1 pt I remember going one time to a party that the high school kids went to. There was a lot of smoke in the air, drinking and a lot of sexual fooling around. I was scared and just sat in the kitchen where the light was on and then left. Stayed away from parties after that. I had 3 friends who I chatted with between classes. Worked part time at Sears, was in fashion shows and taught etiquette classes to young girls on Saturdays for 8 weeks at the store. Loved it. Babysat children in my spare time. Loved it. The teen years flew by.

Tried to fit in and be social because that what's expected, did with some people who liked my quote 'quirkiness' (autism) but was horrifically bullied by others, I am much more introverted now that I'm free to be and much prefer my own company or that of other eccentrics lol

I hated it for a numberr of reasons. Firstly because the headmaster was an odious English Clergyman. Secondly because we were expected to regard the British queen as our Head of State, this despite the fact that it was under her and her family's ruke that the genocide of the Irish People was authorised by them nut that horrible English Anglican priest played the British National Anthem in church after every service yet we were not even part of britain but the Sovereign State of the republic of Ireland.

1 point, high school was lonely, was bullied. Yet when I finished year 12 realise it was somewhere to go to and was sad.
·

I was bullied throughout school. I couldn't wait to leave school thinking the bullying would stop. It seems adult bullies are just as common and bad as school bullies, sometimes worse than school bullies. Then you get the keyboard warriors. :/
·
Beth 348992
I'm in that wonderful generation where technology/social media really ramped up so I got bullied in person AND online lol. Haven't really been bullied since/keep to myself mostly but definitely seen it amongst other adults, people need to grow up and behave honestly

I had been schooled in the Catholic School system and the nuns were very annoyed when my mother sent to a public high school. On the first day I realised everyone knew one another because they had only come from 2 feeder schools so I was the odd one out. It didn't bother me too much, I simply put my head down and studied. It may account for the fact that I have never been invited to any school reunions, firstly I was viewed as traitor for leaving the Catholic system and not being one of them in the public system. However, I don't think any of my children have ever been invited to a school reunion either.

I struggled with marks in high school, I blame it on my dad being an alcoholic and coming from a war zone as a child. Therefore, I kind of kept to myself but had some friends. Some of them bullied me. However as I’m now 70 yrs. Old I could care less about those assholes that were so mean. I was very successful in my life, married with 2 lovely kids and 4 grandkids. I still feel the same about those Bullies, a Leopard never changes his spots. However, I have moved on…

My father decided I was not to go to a higher level school (Level 12) as he felt all that was wasted on girls who would get married a few year's after leaving at 3rd year High. I topped my year in English and went on to relearn shorthand (now deceased) and a few year's later acquired by night study what was then called "matriculation". Didn't attempt marriage until I was 24.

Schooling, regardless of year level (k to bachelor degree) was an activity to be endured until finally finished; but learning has always been an enjoyable activity. "School spirit" was, and still is, anathema to me.

I was a little bit of all of those! I was often shy, and I did hang out with the smart kids, but I was very good at cross-country and track so I knew the jocks too and I was a good musician. Music and sports brought me out of my shell. I also studied auto mechanics so I guess I was well rounded.

We didn't have much money, and I wore second hand clothes. My hair was full, mousy brown and wavy. Surfer girls all had straight, blonde hair. I got along better with the boys than the girls, who made fun of me. I also was bullied, but I got through it all! ;-D

Wow so many of us were loners! We could've made a loner club! Haha~ I was a loner, switched high schools 4 times before grade 11, and was a goth/punk.. I lived in a very conservation city so I got bullies everywhere, which contributed to my ditching school
·
Beth 348992
I badly wished I could have ditched or switched schools... 13 years later and I've become a bit casual goth now, so not sure what that means haha. Maybe my goth phase was in there too but just super delayed lol

Very young, almost 2years younger than the majority of students. Passed very well, good at sport had a close friend group but would mingle between others. Couldn't stand bullying. Felt a bit different from others as I worked after school cared for my siblings ,cooked, cleaned and cared for my deaf and blind grandfather. I had very little social time outside of school.
·
Liane H
That is a lot on plate for a youngster .You did well ! I was a year younger being an earlier birthday in the year,, and smaller. I thought that was harder looking back but not compared to all you did . 💜
·
Danielle R 478487Liane H
Thanks Liane. I think everyone had their own problems though ,I had friends with alcoholic or abusive parents,I can't imagine how that would have effected them. My biggest worry was no time for homework. Thank goodness school exams were the majority of my mark,or I would never have passed.

4pts still quiet. Had a geography teacher who would try to bring the quiet students out of their shell with sarcasm. Once the student "bit back" he would move onto the next quiet one-not sure on his logic.....

I kind of was but people kept pairing off with me, think the teachers asked them to be helpful to the "New Aussie" which was nice as being the oldest child always had to do everything at home.

Popular, well-liked, part of the in-crowd, but did not register with me at the time. Unfortunately only did 2years of High School and "papa" told me during the Summer Break that I wasn't going back and had to go to work! I really, really loved going to school.

I was on the quiet side but not overly shy. I had a small circle of friends (some were from grade school and some friends I made in high school). It was a very large school. I was on the track team, and got involved in some of the after school activities
