell if I am standing on uneven ground or flooring which can be dangerous, but, the neurosurgeon was wrong, I did get better and I can walk unaided.

My take, global warming is a political way by our politicians to collect taxes, started with Gore over two decades ago with all his scare tactics, that truly never happened, because I believe God put all these energy resources for us humans to survive, period, we just had to figure it all out., nothing to do with politics or fear. Anything Gore said, has never happened, these frauds will always scare the masses. God will protect us if we get back to Him, and believe, this is what I believe, but people are afraid, thank you for allowing me to express my opinion, Eric.

The is always data somewhere that will tell you something will hurt you. I paid $16,000 for solar panels and now only I get 3c a kw feed in and still have electricity bills. I am not getting rid of any of my gas appliances only to have nothing as a back up during furture blackouts when too many people go over to overloaded, unreliable renewable systems. They are not nice I lived with organised black and brown outs in Qld not doing it again.

I don't think I ever needed that spare one, but I have several in my 'button box'. (I'm 75) I think most young adults today haven't been taught or wouldn't have the slightest notion or knowledge to sew a button on. It's a throw away society. Very sad.

Yep common sense has gone out the window with a govt who is more concerned about the next election than the health of the Australian people. The new rule changes are absolute bullshit and have no basis in science, purely politics to hide the real number of covid cases. Rapid tests are an important tool, but the lack of a mechanism to report the +ve cases detected by rapid tests smacks of the desire to cover up the true number of cases. The 4 hour exposure rule and household only as close contacts is absolute, unscientific, political rubbish.

Yes that's true, the other day I was buying a pack of Paracetamol from the chemist, and surprised to see how small the pack has become, the price was the same but the number of tablets were less. Cake of soap was the same, the items was getting smaller and smaller, while the prices either being the same or more? I though this is how the companies trying to survive while keeping their customer base intact. No one is shying away because of the cake of soap is smaller in size or the pack of Paracetamol doesn't contain the required number and size as earlier! We have to survive in this difficult times!

Most of my family ( in laws) were or are teachers. In saying that the work load increase, integration of children of all abilities and constant expectation of updating knowledge/ skills, being available to families, lack of support and low remuneration has come to this. Dubious or flimsy behavioural guidelines and expectations for student/ teacher interactions has cemented it. An overhaul is needed. And honestly I think classes need two teachers per average class as well as an aid if required. It's not the same as it was when even I was at school. Burn out is common. Teachers for the most part are good, the problem is retaining them. There just isn't long term experienced teachers willing to put up with the working conditions. I challenge anyone to work with 25- 30 children of any age everyday and be at their best 100% of the time.

I have no problems with apps,BUT I wont pay for them.....I make my own appointments and I know what I am doing.....I am not that stupid

Yes ,try dealing with fhe Victorian housing people. I was asked to fill out forms and get back onto their endless wait lists as they had taken me off and not even notified me. Dr filled them but then they wanted me to go back and get another letter to explain exactly why i would need proper heating and cooling ( l have a medical condition well known for requiring this) ln fact i already have medical cooling concessions on my power bill . But no.., i was then told i needed to go back again for another letter explaining in more detail. And a complete new form as the other one is now obsolete??? So i have to run around and jump through hoops. The Dr gets paid 3 times .. . And they've now taken me off the lists again ( l was not told this i had to inquire by a third party channel who found out for me ) This how people with disabilities are treated . All i got was " l'm sorry you're in this situation and i wish you all the best" .This from the main housing group that are supposed to help people in crisis. I'm so fortunate my landlords have currently put a hold on selling this place as the bureaucracy in govt depts is gobsmacking.

One of my daughters-in-law wanted a dishwasher in their first home. I had been married for 12 years, had 3 children and the cash to buy my first dishwasher. Then I had to get a carpenter to cut into my kitchen cupboards for a place for it. We started small, 3 bedrooms, separate toilet and one bathroom in a location we didn't really want to live in, but today they want everything all at once. We went without eating out and we didn't have a phone. Coloured TV had to wait until the old one broke down. However, we didn't feel we were disadvantaged or hard done by. I think it made life simpler.

