Discussion of the Day
Climate change
darlenebbb31-May-24
Hi I would like to discuss climate change, I am really sorry for bringing up this topic, I realise everybody is sick of all the news about this problem, but if man does not get it together in this lifetime recycle, garbage in our oceans, littering, cutting down our beautiful forests just to built luxury homes, protect our waterways for our water fowl, just think about what we are leaving the next generation GOOD LUCK with that.

The Climate has been changing by the minute, by the hour, by the week, by the month, by the year for millions of years and will continue to do so.

I do not believe in climate change, only natural climate change. However, I do not believe anyone should be littering the earth, the moon, or anywhere.

Yeah we make the most pollution out of any known species. Not exactly a badge of honour. Do we need to change? YES. Can we stop climate change long term? I'm guessing probably not, because while atmospheric composition has a massive impact on our climate, it's not the only driver. We should do our best to control what we can though like overall reduction in pollution which would make the world more safer and comfortable - it's just better for everyone that way, including economics (which is spending a ton on trying to fix problems now). Would be good to be proactive.

Years ago I heard that factories that manufactured very, very long lasting machinery, not just the big ones used in factories but household washing machines, stoves etc etc etc, office equipment ie computers etc etc etc ... for these to be made in underdeveloped countries to give them employment, for meagre wages, cheap junk versions, some containing "Use by Dates" thus can't be repaired, only thrown on a junk heap and new replacement junks bought, thus the unrecycleable junk piles mount up!! Never mind the cows outputs being blamed for the hole in the sky!!! What does the "elephant in the room" the massive pollution from massive wars firing off goodness knows what damage is being done DELIBERATELY to Mother Earth both above and below the precious ground!!!

If you want to combat climate change, it requires a drastic change in personal behaviour ie consumption. There was a point in time where people bought things that lasted and were repaired rather than replaced. Modern society has placed an emphasis on cheap so people replace rather than replace or make do. Since things are so inexpensive, relatively speaking, we think nothing of discarding things we don't want or get tired of. All of this requires energy to produce, dispose of, ...modify or whatever. Until we decide to change consumer behaviour, regulations regarding climate change, carbon reduction, emissions....are window dressing. They may mitigate things a little but the underlying behaviour would still be there. Even when countries agreed to Oslo and the Paris Accords, climate risk was acknowledged, countries pledged various things, and, yet, things are getting worse. Prices got lower and consumption increased. Our pensions and investments are all tied to markets going higher. This ties into increased consumption. We need to change behaviours and expectations. Unfortunately, this is going to be far harder than setting regulations and making pledges.

Just one of many reasons I wish people would stop having kids. There's not a lot of good in the world and to have a child because they represent hope for the future is just stupidity. Yes, I've heard that argument.

Yes Darlenebbb has got it right. We hsve to do everything possible to get the climate back to where it was. We did not have weather the way it is now with so much rain, wind heat cold. Everything is up the whop. I remember when I was in the standard 1 and two classes at school we were told about how things were going to change the world. I struggled to see how and what our teacher meant. As I have got older I now see quite easily what she meant. I always have made sure to purchase the amount of food we could eat and not have wastage. Grown vegetables I know that our family would eat even with them being adults as well now I still do the same. There is never any bread go to waste. I was able to buy cloth napkins for my children where after that the mothers had a choice of disposable napkins paper wipes, and everything disposable. The people dealing with the water for each area used to say how blocked the areas got with all the disposable items. I have never owned a dishwasher and just put water as much as needed in the sink to wash the size of the dishes to be washed. Did washing day about once a week when I could fill the washing machine to get a full load Then there was all the plastic. Taking home made bags for fruit and items did cut down on some of the plastic. Growing trees around farm area and keeping stock out of the waterways has helped. Changing the way the grass grew from different farming of it. Feeding stock and farming was a big cause towards depleting the condition to go up in putting the climate change higher. One thing I do wonder is, I love watching sport and the flames start spurting in jubilation of the home teams win. I always think to myself if the flames add to the polution as well as November 05 and New Years eve are all no nos because of the damage polluting our air.

