Amazing Slow cooked French onion Beef Casserole
The reason I call this recipe French onion casserole as the recipe combines the richness of the beef stew with the delicious caramelized onions and crusty cheesy bread topping of french onion soup! It is insanely delicious and satisfying. It is definitely a winner in my household.

Ingredients:

800g - 1.3 kg chuck beef steak
2 large onions or 3 medium onions
2 Tbsp crushed garlic
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 bay leaves
2 tbsp Dijon mustard
2 Tbsp flour
1 tsp mixed herbs
1 Tbsp tomato paste
2 cups beef stock
1/2 cup water
Salt and pepper to taste
Dash of oil

Cheesy bread topping:
1 white Baguette sliced
250g grated tasty cheese
100g Parmesan cheese

Method:

1) Cut chuck steak into cubes. Coarsely chop the onions.

2) Put dash of oil into a large wok. Fried chuck steak till brown. Add flour, crushed garlic and onion. Mix thoroughly.

3) Pour in beef stock, water, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, bay leaves, mixed herbs, tomato paste, salt and pepper.

4) Bring the pot into boil. Then simmer slowly for at least 2 hours. This slow cooked method will ensure meat is tender.

5) Prepare the cheesy bread, grill them until golden. Carefully not to burn them. Serve the bread on top of the casserole.
