Like a lot of others, I get screened out of countless surveys - certainly there are far more outs than acceptances. There is absolutely no doubt that the main reason I get the 'cold shoulder' is my age. I am 77. Being rejected used to annoy me but I have come to accept that the so called marketing experts aren't interested in considered opinions from us older folk and believe that the world functions around the upwardly mobile with more money than sense. That's okay, they pay their money and get what they want but I wish they wouldn't waste everyone's time in this manner.

I think we have no idea what we are eating. How could we know? We aren't there where our food is grown or even worse where it's produced, handled and packaged. Unless you grow your own food and raise your own livestock, you don't know what you're eating. Even then, what part does the environment and the feed for the livestock impact the final product? Almost everything from the air we breathe to the items we interact with to the food we eat affects us. I'm more concerned with the electronics and all the things we can't see. I have proof that the electricity in our homes can kill us, even our pets and trees. Now there is so much more than just the electricity we use. All the devices we use affect us, and I feel we are forced to use them out of necessity. I hate mobile phones, but almost every company wants you to download an app which I think is for tracking purposes, but they make it appear to be for out benefit. When do companies EVER do anything just to save us money? That doesn't even make sense. I feel like we are lambs being sent to the slaughter and everyone just follows along. I try not to, but sometimes we HAVE to in order to do what we have to do. They assume everyone has a cell phone and internet. We should be able to make that choice and not be forced into using things that we don't even understand how they work! Maybe I'm just too old for this. Does anyone agree or am I paranoid? I've been around long enough to know not to trust everything. You can't even believe what you hear and see now with the AI which is another subject I'd like to avoid!

One key point I would like to make. For the last 6 months or so I have been ingesting a lot of pasta and rice because of affordability and I love it. Was warned that it would raise my A1C. The only reason an appliance blows fuses is because it draws too much power, meaning there is a fault somewhere inside it, a short or shorted component. While a power surge can damage your appliance, and cause it to short out, if you experienced a power surge a lot of other items in your house would likely have been damaged as well. Demand that the dryer company fixes you dryer and if they don\u2019t go to the consumer ombudsman or threaten to take them to VCAT or an equivalent court wherever you live. You are lucky you had a toilet to use. In my day it was the dunny down the yard. They didn't have toilets mostly, it was a hole in the ground. Then came the little house down the yard with a wooden box over a hole in the ground, which was filled over with dirt & a new hole made. Then came the big drums in the hole & the Dunny/Sanitary cart came along & exchanged the drums over. My life goes a long way back. We used torn up paper (usually the phone pages) or newspapers for toilet paper.

I never had/knew this kind of family life. When I was too young to remember, my dad took my sister and I, along with my mom's housekeeper, and moved us away while mom was in the hospital. The education system is nothing more than a left leaning brain washing scheme. The teachers have no authority over the pupils who do pretty much what they like. There is no discipline or routine and nothing worthwhile is being taught. One of my children had a subject called pastoral care. I thought it was spelt "pasture" and wondered why they were learning about animal husbandry. I honestly don't know. I am trying hard to pay off our cards, but our debt did not come from living too well, but simply having to pay bills. Climate change and its effects are quite obvious. Regarding your plight of living with house mates is a bit daunting, but what can you do? When you cannot afford a home by yourself, some sacrifices have to be made. I pass a positive compliment to you. If you are the one who is appearing in the photo, you look quite young and smart, why not try a career advancement to buy your own place? Just a suggestion! The worst experience I've had with being invisible was a few years ago. I had recently been released from hospital after an accident. I was on crutches and struggling to get into a local mall to do some Christmas shopping. Well, some jerk actually pushed me out of the way so he could go first. I received my licence at 19 & am now 82, I have never had a speeding ticket, only a small dint in my car in our car park misjudging how close I was to a pole. Another scratch on the front must have been done by someone else when my car was in the shopping centre. Will have to go for my license in three years & not looking forward to it, my husband is due for the second time he passed there last one in flying colours. How many young people with have a record like this, all my children & now grandchildren have been picked up mostly for speed limit fortunately not drink driving, one G Child lost his license for three months after loosing all his points, was rather expensive , fines as well as difficulty in getting to work.

Maybe it's time to remember that country people need bigger vehicles to successfully run their farms, be they meat, fruit, vegetable or other. Some people just take too much carry-on, check it in, I\u2019ve seen 4 large bags crammed in overheads for one person and no room for others. If they had to pay , they may think about their bags check- in and we might not have this extra charge. We all carry too much excess anyway.

I have a daughter who rides on shared bike ways, and she had an accident because a pedestrian who was walking two dogs spread out over both lanes and had headphones on and could not hear her repeated bell warnings. My daughter moved off the path and her wheel got caught in between the the path and the grass and she broke her ankle. So its not just the cyclists in the wrong.

Sometimes the old tried and true is the best thing. I think in our fascination with what is new and fancy we get caught up and forget that it has to reliably work. Found Melbourne airport to be a problem. Flew (never again) JetStar to Hobart from Hervey Bay. As JS do not have baggage transfers had to collect own baggage but as onward flight was more than 4 hour wasn't able to check baggage in so had to sit in no mans land. After 3 hours went to check in but as the plane had been delayed 2 hours had to wait only to find it was further delayed but fortunately we were able to check our baggage in. They need baggage storage or somewhere decent to sit

Yes, I've had one. A DON who sacked me after being called to his office. He said he was sacking me for being cruel to a resident. I have never been cruel to any of my patients or residents. I used take two elderly sisters (who had no family or visitors) once a month, in my own time, to buy them a Cornish pasty. I had to get the DON'S permission to do that because he was their NOK. He gave me permission but I wasn't allowed to take them to their bank. One day, one of the sisters wanted to go to the bank. I thought, why not...it's their money. To make a longer story short, that DON was syphoning money, every pension day, from their accounts into his. I reported him to the owner ( who I'd worked for previously) The DON was confronted by the owner...and he made up a story, paid a carer to be a witness and say she'd seen me being cruel. I had 30 days to take him to court. So I waited for 28th day then had my union serve legal papers to take him to court for wrongful dismissal. I won that case, was compensated and given my job back. But in a small town, mud sticks, so I didn't go back and found a better job. He was sacked, he was doing the same to other residents. And to think, I saved that b#stards life when he was kicked in the head by his horse...

I agree there are some youngsters who are like that but I don't think you can generalise. I know many young people who do not behave in that way at all and I believe that is because of good parenting. If parents can't teach values and good manners to their children, or can't be bothered to, then it is no surprise their kids turn out in the way you describe.

It's good to be aware of your surroundings it's not a problem it's a necessity, if the person is slumped over they may be exhibiting exhaustion or a medical problem or so many other things. If you feel safe I would think a quick conversation with the neighbors would help give you a piece of mind.
