You're in a restaurant enjoying your meal with your partner & all of a sudden there is a mother with a baby that has to breastfeed. Do you think this is ok?

Yes! For many reasons: 1. Kudos to the mom for taking the time to & giving the baby the baby the best nourishment possible. Alot of moms these days are too lazy & don’t want the hassle when it’s easier to make a bottle. Do not get me wrong i am completely aware some women can’t breastfeed for many reasons but those that do/can kudos. 2. Most establishments have a room where a mom can feed if needed. 3. 99.9% of the time you can’t even tell a mom is feeding unless you’re just completely gawking & in their business anyway. Between having a blanket covering them & the amazing clothes made for nursing moms it looks like they are just comforting baby. Moral of rant is…. Mind your own business & let a mom do her job! If you’re offended STOP staring at her.

So to all the people that think it's fine to make a baby go hungry shame on you... should you be made to wait when your hungry? Oh no you wouldn't like that... breastfeeding is the most natural thing in the world it started when Eve had her first baby and it continues today.. throw a blanket or burp rag over the shoulder and feed on... people are to sensitive these days.. babies have to eat simple as that...

It's normal nowadays which most mothers breastfeed the baby has to eat and I feel like if you have a problem with it don't eat there but this a very nature process whether you breastfeed or bottle feed the baby has to eat

Surely a baby can enjoy being feed the best food nature has on offer that can't be prepared an we educated evolved society is never going to be with-holding for sake of any lesser informed or mentally prudent of un controlled mental states of a few mature tweens it's never a nappy change, why is that?

I think this is okay but there is so many beautiful nursery baby covers now that mothers can sit there and breastfeed babies in a decent way. Unfortunately when you have a young son at that curious age I don't think it's appropriate if a Mom can't understand to do this in a decent way in a restaurant.

I think a woman has every right to breastfeed her child wherever the baby has to eat. I always used blankets, but I can't say mine didn't fall off a time or two. I couldn't just leave my breasts flopping out for everyone to see and I don't necessarily think any woman should, but I get it if she does. It gets frustrating to try and cover yourself and eat too or whatever.

I used to breast feed my kids and it doesn't matter where you are when they get hungry, they want to be fed. If I was in a restaurant yes I would feed them but I usually had a blanket that I would cover up with out of respect for other people. But I don't know why it upsets some people so much, there was a time that this was the ONLY way to feed your chijd. Its natural and best for the child.

Wanda, as you can see from a number of answers below, many men, including myself, would not find it offensive. 6 kids later and one of 7 myself, seen it all. Natural thing to do. When I was up the East Coast in the 80s, it was common to see at Saturday netball, a woman, brown or white, with two babies on her, one on each side, different colours, while the other mum was playing netball. And they were all happy and healthy.

If she does it discreetly you won't even know. Nice baby blanket draped over her shoulder, baby is happy, she can eat, and no one should notice the difference.

Yes, it's totally ok. The baby has to eat too & it's up to the mom on which way the baby is gonna be fed, bottle or breast. Breastfeeding is one of the most normal things I can think of.

It's a natural process wherever we have been and a Mum is brerastfeeding she is doing it in the maost natural way. its not as if she strips of to do so. Heaven knows you only have to go to any beach, almost anywhere in the world, and there are women there who are topless and some men whose clothing is so skimpy they may as well be wearing nothing and no-one bats an eyelid! If you find breastfeeding offensive then it is YOU who has the problem and you need to grow up.

Or do you just like showing off your stuff like that? Lmao... I feel like the people who just bust their top half out, without a blanket or pre-pumping, just love the attention or maybe even fighting or controversy or drama period. Be a respectful adult! It is not just about nature! Yes it is natural! But you could show respect for others!!!!! We had a breast feeding room at my old job. And even if we did not, everyone I know is a respectable adult who covers up, goes in a private room or PRE-PUMPS, PERIOD!!!!! WOOT WOOT LOL

It is perfectly natural and okay to breastfeed a child in a restaurant and legal as well. However she should be discreet and attempt to cover her and the baby feeding up. But after a few weeks the child tends to often push the blanket away. She also is eating her own meal and should not be expected to leave and go somewhere else and let the meal she paid for get cold. No one seems to have one iota of issue when they see a calf of fawn or colt nursing in the field. God made women to have breasts primarily for feeding their babies not for men to oooh and ogle at. Just turn your eyes elsewhere and mind your own business.

If they feel uncomfortable or disgusted then the problem is definitely theirs and they should seek help to overcome their sexual hangup.

It always fascinates me that breasts are flaunted in films, TV, and other media yet when they are used for what they were intended people get offended. It has absolutely nothing to do with morals

No need to have everything hanging out everywhere. Newer mothers might need a space to do it privately, but experienced mothers can usually do this unbeknown to anyone if there is the space to do it. I always think there that now there are wheelchair friendly spaces, its about time someone recognised that women for many years put up with steps and flights of stairs with prams and small children. How about devoting a small space to families feeding small babies for a mother to be able to do this as some restaurants it would not be easy to feed a baby due to lack of space. But overall I don't object to someone feeding in public - since when did something so natural become something to be ashamed of?

I think if the mother wants to have a private space to herself to beeastfeed (becuae they themselves might not be comfortable to do it in front if everyone) then that mother can find a chair in a secluded place in the restraint and do it there. If you have an issue with seeing other people breastfeed, then you can move seats.

As for wailing babies, my parents would actually just let me cry it out. Not sure if that's a good solution either.
