  Thanks for that daily dose. I was working in the middle east (Sultanate of Oman) back in '89. Was walking on one of their lovely beaches, 2 young US girls were lying on the sand and had 2 ferrets on leashes with them. I had to stop - so unusual. Got talking to them. They were out from US on school holidays, their father was employed here. OK, where did the ferrets come from? We brought them out as pets on the flight. How did you get them through customs and quarantine? (I worked for the police and customs, so I was curious). Easy they replied. The customs official asked what type of animal they were - ferrets - Oman didn't have any ferrets. The official looked through the list of banned animals - no ferrets. He looked through the list of allowed animals - no ferrets. Well, he says, it must be OK. You can take them through. !!!!!! 10 days later there was an article in the local paper. 2 pet ferrets have escaped from a house, 1 male and 1 female, and have run off into the bush and desert, not to be seen again.
