Corn Fritters
Chris P Chikin08-Jun-25
*Ingredients
This dish is very popular in the village areas of Indonesia and Malaysia.
*300 g corn kernels.
* 1 beer, drink beer while preparing fritters,
*3 tbs plain flour.
*1 tbs rice flour.
*1 chopped spring onion.
* 1 egg
*salt to own taste.
*1 cup oil for frying.

* Spices.
* 1 tsp coriander seeds.
* half teaspoon white pepper.
*7 shallots.
* garlic and chili to own taste
.
* Method.
* Grind coriander, white pepper, shallots and garlic until then are a paste.
* Add corn and grind for a further 3 minutes.
* You can use a blender but the mortar and pestle brings out the flavour a lot more in my opinion.
* Mix with plain flour, rice flour, salt, egg and spring onion.
* Fry for between 7 and 10 minutes until it turns a golden-brown colour.

                  • I'd use creamed corn, and only enough oil to fry. I'd drink the merlot that was omitted from the recipe.
                    • No deep fried things for me.
                      • Maybe use an air fryer or put in oven. I dont do deep fried either

                      • tea totler too, me. I drink Adam's Ale. Occasionally with a little bit of fizz if I'm feeling frisky (aka Soda Water).
                      • Adam's ale = water = funny. Soda water in the US translate into carbonated water which has caffeine in it - will give you a buzz - lol!

                                                        • It is a recipe, not a question. There is a big difference. It is also a very important part of the diet of people who live in areas of limited food supplies.

                                                          it appears that you are not aware that others live very different lives to you. Obviously, she would be better off joining Rewardia, Philippines. In my own case I am an Australian citizen and my work commitments mean I often make short term trips between Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and The Philippines. I can not however participate in surveys because I am not a full time resident of the host country.

                                                      • Do you mean a can of corn kernels or corn cobs stripped and then added that way raw? I love corn fritters but the cost of corn has been high lately and I can't afford it. If you mean a can of drained corn doesn't that, even when drained, make the fritters mushy? I only want clarification because I do have lots of cans of corn kernels but not the fresh stuff. I appreciate you sharing your recipe!

                                                        • canned would work. My corn fritter recipe uses creamed corn in a can.
                                                        • Alas, there is no such thing as canned food where I live. In fact there is no supermarket. Everything is therefore fresh produce.

                                                          Thanks Linda! Yes canned creamed corn would do the trick. Have a good day!

                                                                  • Flour ,canned corn and some dried spices is cheaper than chips mate .
                                                                  • I guess it's all right for cheap fresh corn where Matt Black comes from but raw corn in some parts of Oz costs too much for those of us on what the Gov. pays us.
