Why do people lie?
Dianne W 79596223-Dec-22
I called a service department today at 9:30 and the man said he will found out and get back to me today. It is now 6:48 PM, and I am still waiting. Also, a friend told me something and 2 days later, I found out that it was a lie. WHY????

  • insecure people who dont want to deal with confrontation lie.

    • I think its because they don't really care and it doesn't matter to them that a lie might affect others.
      ·
      • Maybe the person in the service department got to busy .He just forgot to ring you back .Some people lie because they think that they have to to protect you ,or they are compulsive liers.I hate being lied too .Some people just need to grow up.

        • I'll go with the idea the person got to busy, so he forgot.
          ·
      • People commonly lie because they don't know the truth. Or they are afraid.
        ·
        • I think that often its not deliberate. People intend to call back or just cannot tell it like it really is or relate something with some twists that were not actual fact!
          ·
          • People lie because they want their pants on fire.

            • My daughter's boyfriend is a pathological liar. If he had a nose like Pinocchio it would reach to the next province (I live in Ontario).

              • We had the government's of the world-- lie about covid Vaccines. We were told they were going to stop the transmission of covid. We were told take them as they will help you and others. The australian POLITICIANS believed this lie and trusted big pharma. How corrupt that is!

                • Little white lie’s and big black lie’s!!! Little white lie’s are usually harmless, sometimes folks motive’s are to protect, or just to save the anguish, whereas big black lie’s are to cover up a terrible unjust, or that person/person’s are disturbed mentally, lying can also be part of an addiction or addictive personality. Truth set’s the soul free, also keep in mind, every thing is a need to know bases and sometimes it maybe wiser to say nothing!

                  • Kids aren't being brought up to be honest these days and thats the parents fault. It starts in childhood. Once... way back, kids were told not to lie, but things have changed and some, they grow up to be liars. It can be a bad habbit for some. Its even worse if you lie about someone without proof. There are many around like that! They aren't worth the time of day.

                    • because most people are immoral and have lost their faith in God

                      • My experience is because a lot of people think they know you - except they don't. Jealousy is a big cause too, as is fear. Also depends on circumstances - better to tell a little white lie than be honest to save feelings? Had one recently decided to do that but dragged it all out for so long that being open and honest earlier would have been less hurtful - and hateful in the end. Have also had some in the past where they actually were guilty of what they were accusing me of - a way of shifting blame so they don't get found out - but they always do in the end. Human nature.

                          ·
                          • Instead of asking us, you should ask your friend that, as to why he lied . There's many reasons why people lie and you should not need to ask why! Rewardia isnt a advice line.

                            • I think service people mean to get back with you. When doing service work time estimation is a real problem. Now as far as friends I have a big whopper of a story but it would take to long and not be properly appreciated but hey you can usually cut them out of your life.

                              • I think people lie because it might be easier than the truth. I work for a call center and am told everyday that I am a liar even though I do my job well and do what I can do personally.

                                • My friend told me that he had dinner with John and his wife Lisa, but I found out 2 days later that Lisa died 2 weeks prior to that dinner. The service department never called me back so I went some place else and they took care of me.

                                  • Cant you work out your own problems? Rewardia is not meant to be an advice service. If you had any guts you would ask your friend and not us

                                • Loads of different reasons....depends on the lie in question, the person lying and their particular circumstances. I have had people tell horrible lies about me. One person I should have been able to trust. I figured maybe they felt threatened by me. Funny thing is, they had no reason to. With the service guy, might he have just forgotten? I don't know. Sometimes I think the world's a pretty corrupt place. One person who accused me of lying once totally had the wrong end of the stick - my answer was true, but they didn't seem to get what I was saying. A complex answer to a complex question.

                                  • My thought on lying is to cover up on what they did or want probably will not happen in your case Dianne!

                                        • Regarding the service department, not sure you could clasify that as a lie more like poor customer service. A friend lying to you depending on how damaging that lie is cannot be a true friend. I can never understand liars. First they have to have a good memory and most slip up all the time anyway.

                                          • maybe get a different service department and better friends?...you would have to give me loads more details before I can really give a fair and sensible answer...sorry Dianne
