Interesting facts........... Do you have one too?

At one point, the France-Switzerland border actually goes through a hotel. Can you imagine that? You're on a trip and depending on what rooms you're family are assigned, you could be sleeping in separate countries? I thought that was just a strange and unique fact. If you have an interesting fact or strange piece of knowledge, would you like to share it? It could be anything.........

No, live in States. I'm a fine diner as in Taco Bell, so if you can't impress with a Taco Supreme ( comes with tomatoes and sour cream....a fine and precious addition) then I can't go out with you because my standards are out the roof. Kind of like Mars and it's millions. I actually see many "Mar" tians visiting here from Mars in my city here. Evidently all our Tesla self driving cars testing the markets here on our crowded streets in Phoenix draws quite the crowd from other planets. The only thing that really bothers our tourists is when a Tesla, Waymo, Google self drive, or Lyft and Uber test drives (no one in the car, driverless cars) hits and pulverizes a pedestrian every week. But hey, we have to have driverless cars to get us around and some deaths aren't going to stop anyone. Of course I hope you get I'm making jest of a very serious issue in our state. Because people are dying because of getting run over by these all too necessary driverless vehicles. Phx, AZ., is I believe, the largest test market in the world. I know we're up there, so don't quote me exactly. As for asking others out on this site, you HAVE YOUR ACCOUNT FROZEN FOR DOING IT, SO being a little funny is fine, but don't actually ask anyone out here, because you'll pay by not being able to play on Rewardia. I had a few on my back and asking them nicely to stop didn't work. But administration over content got the point across. Never seen those guys since. And was followed up by an administrator that their accounts were cancelled and they lost all they had earned. Apparently, these rules are in the policies that no one takes the 6 hours to read. Lol.

In Ohio it's illegal to fish for whales on Sundays. Likewise it is illegal to get a fish drunk.

Umm Debra, there are no whales in Ohio WATERS AT ALL. So I guess it would be illegal to fish for them on Sunday, as they don't exist.

But your right about no McDonald's in Antarctica. In fact there's no fast food in Antarctica because the government supplies all food to people living there. I learned this in grade school. Did a whole presentation on Antarctica.

The coat of arms of Australia, officially called the Commonwealth Coat of Arms, is the formal symbol of the Commonwealth of Australia. A shield, depicting symbols of Australia's six states, is held up by the kangaroo, and the emu. The animals were chosen because they are native to Australia. They symbolize a nation moving forward, since neither animal can move backwards easily – i.e., symbolizing forward progress.

99% of Finnish people go to a sauna EVERY WEEK. Just like the English like their tea, and those in the Netherlands like to bicycle ride, the Finnish love a good visit to one of the many Saunas in their cities. Maybe that's like American women (not myself) making it a monthly ritual to have their hair colored and nails built up and manicured. But I also know it's not an astounding 99%.

Plane crashes and shark attacks are more dramatic, and the newspapers and news channels love them. You'll never see a grave headstone that says, 'killed by a falling coconut' or 'kicked to death by an angry donkey'.

Now how you did you come to know that interesting tidbit, if you don't mind my asking. That's extremely interesting and it makes sense that it would have meaning, because I have seen all three at one time or another. Over the years, of course.

Long story... I was working in an Arabic country doing a contract back in the 90's. They had huge 8 lane freeways which went for miles, with large grass center strips and huge round-abouts. Every so often there would be a statue of military significance i.e., charging cavalry, war hero on horseback, horse drawn gun carriage, etc... One day I was travelling with an English army mate, and he explained why some of the mounted horses had been posed with different legs in the air.

Bristol, TN and Bristol, VA (twin cities in USA) have the same name. Also, the state line runs down - State Street - depending on what side of State Street you work - will affect your economic status. The minimum wage in Bristol, TN is $7.25 an hour (2022) and the minimum wage in Bristol, VA is $11.00 an hour (2022)!

I wonder how many people look for work on the other side of the street to make more money. But, I guess you'd live in another state than you work and that would get messy when it comes to taxes and med insurance, if you get it through your employer. Makes me wonder many things....

Im surprised the differences in min. wages is so different when people live so close. Of course it's the States themselves that decide min. wages, but I wonder if it causes a lot of people to move, since they don't have to move far, to get a better min. wage. I'd like to think I'd move. Especially if it's across a street or river!!

Another strange fact that happened to my sister while she was pregnant ,was her feet grew1/2 a shoe size. Apparently not just swelling ,women's feet can grow up to one shoe size bigger and remain that way after pregnancy. This is due to stretching and softening of ligaments and widening of the various joints in the feet from hormonal changes and carrying extra weight.

oh, there's the downside to a different size foot. But she got a beautiful child out of it. And that blows away any shoes.

The ancient Egyptians used to bury some of their mummies with a body part made from gold. They would put a tongue inside their mouths made from pure gold foil . This was so they could speak with the deities( gods) through their journey in the afterlife

I find many of the concepts ancient peoples believed in to be so "deep". Like they really were passionate about what would connect them to God's as they understood Them. It had to be an amazing era to have lived in.

There was an American woman in the 1920s who lived in a state that decided to outlaw moonshine. To combat this she built a house so it sat on the border. Her moonshine and distillery were kept at the back of the house on the legal side so she couldn't be arrested.

Whoa. Good reason to invent that vest. But interesting, none the less. Great ideas are born out of necessity. Thanks.