We should all watch Colossus: The Forbidden Project. Or The Terminator. It's here. It's there. It's dangerous. I'm not so worried about it in my life because I can try to limit it to a point. It's the AI in government and military hands that makes me a little frightened.

You have a choice! Nothing forcing you to use it - anything involving technology relies on power - have an outage and you have problems - reset this that and the other - why do you need technology to run everything in the first place? I have a key that opens my front door and if the power is out who cares! it will come back on sooner or later.

My wife. Was not on sale but my best choice ever. Reliable and hard working. Gets better with age and looks outstanding.

Gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation and emotional abuse. The manipulator deliberately distorts the truth, denying facts or the victim's feelings, to make the victim doubt their own memory, perception, or sanity. The ultimate goal is to gain power and control

I often chat to myself (and occasionally to my husband - he passed a couple of years ago but I still like to tell him when something happens that he would be interested in).

One, buy generic (not brand name) - when it comes too food. Generic is as tasty as brand names! Two, stay away from microwaveable (convenience) foods (too expensive) and you pay for convenience in a grocery store. Last, set up a monthly grocery budget and (tried) to stay within your monthly grocery budget!

In Melbourne Australia, it is illegal to buy or set off personal fireworks. You can go and watch the big fireworks events. I personally find them boring. I have seen the drone lights displays and find them more appealing and no noise.

I will 100% step in and say something.. I have many times in the past and will at any opportunity. I was bullied as a kid then abused by my ex as an adult in public many times, but it took years for me to stop living in fear, and now I will stand up for anyone!

I have been self employed for over 30 years. I worked between 100 and 120 hours per week, until my heart attack at 40 years old. I reduced my work to between 60 and 80 hours per week. I had huge insurance costs and half my money was taken by the government as tax not including the gst. I dont smoke, dont gamble and rarely ever drink. I never waste money on junk food or things I dont need. I pay full price for dental and medical treatments, which i cant afford at the best of times. I am now 59, semi retired with destroyed shoulders, and currently unable to work until my shoulders heal. I have a small superannuation account that i cant access as yet, and not elligible for the age pension because i own my home. When i sit on my porch enjoying a coffee and look down the hill at the goverment housing development, I see 3 late model BMW's, 2 late model Mercedes, a HSV Commodore and plenty of SUV's etc parked in the driveways. These individuals are home most days when not at the club playing the pokies, drinking and smoking in their sun chairs. I look at my 16 year old work van that is also my transport, no A/C and rust spots surviving on about $150 to $300 per week taken from my personal savings and wonder if all my hard work was actually worth it. Regardless of that, I have self respect and have a personal satisfaction of my achievements. A raise in benefits makes no difference in my world. My personal oppinion is that benefits should be only for those who absolutely require it which should include other benefits based on individual needs. If you are able to work, then you should. Be an assett and not a financial drain.

Allergies didn't just 'appear' spontaneously after 1985. Simply because you don't know anyone who was allergic to nuts or had coeliacs before that time doesn't mean they didn't exist. Better medical diagnostics has certainly made diagnosis easier, so people who had been sick all their lives now had a name for their condition & guidelines for how to avoid symptoms from occurring. My friend is 58 & has been coeliac all her life, as well as having allergies to other food items. She didn't suddenly become coeliac in 1985, nor did her mother who is in her 80's. My sister is in her 70's & has always had digestive issues in regard to milk. She's only known in the last 10 years that the reason is she is lactose intolerant. Prior to that she was just bloated & and felt sick if she drank milk etc. Now, she avoids symptoms by choosing lactose free milk. People certainly did die from anaphalysis due to nut ( & other allergies) before 1985. For some people exposure makes them feel ill, others it can be fatal. Better access to epipens has increased survival. Has the rate of new allergies increased or are more people who have intolerances etc being diagnosed? I'm not sure. I would need to look at actual scientific studies to see what the conclusions are on that one but allergies & intolerances did not just suddenly appear, they have been with us for a very long time.

