My household had our last dog for over ten years. He has been gone for over one year. It was a really sad day when Buddy passed away in his sleep. My husband and I are not sure whether we will get another dog or not.Edited 08-May-25 17:43pm

I can promise you that it isn't hyperbole to say that I am still here on planet earth breathing because of my 6 rescue cats! During the deepest depression and suicidal ideation of my life during the later part of 2024 they gave me a will to live and without them I would now be in an urn somewhere! I didn't even WANT to live but the thought of them being placed elsewhere or euthanised was just too much to bare and I had to stay for THEM! They repay me daily with love and affection and I am in a much happier place in 2025. I just wanted to say thank you Lulu, Rosie, Sprinkles, Claude, Paris and Jasper my feline friends and family! Thanks for reading.

Birds are very cute especially the ones that talk or react when they see or hear you.I think if you have time for any pet you should have one. Animals are the best and more loyal than humans .

we have an eight year old rescue cat (Meowy!) who, out of the kindness of her heart and soul, lets us stay in her house and feed her whenever she wants. she is very fickle when it comes to who she wants to sit with. 🙄

He's a beauriful Ragdoll. Called in one day at around 0900 about 4 years ago, stayed until on the dot of 1700, left and then came back the next day at 0900, his habit has never changed. I have him all day and then he goes home.

I have 5 cats, all rescues. I love them dearly but because they have been treated so badly all have health issues which are costly. I did have a little Russian Blue. She was a funny bossy old girl. I still miss her and would love a medium to long hair blue kitten. My youngest son has promised should the cats outlive me he'll take them. However, he has 6 of his own.

Why did they not give option for people who Don't have pets...or even used to but can't for some reason....or even I don't like having pets... shall I go on????

I live in a retirement home so, for me, pets are out of the question, much as I ove them. I raise plants instead and talk to them and they seem to respond.

Alas, after we lost both of our dear dogs from old age we felt we were too old to have any more. Who would look after them if one or both of us died before they did!

I have always had dogs and my little fur baby is at end of life age 151/2. She is hanging in there and although a couple of times I thought the time was here she rallied. I will know when it is time though. She has been the best 4 legged friend a person could have. Never bitten anyone or even drawn blood, is full of character and just loves people especially children.

Two beautiful rescued greyhounds. The racing industry is cruel. Greyhounds are such docile, friendly, faifhfull, loving dogs who literally have to run for their lives. I love my greyhound companions

we have fish, I have no idea how they have lasted this long but they are approaching 3 or 4 years, I recently tried to teach the grandees how to clean the filter, until they saw how much stink came from the filter, what is that they ask, not really thinking I replied poop, they didnt believe me that fish poop and they didnt like the fact they swim in there own mess so I now clean the pond weekly and the filter daily, but they really care and it's one of the first things they do every day getting home from school is a little food and a chat its funny because the fish actually gather around the same time every day as wellEdited 27-Mar-25 11:26am

No option to say NO. NOT ANY MORE - These days pets are more expensive than children, If you want them get them I have better uses for my time and money BUT I have my neighbours dogs I can take for walks and return them home and don't have the costs involved... bit selfish?

Cant believe it could've been that hard to put a straight "no" answer option in there.

I'm surprised that there isn't a clear option of "dog(s) and cat(s)"; most of the people I know either have both or no pets.

'1' lonely point for a little dog right now but, over the years, I've rescued and made pets of an opossum I named Penelope, baby birds, squirrels, goats, sheep, ducks, geese, and even chickens that fell off the trucks in GA! I LOVE animals! ;-D

We have two small dogs and one very cuddly cat.

On our shared family property, we have 2 cats living with us, part Burmese, the male is very talkative, the female a sensitive princess. 3 dogs, 2 staffies and 1 bull mastiff, 5 tortoises, fish and 2 Australian water dragons, living with my son who is an animal lover. I have a cat. Her name is Bella. She is the princess of this house. I talk to her(yes, I know I sound crazy) & she is my baby. I would be lost without her. She has been my saving grace from empty nest syndrome. I love her like crazy!!

none right now but many dogs ,a rabbit,fish,,oh gee could go on , ,they are all gone now and dearly missed..

Currently have 2 cats. One got from a vet and she is now aged 16 and one rescued from the back lane and he is now 12. Another that we rescued from the hay barn at our farm when the mother left him behind. He was our very loved boy and lived until 18.
