Obey the "Be Covid Safe" Rules and, like we do with most other activities, just simply zoom it. Everyone can multi skill and safely sit on their bums within their own homes/borders and push the "on button" on their latest techno gadgets and watch with a peaceful mind and cheer to their hearts content. By Zoom I of course am meaning that our Super Star Athletes all strut the stuff within their own countries as well.

As a parent of a son who spent most his holidays in Canberra Institute of Sports, for his weight lifting since he was 13, I know what Olympic fever is about, But also I was also very worried when he had to travel all over Australia for his comps. and I also know his heartache when he had a knee injury that finished his career. Those days the fear I felt that something will happen while flying, Whereas this time is a fear that every parent will feel will be, if the kids will come home with a sickness that will finish the kids anyway. News is saying that Japan's numbers of cases are very high, So are they so Gold Hungry, that they are going to take the chance. I No Way, just look at what happened to the Australian Cricketers in India, Grow up Kids .

NO. Sport is not more important than people's health and wellbeing. It is not worth it to risk bringing COVID back to NZ. Sport is not an essential service and although I appreciate all the hard work athletes put in to prepare for the games, Sport is just not that important.

In my head I say no but in my heart I know how much the athletes have put into being ready to compete especially the Paralympians. For some it will be the one and only time they will compete. Whatever we think the bureaucrats will win. So I do have sympathy for the athletes in the circumstances.

Will everyone attending including the athletes get vaccinated before the event? Will there be enough COVID safety measures like medical personnel on standby with PPE? If the answer is yes, they will go ahead but it's going to be costly.

I personally could not care less about the Olympics but if it is held and when they come back to NZ after the games they pay for there isolation period themselves and not the government. But others would disagree because sports mean every thing to them and they are not looking at the bigger picture, but these are my own personal view

I am sure the athletes who have trained for years will be hoping it goes ahead but lets face it, it is just really not a great idea. We are not bringing Aussies home still and yet they want to be flown there and back. Japan is in the middle of a huge outbreak. WW2 cancelled the Olympics and I think it would be prudent to do the same with this one. In 2024 hopefully the world will be in control of this virus. I for one do not think it will be eradicated. Also not all athletes will attend so the the competition will be less. What's the point. I see Tennis is going ahead in many places and they seem to have that working well but with the Olympics people will be coming from every corner of the earth practically and into an environment that is not Covid safe. I personally think it will be massively expensive flop.

I've always said that this olympics, and all subsequent olympics, should be held four years from original dates. I.e. delay them for four years. That way there's a chance for the world to get on top of covid and then there's plenty of time for future cities hosting future olympic games to get the infrastructure in place.

If the International Olympic Committee want to have one, then they should PAY to set up a site dedicated to it and just hold it there forever, like a corporate headquarters. The athletes and their families will be devastated, but they are about the only ones. The Olympics are passe. They should be stopped. They mean nothing (except to the athletes) and are expensive. Creates money for the nation hosting. But once their expense is taken out, not really a money maker.