Why do you need to show off your bare body? Isn't your body a precious and personal part of your being. I do not like nudist. Cover up people, Be respectful of others

Mine, IMO, is kind of unique. I had been working in marketing for McDonald’s and I was overseas opening up the first store in New Caledonia. There was a female staff member who was having a threatened miscarriage and she was taken to the white hospital in the capital. She didn’t lose the baby but that experience led me to look at the hospital for the indigenous population and I was very disappointed in the difference of care and the infrastructure which the Kanak people had access to in comparison to the French speaking population. After returning to Australia I made the decision to apply to University and study Nursing and become a Registered Nurse instead. That career choice was the best decision I ever made and although I earned less money the satisfaction was far greater than selling hamburgers to 3rd world nations. Thanks for reading.

Parents no longer give children rules or boundaries which accounts for some problems. I also notice babies no longer get definite sleep patterns. In my day when it was time for baby to sleep we left them to sleep but now mothers are out and about with crying babies and children annoying everyone else. Children are sleep deprived and undisciplined which isn't a good combination, then they go to school where the teachers spend hours trying to corral the noisy and disruptive children in order to begin a lesson on how white people invaded Australia, the earth will burn up in climate change and global warming and finishing with are you a boy or a girl, don't worry because it no longer matters.

Give up on renewables and give us affordable electricity. Mind you own business about international affairs. House the homeless and young people who can't afford to buy a home. Get your act together! You are only PM because of preferences.

I would like to have a power to ease pain and suffering in aged people, to reverse old age so they can still enjoy life

It's a perpetual scam. They research "cures" to ENSURE the money keeps rolling in. But, if they just looked at the CAUSES of issues...they wouldn't GET money for research because they would know HOW to heal...and, to be fair, it is VERY easy to heal anything...but, they don't know this, and, if they do, they purposely maintain their status quo so they KEEP YOU SOMEWHAT SICK so they can MANAGE your issues, PROFITING OFF YOU THE WHOLE TIME...AND, practicing the SLOW KILL as they push allopathy onto you via petroleum based pills...that NEVER fix anything, they just "mask" the issue, and it just festers internally. These things are set up to TRANSFER WEALTH from US...to THEM. End of story.

People are selfish. Everyone is an hurry to nowhere. No one wants more police on the streets. However, it may be necessary for a larger police traffic presence to alter driver behaviour. As stated elsewhere, harsher and stricter penalties might also be required. it's not just the speed. There is a general lack of awareness and understanding of the rules of the road. Better and more rigorous driver education standards combined with mandatory re-examination / relicensing for more serious offences might be helpful in altering behaviours as well.

This is unfortunately the problem the world will be facing with all of this so-called 'green' technology such as wind turbines, solar panels and lithium batteries when they reach the end of their usefulness. How is all of this going to be recycled? If it ends up in landfill, what sort of chemicals are going to leach into the soil and river systems?

I hope you dont drink alcohol, eat bacon or various other carcinogens. Glyphosate has been proven safe time and time again, you are just fear mongering with no scientific back up.

I have 11 piercings in my ears, 1 in my belly button & a few tattoos. My mother actually took me to get my belly button done since I was only 17 & I went with her to get her second piercing in her ears. I'm not a fan of some facial piercings or over gauged ears, but a small stud in the nose or ring in the eyebrow is fine. I think if you're qualified to do the job, it shouldn't matter what kind of piercings you have. If you're the face of a company, the employer should make it clear in the dress code policy. Don't judge a book by its cover.

