What would you do. I feel my confidentiality has been breached
I feel my right to privacy has been breached but am I over reacting.

Ok to set the scene ..,I had an intense phone discussion yesterday with an employee of a business because they did not resolve my issue I was calling about. I don t think I was rude but I was not subtle about my feelings. I probably wasn t nice but I was angry. I just got the person answering the phone. No idea who they were.

That s not really the point. Where I wish to focus is today I get a text from someone. I wouldn t say I know them (they re a tradesperson I ve used in the past) anyway they message and identify themselves as the parent of the worker I spoke to and have had a go at me about it.

Now I get a parent going in to bat for their child, but my problem is the fact that an employee of a business has obviously gone home and discussed in detail a customer interaction and clearly mentioned my name which the parent has presumably recognised and found my number and hassled me.

Now we ve all gone home and told family about bad interactions but is it crossing a privacy line to go into enough detail to ID the person and have someone else (not related to the business or the matter at hand) have a go at me?

At this point I m a lot more negative towards the business than I was (I m downright ropable) and I m now considering escalating this to a higher level (manager, state manager etc) as a breach of privacy. Does that seem reasonable?
