Are you a Plugger?
Tom S Qld24-Nov-24 02:51 pm
"Pluggers" are defined as rural, blue-collar workers who live a typical working-class lifestyle, accompanied by a mentality characteristic of the G.I. and Baby Boomer generations.
If you think you are a "Plugger", what is it that you do, that makes you think you qualify?

As long as you don't care who you offend or do not offend and you just get on with it, regardless .... then, yes, you are a plugger. Who now has covid. Good luck with that.

You know Aussies and Americans have very different ways of saying things. Constantly am I confronted with a word I'd have no way of knowing in which context you are using it in......like Plugger. Lol

A 'Plugger' is a person who is set in his/her ways and just plugs away in a determined manner at life, not caring about right or wrong, politics, other people's feelings, convention, religion, or anything else. They just get on with it

so to you, if not too personal to ask, is a Plugger a good thing or not? Or could it be a combo of good and persnickity?

A good thing. Don't get too caught up in things. More of a ‘she'll be right’ which is a frequently used idiom in Australian and New Zealand culture that expresses the belief that "whatever is wrong will right itself with time", which is considered to be either an optimistic or apathetic outlook.

Tom thank you for helping me understand this concept and how it can be used various ways. Most people won't give me a minute to explain anything and I really am trying to understand the Australian people more since I read and am exposed to what they comment on, that may be really odd to me, just as some of my vernacular may be strange to you.....all the same. In my isolated existence right now, I am very thankful for your patience and time explaining this to me. Thank you friend.

Aghhh, and you are have a quick wit and humorous way about you. I can definitely appreciate that. I thank you for the encouragement. Little moments like your hearing my struggle and validating it, to me, are little moments in life that string us from good times to more good times.......making the rough times endurable. Here is a popular phrase of yours I doƙ know...."good on ya, matey".

In Caboolture it was explained to me, that there are two things that you don’t need to qualify to live there, one was teeth, the other was shoes, would that make you a plugger?

      Yes!

You're a Plugger if your driver's license photo is of you holding your favorite old dog. "He always sits up front with me and barks if he see's something that I didn't see. He deserves to be in the photo."
