mary c11-Jul-22 09:22 pm
Hello dear fellow Rewardian grafters..anyone got some good tv shows/movies etc they are watching at moment?
We haven't gone anywhere since march coz of covid version 201 having fun in the community and ruining ours.
So lots of viewing going down.
Anything good anyone wants to share or recommend?

Another film worth having a look at. Nicole Kidman plays Gertrude Bell, one of the most remarkable people (of either sex) to have ever lived. Archaeologist, mountain climber, poet, translator, linguist, explorer, diplomat, spy, (just a handful of her many accomplishments) and all in a time in which women were virtually prohibited from doing any of those things, for the most part, and in territories that even men of the time feared to tread. In addition to being the world's expert on both Sunni and Shiite relations before, during and after WWII, she was charged with drawing up the boundaries for modern day Iraq. She was respected, admired and desired. The film coped some bad reviews, but how can you pack all of these achievements into a couple of hours in any great depth. I thought it was really interesting just to learn something of Gertrude Bell, whom I had no knowledge of.

A great film I saw a few years back and one I think I will chase up again is Loving Vincent, an animated film that explores the last years of Vincent van Gogh's life. The film brings the paintings of Vincent van Gogh to life to tell his remarkable story with all the background scenes basically being his artworks and the characters are drawn in. It is structured like a detective story. Armand Roulin (voiced by Douglas Booth) is the young man from Arles carrying an unopened letter that van Gogh wrote to his brother shortly before his death. As he tries to deliver the letter, Roulin discovers more and more about the artist. I found it absolutely fascinating.

oh that sounds so interesting..i must tell my sis and nephew as they totally love Vincent. Did you hear on the news that an undiscovered painting of his have been found- painted on the back of one on display in a gallery. Apparently he was so impoverished he would turn the canvases over to do another painting as he couldn't afford a new one.

There are lots of interesting documentaries available on catch up TV (Mostly SBS On Demand, ABC Iview, 9Now and 7+) Hubby and i have also recently watched Mystery Road: Origin. It is the Prequel to Mystery Road and the movie Goldstone is connected to these two series too. They are available on ABC iview.

              ·
            • APBmary c
I usually cull everything after a certain time...keeps things fresh...I also wrote to Rewardia explaining that I needed more points...they wrote back and told me that everyone else was happy...they obviously don't read their own feedback...its taking far far too long to get to the next 50,000...I'm not happy at present and might pack it in....

Deadliest Catch,, and it is still on with new episodes,,, i watched, it was a fishery that i wished i had got into when i was younger,, but i got no regrets with my fishing history, not many folks are able to make a decent living without having a job,, i just untied the vessel from the docks and we went fishing until it was full, then came home,, no job, it was my hobby from a very young age, i was extremely lucky to have done that,, after the army, fishing was great for my head,, and didn't have to deal with a busload of people every day, drive to work an hour in traffic, have to deal with the public in general,, my hobby and mind medicine,, ;-))