Can someone explain to me why God doesn't answer the prayers of the people in Gaza or the hungry and their suffering. I cannot understand why such dreadful things happen, yet all the prayers do nothing. Religion in my opinion has been the cause of all the suffering. And don't even get me started on Catholicism and the Priests

Depends on the circumstances. I’m a migrant from another country without friends but freedom to choose what I would do and I was contented with that. I found solitude can be a source of healing and rewarding. Friends can cause more stress for you as you have to keep up with them and time and be with them can be all consuming. There are other things you can enjoy on your own that you are not dependent on another for happiness.

Equality has NEVER existed on this planet - you will FACE some form of discrimination (ageism, racism, sexism, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, lack of religious beliefs, social economic status, etc.) - before you DIE on this planet!

I truly believe that women in general have less rights now than they did when I was growing up in the 1960's. My mother was able to stay home and raise my brother and I and not forced to leave her home AND her children to afford the mortgage money for the house my father and her purchased together. They had 2 solid years working together at a factory before my mother fell pregnant with me and retired from the paid workforce and she was able to rest during her pregnancy and prepare for my arrival enjoying that time. Even on one income back then we had meat every night for dinner because back then you could afford it, not now! My mother taught me SO many valuable lessons of how to cook well but cheaply, how to sew and how to run a home. I, however, did not think that these lessons were valuable until I got older and unfortunately I bought into the feminist hype of the working woman being able to "do it all"! Absolute BS BTW as all I did was get on a treadmill for 25 years without stopping trying to be everything that my changing society told me was my right but ultimately missing out on some of the most important things in my 5 children's lives. I sent them along to Daycare because I was told it was as good as me caring for them and they'd be well socialised, but they cried when I left them and I abandoned them to a place of noise and no love. They will say to me today "Mum, do you remember when" or "do you remember so and so" and I have no recollection of those events or people because my headspace and I were somewhere else. I wish that I had realised the feminist lies back then and stayed at home raising my children myself and teaching them things of value. You can NEVER reclaim those moments you lost and I regret it deeply. I believe that we are less "women" now than we were before we had the right to choose whether or not to bring to term the children we carried in our wombs and we started trying so dang hard to be as good as men when we already were but in a different way! We got robbed of a lot of simple pleasures of watching our children play or having kids come home with our kids and ask to play in the backyard because there was always someone home back then. These days women, mothers especially, have to coordinate schedules and are often absent from the home and need to organise formal play dates with the other equally busy and exhausted parents of their child's friends. If THIS is what was meant by "progress" for women then we collectively were sold a lemon! Thanks for reading.

I have never heard of putting off fireworks. If you are going to put them off you don't need a license. If you let them off you might just BLOW your hand off.

I hardly ever eat out whether at takeaways or restaurants, and so I have to cook at home. I buy whatever vegetables are on clearance and I make meals with these and pulses as they're cheap. What I really enjoy is getting the "Red Book" out which I transcribed old family recipes from, which had paper that was falling apart, when I was 10 years old. As it's been almost 50 years since I wrote those recipes down and since the writing is fading away, it is almost time to rewrite the family recipes again and hopefully my children and grandchildren will decide to try them out when I'm gone. There are even recipes which refer to "remove plate from fire" which pre date even my own grandmother. The recipes are easy to make, relatively cheap and taste delicious. I like knowing exactly what is in my food and cooking at home from scratch provides me with something to look forward to eating! Thanks for reading and Happy Mothers Day to all the mothers out there!

It must be well past your nap time M1364377...your comments and calling people B****es and retard is inappropriate and offensive. I hope you are removed from here by the time you wake up and are packing your lunch for school.

Only one person can bring world peace to this earth. His name is Jesus Christ. He is the son of Jehovah God. Soon God will hand over the kingdom rule to his son, who will then cleanse the earth of all wickedness, and peace will reign forever! Please read Matthew 6:10; Matthew 24:14 and Psalm chapter 37 in your Bible! ;-D

If we came from the monkeys why has the ape population not evolved yet. I believe we were created in God's image.

