Anyone got a tasty recipe they want to share? or just the name..
mary c21-Nov-22 06:47 pm
I am "feeding" off foodie discussions by some of you dear folks at the moment and discussion's with a Learned friend here..
So my recipe du jour is Caramilk No Bake Slice..
whats not to like??
Apart from the fact it sounds incredibly sweet and would prob make my remaining teeth ache!
Anyone have something decadent or deliciously desirable they would like to make? or get someone else to make and they just eat it!

Bread and Butter Pudding...made an experimental one in winter- croissants and rhubarb in the creamy mix made in the crockpot- Mon Dieu it was good.

Alison Holst recipe makes the best citrus slice - loved by all. It's my mums book so don't have name of it. Go to Mac n cheese is from Brian Lagerstrom. It's lighter than the traditional rue recipes and is very quick to prepare - YouTube 10 min Mac n cheese Brian Lagerstrom. Tahini choc chip cookies from David Lebovits - best cookies I've ever made, such a good recipe. His lemon cake is a crowd pleaser too. Highly recommend any of his recipes.

ohhh great stuff- thanks Christina- i love love lemon anything..citrus slice so good. And lemon cream roll..though of course only buy it- hard to find though. Lemon muffins, lemon cake- delish. I haven't had a good mac n cheese since the dear chef left my husband's care home- he made the best one. Wonder if i could summons the confidence to try one myself :)

I use wine biscuits (red pack, not sure if it's Griffins or Arnots) for the Alison Holst recipe. I've tried ginger nuts with lime zest and that's OK but the best is orange plus lemon and the wine bikkies.

That reminds me of many decades back with one of my best school buddy's making Gingernut "Buche de Noel"- gingernuts soaked in something delish and norty- maybe Baileys- and then wedged and smothered in cream and put in fridge to eat the next day.

Hehe yum. That sounds very tasty! Oh also the David Lebovits recipe is his lemon yogurt cake with apricot cherry compot. I've found his recipes turn out perfect the first try. When my hubby tried his cake the first he demanded I make some more and he's really fussy. I just make the cake and icing and haven't tried the compot.

Easy and quick yummy pasta...Either use freshly cooked pasta (spirals, penne, shells etc) or left over cooked plain pasta.Add some pesto sauce and aoli or mayo, fresh herbs such as chopped chives, parsley, coriander, basil then add some seeds like hemp, poppy, sesame, sunflower.Mix it all up and you are done! You can also add meat such as sliced chicken, ham or any left over cold meat, sliced sundried tomatoes or fresh cherry ones.I use gluten free pasta because I have to and it tastes amazing!..It's a no fail easy recipe that anyone can do.

Awww thanks Mary..I do but I buy the gluten free bases and just add my own toppings because it's so much easier.
        ·
      • mary cKatzeye
Nice- though i suppose the gluten free bases a bit more pricey- sigh.

It's getting that way lol but so is everything else with inflation and supply issues, war in Ukraine etc etc.I have noticed a lot more increase of Pams gluten free products which is a supermarket housebrand I buy from New World but there is also a bit of a shortage of some of their products too so I am now having to buy the more expensive brands grrrr it's a vicious circle but I have no choice living with coeliac disease.

Had a 1/2 purple cabbage given to me recently. Made a German dish called "Heaven and Earth". It's stewed, as the cabbage is quite hard, you add a green apple(heaven) and rashers of bacon or solid bacon called "Speck" (earth) to it and also large dessertspoon of apple cider vinegar to give it a bit of a kick - usually takes about 30 minutes to reduce the cabbage to soft. Serve with potato, mashed or usually just boiled in small lumps. Really it's sweet and sour red cabbage.

I love interesting shaped mix doggies- my wee girl Freddy-May was named Teddy when SPCA got her from the hoarder house she lived in- with a big Rottie, feral cats and geese. She's a pomeranian Chihuahua cross- with long hairy fur, pom feet and tail and a wee chi head. We've had a staffie mix- hubby's boydog before stroke, a white english bullterrier who we adored-her name was Piggins, and others over the years. You've had some special dog children too in the past?

the fried fritz a tomato soup is half a stick of reasonably fine sliced jacobs fritz chopped into bite-sized quarters after frying, two cans of woolies home brand soup half a can of water, half a can of milk mix the two together and enjoy, gets at least 4 fed, great for a budget or when you might be over relaxed if you know what I mean, coco pops and ice cream is an experience everyone should have, along with twisties and icecream dip, for those special occasions when you need to impress, basically I forgot to buy topping and was looking to have fun with grandkids and icecream works with lots of cereals, i also use honey nut corn flakes as a snitzel crumb with chicken

APB likes the regular ones for churning out whiskey.I've not seen this Jacobs Fritz stick of which u speak, is it found in the deli dept? Can provide the muscle relaxants to go with as have a new prescription, so done ! We used to have our coco pops with milk and topped with a drizzling of condensed milk ...

ohhhh yes..they need to sell a little spoon with the can like they do with the wee tip top vanilla icecream tub at the dairy haha. I wonder what cubes of frozen condensed milk would be like- dropped into a glass of baileys even.
