If you fold the washing up as it comes off the line, not as much ironing needs to be done.

Once upon a time I ironed sheets and bathmats but not any longer. I still iron hand towels, face washers, tea towels and pillow cases as well as everything other than underwear. Nothing better on a cold or wet day with a good movie, but it does help to have a good iron.

Nothing. I hand wash a lot and hang them to dry on coathangers. Only time I would ever iron is if I were going somewhere special.

Nothing, hang clothes up after they’ve dried. No need to iron. Only iron when I go to wear them if it’s too crinkled.

Absolutely nothing. The last time we ironed was years ago when hubby was in the army and wore a uniform, and i worked in a Hosp. and wore uniform too. Hubby did his time in army and left and I had same career but didn't need uniform anymore.

It is nice to smell the clean ironed pillow cases and sheets . I hate the taste of artichokes but the smell always remindes me clean ironed white sheets. You never put anything away without the clothes etc were ironed. When you reached the age when you wouldnt burn yoursel on the iron you were taught either by your mum or your aunt how to iron shirts trousers (with a nice sharp crease) and you would iron the hankies table napkins table cloths sheets teatowels etc. Back in the dark ages of the 70s we didnt have steam presses or steam irons. We had to be careful ironing silk and linen - wet teatowels were used to make sure no burn holes or melting of the material happened. Unfortunately these days due to less visiting on a Sunday as the special day after church most people have wash and wear clothes that dont need ironing.and hankies are a thing of the past. Another chore that has gone into the annals of yesteryear.

I used to do ironing as a kid as part of chores but I wash, hang on line, fold and put away, I don’t have creased clothes either so don’t see need to waste my time ironing,, would rather use that time more productively!

P. S. Other fabrics will have their wrinkles faded too.

The proper way to get the wrinkles out of fabrics is to Press them and several companies have made Ironing Presses which prolong the life of the fabrics.

The wind does a great job of ironing. BTW none of the wealthy people who had their clothes done at the laundromat knew any different.

My aunt used to wash on Monday, iron on Tuesday, etc. If Mom wanted her to go somewhere, it all depended on that schedule which was in use for decades! Of course, women were more organized because they didn't work out of the house and didn't even drive!

She irons so well, professional cleaners and laundry services are put to shame. She's so humble about being told how perfectly she does anything she does. And I'm not bragging, even though I should be, but she does everything she does literally perfectly. My skills came from learning from her. The only thing I didn't get an opportunity to learn was sewing, bc when my 1st husband up and left one night(had a gf I knew nothing of for over a year. Just thought he had a porno problem, but it was much more, so good riddance, truly), but he took everything I personally owned and was gifted and everything my parents bought to furnish our new little home bc we were too poor to buy ourselves and my parents didn't want us to go into debt for anything, but the house. But he took everything with a bunch if movers when I had an obligation one whole day and I never have seen anything of mine since. My clothes, jewelry, everything personal you can imagine. He furnished his own new house with his gf, so they had nice things. He took my hope chest (ladies out there ought to know what that is and how special to the owner it is). He took my sewing machine, and I've never had enough $ being disabled and unable to work, to buy another one. And the one my parents bought me for graduation had all the bells and whistles. She was a beauty of of a sewing machine AND THE OLD FASHIONED SEWING TABLE THAT MY DAD REFURBISHED AND gave to me. My ex will burn in hell for what he did to me, but more for what he did to my children, whom he kidnapped and hid in another state when they were 5 and 12 yrs old. Taught them polygamy and kinky crap. Told them I was dead. He had $ control and took all our money, which wasn't much, but he retained a lawyer and I had nothing to get legal services with, not even the free legal could help me bc they were too backlogged. But ironing I do well, when I do it. Mom is perfect at it and a fine teacher of all women arts in and outside the home. We are very traditional, the way we believe it should be. Mom raises children, not strangers or "preschool" programs. Dads earn the $.

Wash it, hang it, or fold it - most don't need ironing. I have ironed in the past but don't need "business shirts" and using the above method noting else needs ironing-my opinion anyway :)

If you spread the clothes out neatly to dry and fold or hang them neatly in the cupboard, they come out fine enough for us!