I am in the Atlanta Georgia area. We are famous for the Varsity. You can't beat their hot dogs (especially the slaw and chili ones), onion rings and fried peach pies.

Why is it up to schools again? Why isn't it a parents responsibility? I'm not so sure about unhealthy drinks because I have been drinking UP & GO thinking it was a healthy drink but have found it has additives and fillers. It could be doing me more harm than good. I'd be more concerned about drinks containing corn syrup instead of sugar because the liver can't break it down. Dental decay might be more related to poor dental hygiene than what is being drunk.

I don't get excited about specials and "specials". I always go by the unit price and very often the product not on special is cheaper if you check the unit price. Dishwashing tablets are typical and Vanish is another. Bigger isn't always cheaper.

I know how you feel. some time ago I found a supermarket docket in my handbag. I pulled it out to throw it away and being curious I read through it just to see what I had bought at that time and how the prices had changed. I rarely if ever checked my receipts. The receipt I was holding was almost 2 months old. Going through it I saw I had bought 33 cartons of long life milk. Living alone I only ever but 3 cartons at a time. Next time I was in that supermarket I went to the desk and showed them the receipt saying I knew it was old but I had found it in my handbag. To my surprise the lady called the manager and after I explained everything the manager `repaid the extra amount and apologised. I never thought for a moment that I would be repaid, so it just goes to show that you should always check your dockets

If Hawaii wasn't part of the US, I'd live there in a heartbeat. Definitely somewhere warm and tropical though, or perhaps southern Europe. That said, where I live now is beautiful, we have mountains, the ocean, and winters that aren't too cold most years. I'm quite content living where I do now (suburban Vancouver, Canada).

I started my working life as a musician and worked my way around the world. Became a nanny in London and was hired by Veronica, Lady Lucan. Left there to move to Egypt and my replacement was murdered by Lord Lucan. I went back to music as it fitted around my children and then retrained with degrees in Education and Psychology, later working in Juvenile Justice. I was widowed very young but apart from that, life has been an amazing and wonderful adventure.

I can really relate. My wife of 47 years passed away last year and I found myself completely alone. I would ask neighbors to come visit and keep me company. They all said NO either because I was too needy or I needed to get on with my life. Yet, when any neighbor needed help my wife and I were always there. Things that make you wonder!

It’s rude and time consuming. Don’t know how the elderly would cope with all the tech. Part of going out to dinner is being treated nicely by the staff.

Mine cheated on me. He wouldn’t consider counseling. Married her. I had a 2 and 4 year old. I have a great husband now.

Well I think if this is all we need to do to prevent climate change...I must be doing my bit...I'm growing moss in my gutters...🙃

I am positive some are using it to participate in some games. The top times displayed in classic solitaire are humanly impossible. Current top time is 94 seconds. Impossible with a mouse or finger. Just completed one with minimal moves and it still took 403 seconds. I have done them in a shorter time but 94 seconds ain't happening. 😆🤣😂 583 seconds on single card classic solitaire just now. One of my slower results mind you.

Regardless of country, I feel for anything to be labeled made in Australia, it should be designed, produced and manufactured of 100% Australian commodities and ingredients then packaged in Australia with 100% Australian made wrappings, the same as for each country.

There is no sure way to 'prevent' dementia; there are steps you can take that 'might' slow down the full effects of dementia. A lot more research is needed. However, it MIGHT help to do the following: Keep your mind active. Be physically active and socially active. If you smoke, then quit smoking. Get enough vitamins (see a general practitioner aka a MD). Manage cardiovascular risk factors (thru a medical specialist aka a MD). Take care of your mental health (thru a licensed psychologist and/or licensed psychiatrist) and neurologist (MD). Maintain a healthy diet (you are what you eat). Get good quality sleep. Treat hearing loss. Get regular eye exams and treat vison loss. Most importantly (to me) see a licensed MD (or as many medical doctors you need to see) on a regular basis. FYI: For me it is slowing down the full effects of being diagnosis with dementia at an early stage in life.

