I'm 65 and I worked picking up trash off the interstates for 10 years, I've took my children when they were young, we'd go swimming in the country, if it was trashed we would clean it up, it's very important to keep the environment clean.look at people with a yard that's trashed and their house will probably look the same

Yes and yes! I am deeply concerned for the environment and everyone must do their part in keeping our planet clean. Trash cans are there for a reason and some have the audacity to throw their garbage on the ground and treat as if it were one big garbage can.

An industry believes they should never have to lift a hand or do anything of reasons as a necessity if it's nearby me possibility however department get enough to keep environments clean. If that a possibility all waste can be produced again and so can recycling turned into products therefore that requires your industry to get aboard companies to take because there are alot out there that will take to make products. Therefore if industry's are like that what are your department really doing with the money get to keep that environment clean.

I totally agree. Our community does this often as many throw garbage out car windows near the roads in the Country. We also have a team that does our community parks to make them both clean and safe for children to play. There are so many ways we can make a difference.

I pick up empty cans, single use water bottles etc because they can be redeemed for 10c each so I collect them and then cash them in. Bit of extra money for me and cleaner environment. Win win

We have an annual Clean Up Australia Day where volunteers go round and clean up river banks, beaches, etc. They collect tons of stuff every year and that is after the council does their clean ups every week albeit they do not do pick up of stuff thrown around usually. I think these people are wonderful. What really gets up my nose are all the dog walkers who just leave the dogs droppings everywhere and even it they happen to pick it up as people are watching they then throw the bag of stuff into the bushes or poke it into the sand or tree trunks, whatever suits them and there is usually a bin right there. People are lazy and think others are there to clean up after them I suppose.

It's not hard!!! If everyone did it every day, if possible, it would make a difference. My wonderful year 5 Granddaughter and her friends banded together and walked home from school each day with a bag to pick up some rubbish on their way, made me proud of all of them. They were old enough to be careful of what they gathered to be safe. They are looking after their world.

I agree. My pet peeve is trash, I hate it. My husband and I will pick up neighbors' trash if we see it. Our school had one day a year where we would all get bags and go around together and clean up the neighborhood Everyone can make a difference.

Absolutely! I've picked up trash all of my life, starting on the beach where I grew up. Mostly glass soda bottles for the refund with which I bought candy! The grossest thing I pick up now is what other's dogs leave behind, when I walk my dog. Let's all keep our planet clean! Going for a walk? I believe in collecting and disposing of all rubbish. The money put into stopping climate change should be put into cleaning up our planet. As the earth has been changing since the beginning, we can't stop it from happening and we should leave this planet as good as possible.

If I see any rubbish in my street or in front of the local shops I go to I always pick the rubbish up and put it in the bin I think some people are just lazy and through the rubbish down where ever they are it makes me cross when I see it in my front yard

If rubbish is not recycled than it is just garbage relocation. Even if it is recycled the recycling process leaves a carbon footprint. More has to be done at the manufacturing and packaging levels to really solve this problem. But good on you for trying . Edited 15-Oct-23 12:03pm

Yes I have picked up rubbish, especially when my kids were little. Mum wanted us to do ~Clean up Australia Day~ My Dad still goes and picks up rubbish to this day and he's 85. Before he got their dog he used to say to people he met a long the way you're picking up after your dog and I am picking up after the pigs. So true and I was really shocked about the graffiti around their area. No respect for any thing or any one else's property.

GOT NOTHING TO DO WITH POLLUTING THE ENVIRONMENT. IF IT DID, people would stop the wars and planes etc. but they dont. If you pick up after yourself at home, you pick up after yourself wherever you go.

If the aim is to keep the planet clean (that is free of all rubbish), then each person in the world would have to pick up several tonnes of rubbish every year. I can't see that happening.

Is this even a question? It's a no brainer...I've recycled since I was a child. I'm now 48 always have always will do. My family does the same. It's a privilege to walk on this earth we should treat it as such. Just my opinion
