Snow for Christmas
Simba 100624313-Dec-24
Does having snow at Christmas make it more like Christmas for you, or does it really matter?
I am from the Caribbean and enjoyed the warmth at Christmas. I moved to Canada over 40 years ago, now I cannot see Christmases without snow. My children enjoy tobogganing which, in turn, I enjoy.
Hiking in the snow is also a lot of fun.
Do you enjoy Christmas with or without snow?

  • I grew up in the snow, well til 7 years old, escaped in the snow higher than I was. Used to love the boys dragging me in the sled up the hill then give a big push that sent me to the bottom! No panicking parents or other such creatures trying to stop our fun in case we broke a leg or arm!!

    • I have lived in Australia all of my life and have visited a few places overseas. Where I live, I am not able to have Christmas with snow. I enjoy Christmas without snow. I am certain if I lived somewhere that has snow at Christmas, I would definitely make the most of it.

        • Wintertime in Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island, WA, is unpredictable. Last year we had the most snow since I moved here in 2013! As long as I have plenty of canned food I don't mind eating cold (in case the power goes off), I'm fine if it snows. If it doesn't, That's fine, too. I get colder since I've grown older! ;-D

          • We spent one Christmas in Nashua NH, boy was it cold but little snow, so we went ice skating. There was snow but not as much as usual they said, but it was piled high in the street gutters which made it difficult to get my pram across the road. People thought I was odd taking my children out for a walk in below zero temperature. Even before I was baptized we didn't celebrate Christmas so the neighbours thought we were Jewish.

A little boy named Seth came to ask why we didn't have a Menorah in the window. Other neighbours brought us a small Christmas tree and another brought us cookies. We seemed to be the talk of the neighbourhood, and with a weird accent as well.

          • There are places in the world there is not going to be Snow like Australia and nations below the equator. Other places have ample plus snow like Alaska and Siberia and Antarctica. Children love snow, playing in it, building snowmen and forts and other games, Others love to go skiing or snowboarding and snowmobiling and even taking a sleigh ride. But snow can be treacherous, dangerous and can cause a lot of accidents even death and destruction. We do not celebrate Christmas it is a pagan holiday and has never been nor will ever be the birth date of Christ nor has it ever been about him. It is about celebration, parties, fun, erecting a tree which Jeremiah 10 says is idolatry and promoting a fat man in a red suit doing impossible things that are magical to kids and it perpetuates a lie We need snow packs in the mountains for water sources and for fire prevention's and getting to dry in summer months. But I can live without the ice, snow, and cold just fine. Not wanting snow is not good but having too much is also not good and we have to be aware how dangerous it can be and use caution in what we do and interaction with others to avoid accidents and hurt and more.

It would be awesome if it started to warm up here January 1st but of course it will not. It's the minus 30 to 40 and especially wind chill that is disgusting. Merry Christmas to all that celebrate this special holiday!

Not into snow (cold weather) - moved to Southern Sunny California over forty years ago. Furthermore, I am an atheist - not into Christmas or any Christian religious celebrations. FYI: The LAST TIME anyone in my family celebrate Christmas or any Christian religious celebrations - my ancestors were slaves in a supposedly a 'CHRISTIAN NATION'!!!

The Bible tells us we will be persecuted for our faith at Matthew 5:11; Matthew 10:23; Matthew 23:34; Luke 21:12; John 15:20; and Romans 12:14 reads, "Keep on blessing those who persecute, be blessing and do not be cursing." BLM has a God given right to his opinion, just as we have. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, I don't celebrate holidays either. Please, be kind. May God bless you and your family. ;-D