if you cant get customer support just remind them you can always always withdraw your custom and you will tell all your friends to do the same and why

My favorite 2 restaurants in Oak Harbor, Washington are El Cazador and the D&H Mongolian Buffet. Although the prices have gone up a few dollars, for $15 you can eat all you want at the Buffet, which has everything anyone could want, and on Monday El Cazador offers a Senior Citizen's discount of 50% off any Combination dinner, and the amounts have NOT decreased! That means a 3 item (including refried beans, Spanish rice, and a serving of avocado and sour cream on lettuce, + chips and salsa to start), $20 combo is only $10! I eat half there, and bring half home, which I eat for dinner! Find gems like these and you'll be able to enjoy your time eating out! 🤗😋🤭

Great read Christina C 😁 I for one am a doer, in saying that many ideas have been just that lol Great ideas are a part of being human and therefore evolution. Regardless of whats going on, anyone with a great idea I encourage to make it happen, don't let any barriers stop you because all great things start from some thing/one small.

Two words: corporate greed. Granted covid, wars, inflation etc have some effect, it's not anywhere as pronounced as new set prices would have you believe. Corporations have milked these things to hike prices and get away with it and are continuing to do so.

Arjun finally got Anushka to say "OK Arjun . .let's go upstairs now " !!! . . . . . . "OK" said Arjun . . "Just let me put the bin out and shut the back door and gate" . . . . . "Now or never" said Anushka. . . . "I am to be happy" said Arjun !

This one comes under " useless", or " of little importance" or another " why would you want to"....... You can't hum while holding your nose.

All a lot of Crap Same weather for hundreds of years Nothing to do with Climate change . I have so far lived a long time to already know this

I stayed with my husband for the kids and it was the biggest mistake because my kids suffered in the long run

I don't believe 'we' (governments cooperating together on this planet - solving our environmental issues and natural resources issues, etc.) have enough money to solve earth's many issues - all created by mankind. Might as well have a Plan B - exit this planet (Earth) and start our destructive human behavior pattern on another uninhabited planet ('still') it is a dirty, rotten shame we are condemned to repeat our history on another uninhabited planet in the universe (LOL))!

DO NOT LIKE THE MADNESS OF CHRISTMAS. WE SEEM TO FORGET THE TRUE MEANING OF CHRISTMAS AS EVERYONE GOES CRAZY AROUND THIS TIME OF THE YEAR.

I come school my child. I do not believe that children need to attend a main stream school. Parents can access so many different resources and facilities. Homeschooling allows kids to learn without disruption, without all the waiting. Kids queue to enter a school classroom they wait while students organise themselves, they wait while instructions and resources are distributed. Waiting to ask questions plus all the rest. Homeschool kids have access to as much socialising as mainstream school students if not more. This depends on the parents and locations. We do group sporting, Homeschool group activities, play sessions, group library activities activities. The difference i find with my kid is that they are socialising with kids of a wide variety of ages, stages, and walks of life. I have found Homeschool kids to be more friendly, they actually think more, are kind and great well rounded kids. I've not come across bullying and harassment behaviour. We live how we attend a monthly science activity. The kids get together and start group games. No parental instruction and they support younger kids or kids that may have disabilities and adjust things to include kids. These kids do this without any adult direction. Talking to the kids they take each kid individually likes/dislikes and all abilities. There has to my knowledge no restricting or isolation of any kids. They have been happy, confident, caring and intelligent kids. The kids can adjust attitudes and behaviours if they are playing games with toddlers, thru to high school kids and even adjusting games to include kids in wheelchairs or crutches, blind or other disabilities. They don't make a fuss of adjustments. An example was 12 boys (aged between 8 and 15 ) playing with a ball kicking it from one side to another. Then allowing some toddlers to have a kick of the ball and encouraging the little ones to be part of the game.

