SHOULD WE CHANGE THE WAY WE CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS SO AS NOT TO OFFEND OTHER FAITHS?
Comments
  • We have an entire month for gay pride and one day for a religious celebration. I'm not gay and couldn't care less about joining in with pride celebrations, but I would t stop them all doing what they do. It seems to be, we should all enjoy what we love and leave everyone else to do the same. Taking the stance that "I don't agree with that" or "that offends me, it should be banned" has what's got us to the place we are at now.

              • The good thing about Aus is that you are permitted the freedom to engage in Xmas and Easter...or not. Some white Aussies don't bother anymore and that's ok. Just do your thing if that's what you want. Just don't tell others how to live. Some politicians and public servants and the Wealthy elite should just shut the heck up! Live and let live!

                • It's not the average Australian that objects, it's the elite who cause this division between cultures. They are very sick people, including the council's in Australia. PC.

                  • Bob Katter, the politician had attacked Qantas for not playing any Christmas music in its first class player lounge. He described Alan Joyce as the worst Australian. Joyce was born in Ireland. Who said this dill was ever Australian anyway? He's no longer with the Australian company now.

                    • The Stonnington council refused to use the words, Merry Christmas; to the dismay of some people.

                      • No. Traditional Christmas is Christmas. Each nationality can have there own Christmas celebration in there own way in there own home country. Let each country celebrate Christmas in the way they have always felt comfortable with it.

                        • I don't think too many non Christians are actually 'offended' by it. It seems mostly to be line pushed by conservatives and others anticipating people *might* be offended. Oh and the toxic Murdoch media. Most people just get on with their own lives and celebrations. Every group has nutjobs who can't wrap their head around live and let live, including right wing 'Christians'. The vast majority just do their thing, no issue.

                          • Wrong! It's not the conservative people who do this. It's the leftwing and evil people.

                        • I HAVE NO RELIGION, YET I MARRIED A CATHOLIC, RAISED MY KIDS CATHOLIC, AND INTRODUCED THEM TO THE JOYS OF THE FESTIVE SEASON. NOW THEY WANT US TO USE OTHER WORDS INSTEAD OF CHRISTMAS, SO AS NOT TO OFFEND THOSE OF OTHER FAITHS. I WILL NEVER CALL IT ANYTHING ELSE. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

                          • They can go get stuffed if they do not like it!
