Do you think the American justice system could be improved and how?
    ·
    • Tom S Qld
The American justice system should be apolitical - stay out of politics - unfortunately this has never been the case. Every time Trump goes to court it becomes political. I'm not sure how you could achieve a political-free justice system, but it would be an improvment.

In NSW what dose it cost when you die without a Will
    ·
    • View all 3 replies
    • Tom S Qld
Short answer - it won't cost you anything (you'll be dead), but it will cost your family and frustrate them.
      ·
    • Tom S QldTom S Qld
If you die without a Will, NSW intestacy law sets out who will inherit your estate. This may or may not be who you yourself would choose, and excludes people such as foster or stepchildren, as well as in laws. Your family will need to prove they will be entitled to your estate before they can apply for Letters of Administration. This involves conducting searches to confirm what category of relative will inherit, that there is nobody more closely related who will be entitled, and that everyone has been accounted for. If your family has difficulty proving who is entitled, or if you have no known family, the Court can grant administration to NSW Trustee and Guardian. This allows your assets to be preserved and your debts to be paid at the same time searches are being carried out to confirm who is entitled to your estate. This can all take a long time and can be frustrating for your relatives. Best to have a will in place. Service NSW has an excellent web page https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/get-started-making-a-will this should help you to get started.

    why was Trump elected?
    ·
    • View all 4 replies
    • Tom S Qld
Many people who voted for Donald Trump said that they felt the economy was much better when he was in office, and they were sick of trying to make ends meet. Americans focused on the question Trump asked at every rally. “Are you better off now than you were two years ago?” Democrats should have got rid of Joe Biden a lot earlier and had a run-off to find a new Democratic candidate. Kamala Harris was not the right person. Mostly, Americans are struggling to find good people to become good political candidates. They keep electing idiots. Lack of choice. They may regret this in the long run…. Be careful what you wish for.

    • Tom S QldLiane H
45 years of Trump’s legal disputes = 3,500 Lawsuits to date. Sooner or later, he's going to try to avoid jail by saying something completely stupid in a courtroom and a judge will act. A court assessment order is made before sentencing. The order requires a person to be assessed by a psychiatrist. This may involve detaining the person at a mental health service. The court decides whether to make a court secure treatment order or impose another type of sentence based on the psychiatrist's assessment.

why is it that cigarettes can cause death and harmful to your body but they are still for sale ?
    ·
    • View all 6 replies
    • Tom S Qld
Because the taxes on tobacco make up between 2% to 2.7% of the total government revenue. In 2020 cigarette taxes = 15,793.4 million dollars In 2023 cigarette taxes = 11,005.4 million dollars. There's too much money in it for the government.

My opinion, Melbourne (and Canberra) has the best bike paths and parks and gardens, but weather can be a hard to handle - 4 seasons in a day. Sydney, never lived there, but people swear by it. Perth, never lived there, but people swear by it. Has nice weather. Brisbane, I spent my boarding school years here. Has a temperate climate, summer is warm, winter is mild. I came back here to retire. I live without heating or air conditioning. My quarterly power bills for the last 4 quarters have been $90. So, my vote is Brisbane - for my stage in life.

      • Glenice L 1244113
Technically, if you line them all up, light and throw the match at the gas stove, then run outta there, as all 3 stoves should be burning (up) too. Seriously, light (ignite the match) to the wood OR the coal and make your water /meal over time.

      • Tom S Qld
The chicken or the egg? The chicken or the egg causality dilemma is commonly stated as the question, "which came first: the chicken or the egg?" The dilemma stems from the observation that all chickens hatch from eggs and all chicken eggs are laid by chickens. Although the question is typically used metaphorically, evolutionary biology provides literal answers, made possible by the Darwinian principle that species evolve over time, and thus that chickens had ancestors that were not chickens. If the question refers to eggs in general, the egg came first

      ·
      • View all 6 replies

Because the water in the tray cools down to match the surrounding air temperature and hot water will cool faster as the differences in temperatures are greater. That's why I never leave a teaspoon in my cup of tea. it cools down quicker..same principle!

hot water freezes quicker than cold water because hot water loses its mass as it evaporates hence less water to freeze, but i like your answer aswell