"taking a man's name" is antiquated and sexist. It is easier (legally) and cheaper to keep your own name (especially these days when people are in the habit of remarrying). When I was married, I always earned MORE than my husband so I find it offensive when people say "the man is the breadwinner" and I am talking decades ago (when we first married) right up until recent history when we divorced.

well I have no idea what you are talking about..what is a group home?..is this an American thing?...what country are we talking about please?

I used to believe family was everything. Life has taught me otherwise. Doesn't seem to matter with some how nice you are or what ever you do! You just keep getting abused and used. Friends you can choose!

I can give you a hint: CREDIT! Yes, these mostly young people who would, back in the day, have already been parents to a couple of kids and might be on their first or second marriages, are being propagandised to play it up and enjoy life WITHOUT responsibilities. Now everyone gets to choose their own path but this is by design. They are paid far more than I ever earned even though I have an undergraduate degree but instead of pesky kids to feed and educate they get to spend like the party will go on forever. Only they are deceived. Most will never be able to afford to buy a home of their own and many live with mates not family, except many still do well into their 20's or even longer. So their rate off disposable income is higher. Their nice cars though are often bought on credit which sounds brilliant to them until they get sick or lose their job that is! Then we have other available credit including the plastic cards but even more commonly nowadays are the Afterpay and Zip BNPL platforms and they can create massive problems which only this generation has seen. The whole "pay in 4" sounds great at first but if you haven't had a good fiscal education, and many have not, then the fact that you can buy a card, with Zip there's no upfront payment to do so although Afterpay requires 25% down, which you can use to dine out, travel, and buy basically whatever takes your fancy even though you don't have the money! I was amazed to find that you can buy groceries with these platforms, and if you are hungry then Im sure its invaluable, but the rest is just trouble! I've watched many financial channels where young people are interviewed and some of them are 50K in debt and they have zero assets. They've had to go bankrupt before they're 30! I understand that those who did the right thing and saved up money, scrimping for years to pay back their mortgage and only driving second hand cars until they own their home outright, like my own parents, certainly deserve to enjoy the fruits of their labour, but today is different and there WILL be a societal reckoning due to this and that won't be good for any of us! Thanks for reading.

The evidence of a Drop Bear attack to a teacher during a school camp. You've got to be careful of them, they attack when you least expect it.

Having had testicular cancer 20 yrs ago and deciding on what form of treatment to do was tough. .i chose radiation and in the end it worked out. But like many times and things in life one size definitely doesn't fit all

I think to go cashless they will have to change the law as what will be "legal tender' I am now in my eighties. I hope I die before this happens

I learnt that the govt is a dictatorship and refuse to listen to any opposing opinions. I never wore a mask unless at doctor or supermarket and I didn’t get any boosters. I was fine until I went to hospital and caught covid there. Headache and sore throat only on first day. 95% vaccination did not stop a huge rise in cases. I will never trust the govt again.

People are just Lazy. Its not just Litter the dump when and where they want to there are other things people do which also gets up our noses. Gyms. The great Big, Muscle-bound men and Women use equipment, particulatly Heavy Weights, and then simply leave them where they have been using them so that Gym Staff have to go around putting all that gear back on the racks, we even have one of them who uses the toilet, never flushes we simply assume that Mum/Mom, Dad or some servant at home wipes their bums and flushes for them The other annoyance is in Supermarkets. People go to the Service Delicatessen get a heap of Smallgoods and then later decide they don't want any of it. So what do they do? Take it back to the Delli? Of course not! They just dump it anywhere and never in any fridge so that when hours or even days later it is found it has to be thrown out. This costs the Supermarket owners and, just like Shoplifting, means that prices are increased to cover those losses. Is it really so difficult to keep your rubbish until you get home? You are big and strong enough to carry those FULL cans, bottles, wrapped sandwiches etc. into Parks etc. so why are you suddenly so weak you cannot carry the Empty bottles and cans, wrapping papers/bags out and dispose of them at home?
