womens inventions

I was looking up something tonight and thought - What have women invented? I was really surprised at their ingenuity but not surprised that men had taken the praise for some of them.
Some things women invented:
Windscreen Wipes, Dishwasher, rotary engine, coffee filter, disposable nappies, computer software, Wi-Fi, radioactivity, anti-fungal antibiotic, airplane muffler, Apgar score, glass aquariums, beer, Barbie doll, birth control pill, Bra, Bullet proof fibre, chemotherapy and many medical items and products, circular saw, electric water heater and electric fridge, Jerky, Laser cataract surgery, Life Raft, Retractable dog leash which I have and find fabulous, Signal flares, many products for women in the kitchen, software that made the Moon landing possible, and this is only a few.
Just a few of the inventions men have taken credit for:
cure for leprosy, Monopoly board game, wireless communication, dark matter, DNA double Helix, and lots to do with computers even disposable nappies.
Women have brains plus logic but it is never utilized much or it is denigrated.
As we know some countries will not educate women and they are treated like they should be ashamed of how they look etc.
Why are men so scared of women's intellect?

You will find clauses in most work contracts, that state if you invent or create anything on their time, they take credit for it. How many innovations, inventions and other ideas have people created, only for the people working above them and companies, to claim as their own, and not give credit where it鈥檚 due?

"Jest plain old inter sex jealousy". If you look back in history and we had been given the chance we might have helped with some of the messes men have made in the troubles and wars of yesteryear!

Some inventions are not really helpfull. If an invention is something that is useful to me then I don't really care whether a man or a woman was responsible. I appaud them.

I agree but also recognition no matter what gender is also relevant. A lot better these days. Remember, women could not even write a book not so many years ago under their female names.

this is a true story and I love my mum to bits but after my dad passed she brought up 3 boys on her own and with little help, I have to tell this story, our house needed to be painted internally and she decided she was going to do it, she went to the local hardware and listened and learned she did the prep and got ready to paint it was a hot day we told her we would stay home and help, nope off to school she said! when we arrived home she had done a wicked job we were amazed but she was passed out asleep on the sofa, we thought to let her sleep and we were puzzled why she had 2 coats on such a hot day, and when we asked her she told us that's what the directions said to apply 2 coats for a better result, we let than one go, but her determination drove her and she did a lot of things she never thought she would do, she was her own women and she gave me everything I have in my arsenal today, respect,/honor/integrity and the list could go on, i listen and take on all advice from women [ mainly women been married 38 years ] but kids any who cares to give it

Yes a great mother. Women can do most things. I too have painted many of my own homes plus my sisters and mothers from top to bottom over the years and yes my sons were amazed but not so much my daughter. I have done a touch of carpentry, laid pavers in my back yard, set out the gardens etc. Not much I have not turned my hand to either out of need. Only thing I will not touch are plumbing and electrical work. Experts there thank you. I actually am a great painter (or was). These days I find it impossible to even get up on a chair to change a light bulb.

A, great mother is the reason most kids get the opportunity to invent things, especially back then and even more so now, well done on how you have gotten to where you are now i have nothing but respect for you , and i have to tell you i am 62 and i need people to hold the ladder when i change a light bulb damm sciatica but well done

Marie Curie was a Polish and naturalized French physicist and chemist who conducted pioneering research on radioactivity. She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, the first person to win a Nobel Prize twice, and the only person to win a Nobel Prize in two scientific fields. Her husband, Pierre Curie, was a co-winner of her first Nobel Prize, making them the first married couple to win the Nobel Prize and launching the Curie family legacy of five Nobel Prizes. She was, in 1906, the first woman to become a professor at the University of Paris.

Marie won the 1911 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for her discovery of the elements polonium and radium, using techniques she invented for isolating radioactive isotopes. Under her direction, the world's first studies were conducted into the treatment of neoplasms by the use of radioactive isotopes.

She founded the Curie Institute in Paris in 1920, and the Curie Institute in Warsaw in 1932; both remain major medical research centers. During World War I, she developed mobile radiography units to provide X-ray services to field hospitals.

German engineer Felix Wankel, inventor of a rotary engine. I'm pretty sure hes not a woman. But true there are many instances of women's ingenuity. Another is Velcro. Most inventions are team efforts following an idea put forward. Usually the kudos go to the team leader.

Who said we are scared we in the Western and in a lot of Asian countries embrace it. Cultures are different and those that are less liberal are generally based on religious beliefs. And this is by no means at all any criticism of any one group. If you can tell me how to change the status quo steeped in thousands of years of belief without further eroding the gains you let us know. I work in an environment where we treat all with equality and that includes above all women and we make the extra effort to employ a woman for a role as long as they are suitably qualified and meet the selection criteria which includes working well with others. Nice day Linda C

But making that extra effort to employ a women is still not right. It should not come down to gender just who is best for the job. I have had to put up with men in all walks of life and belittling women, making fun of them, ignoring them, degrading their abilities is common. Yes there are some men who are great but unfortunately the majority are not. Yesterday it came out a Catholic Boys school has a rapist list. Not long ago another boys college rated which girl was more ........... and it goes on. The older men are not passing on the respect for women and I will say the young girls of today need to smarten up and show respect for themselves. Saying they have the right to dress as they want is not the answer as in many cases they are wearing barely there clothes, drinking, swearing etc. Seeing a fallen down drunk of either sex is not a nice look.
          • Lee b 979050Linda C
Linda the extra effort is to ensure that gender based suitability for the role is not right. By that I mean we must be seen as doing everything possible for both male and female work colleagues for them to understand that gender based biased is not acceptable in any way in our society. I can understand your frustrations. However we have a long way to go with this but the steps we are taking only make the workplace better for all. Outside the work place I cannot comment other than saying that education starts at home and government commercials and school curriculums are helping. It will take time. But it's a positive step in the right direction. Years of status quo biased and prejudice cannot be undone overnight.

Yes there is a long way to go but I feel we are slipping backwards. Yes some companies seem to be doing the right thing but whether to be PC, not get a fine or to truly believe there are smart women out there who need to be given equal opportunities only they can say.
