Songs at your funeral.

Yes, this can seem like a very sombre and morbid thing to think about, let alone talk about... but we are all going to die eventually.
Celebrating our lives after we have gone doesn't have to be a sad thing.
Most people have some type of music played to see them off, what 3 songs would you select for your final farewell?
I would have:
* Slim Dusty- "The Biggest Disappointment"
I chose this song because it is how i feel about my blood family. They always made me feel like a disappointment (except my grandparents, they were awesome and showered me in love).

* Kasey Chambers- "We're All Gonna Die Someday"
This song is true, fun and gives people something to think about and will hopefully make them laugh.

* Boyz II Men- "End of The Road

I look forward to hearing what your choices would be to celebrate your lives. :)

A haka will be performed at my tangi (funeral) led by my sons. That's all I want, people can play whatever they like, it's not like I'm gonna complain about a crap song lol.

Funerals are for the living, not the dead. I came into the world with no fanfare, and intend to leave the same way. The only winners out of funerals are undertakers, florists, printers, vicars and caterers. But if somebody wants to, as the ashes go over the side, play The Streets of London. on a cheap trannie /tape recorder will do.

When my Nan was alive i wanted a lovely funeral, burial- the works. But when she passed, boy did a lot of crap happen starting with her family not following her wishes. Due to that i have now told my hubby that if i go first, i don't actually want a funeral or anything. They should use the money that would have been spent on a funeral towards something they would all like. I am happy for my body to be given to science, sent to a body farm, whatever the cheapest option is. The songs i have mentioned for myself though, are songs that do have meaning to me.

Country Roads is 1 song I want by John Denver. Because I like the words about life is older older than the trees etc all my memories gather round me so take me home country roads to the place I belong. And I hope I am taken in death to the place I belong

I like your choices Kylie :) I don't want a churchy funeral thing. Would def love Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam and some Steely Dan going down, damn and Big Log Robert Plant, but the song i poss love most because it takes me to another better place is a song called Violet by Seal. Its so beautiful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtLSMMWOJ7I

no funeral, just play "Time" https://youtu.be/JwYX52BP2Sk Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day Fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way Kicking around on a piece of ground in your hometown Waiting for someone or something to show you the way Tired of lying in the sunshine, staying home to watch the rain You are young and life is long, and there is time to kill today And then one day you find ten years have got behind you No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun And you run, and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking Racing around to come up behind you again The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older Shorter of breath and one day closer to death Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say Home, home again I like to be here when I can And when I come home cold and tired It's good to warm my bones beside the fire Far away across the field The tolling of the iron bell Calls the faithful to their knees To hear the softly spoken magic spells

ohhhh yes. I think if our old precious long gone brown dog Bronson could have sung a song it would have been this one as his end of days came closer.