Most of us are trying but what is the pont when idiots are sending rockets into space looking for another plant to ruin - how much damage do they do then we have politicians and rich people flying everywhere, what is wrong with countries leaders speaking over the computer instead of flying off endlessly to indulge themselves. Plus I have been saying for years we should be building nucleur power stations instead of exportring uranium, no we just continue to ruin the landscape with ugly windfarms which will cause pollution when they reach their use by date.

climate change is caused by God, I don't feed into what is being said. However, people need to quit littering, both air, ground, and water, and huge fines should hit them if they are caught.

Climate change has little to do with pollution. Climate change is a natural phenomenon and all the rubbish trying to change the weather is causing more pollution. The idiot politicians whose ideology sees nothing but solar panels and windmills covering the country is prepared to use airable farming land and cut down forests for so called renewable energy. Twiggy Forrest is prepared to use our valuable drinking water to make hydrogen, something that hasn't worked so far. Coal fired power stations last for decades while nuclear power stations last for up to 100 years but solar panels and windmills might well last 10 years, and what do we do with them then? The first solar panels are just starting to make their way to the local tips and so far the cost of dumping them is $25 per panel, but what happens when they begin arriving by the thousands? Then there are electric cars. The batteries only last 8 to 10 years but if they are involved in an accident they are replaced because they can be dangerous. What about the house fires caused by E-bikes and scooters? There is at least 1 a week with insurance companies wanting to exclude fires caused by them from policy's but so far the government is refusing the request. Insurnace companies won't wear the claims forever though as their investors enjoy a return on their investment. No-one ever mentions the rare earth minerals needed for batteries etc., they need far more of them than coal or iron ore so we can expect some very large holes. Renewables spells POLLUTION and so far we have no way of dealing with it.

Far too much greed to allow anything for the next generation, Hardly any forest left for Native animals, no houses yet thousands of immigrants are let in, where do they live?? Houses that were for Australians and their kids. Many were convicts in their own country but that doesn't matter does it? Many Australian animals rare or have dissapeared completely, Can't survive on a concrete jungle. poison weeds so birds can take to their nest poison to feed their young, poison left for the fox which magpies love also. Many magpies die through that including other Natives also. If Bio Diversity is interfered with any more Our kids have nothing and nor do we. Do not use poisons it is carried into our waterways to the fish. So what do we wish to leave the next generation?? not much left is there .Many will think this is an outrageous comment but think and look at the destruction we have done, continuing to do without a care, Refuse plastic, it is a killer, even found in sea salt and that goes on our food. stand up for our country, our wildlife and flora. Big changes are absolutely necessary to give us a chance to leave a liveable Earth for the next generation. It’s as simple as that.

Climate Change is real and is a massive problem largely caused by humans. We have a lot to blame those still much-lauded, hypocrites like Victoria, politicians, manufacturers, Slave owners who were around and started the Industrial revolution which made so many people extraordinarily wealthy and left even more living in abject filth and poverty.. The biggest problem today is that all of our politicians, around the world, love to chatter endlessly about the issue but when it comes to making the necessary and very hard decisions not one of them has the guts, or rather wish, to make those decisions. Without exception, no matter how "green' they make cast themselves as being, they have but one or two interests. Number 1: Themselves. Number 2: The Political Party they belong to. They all know that if they actually did act there would be a Political Backlash from very noisy minority groups and as we all know when it comes to loud noises which might affect the votes and subsequent Power they so crave the politicians go to water and do nothing. Governments, including Australia's Federal and the 8 State & Territory ones, squander untold billions on Space Programs, Weapons of Mass Destruction, Nuclear Submarines, Warships, Bombers etc. al,of which have to be trialled so these same chattering politicians are happy to pump untold billions of tonnes of Pollutants, harmful gases into the Air, Land, Seas, Rivers and for what? For No Good Reasons. We could fix the problems Right Now but the Political Will is simply does Not Exist.

Fossil fuels – coal, oil and gas – are by far the largest contributor to global climate change, accounting for over 75 per cent of global greenhouse gas emissions and nearly 90 per cent of all carbon dioxide emissions. Wind, solar and electricity count for a total of 1 per cent. The answer is pretty clear to me what we should be focusing on.

If he wins this election, we will be under his stupid dictatorship, and he will not give up until he's dead. If he loses, all hell will break loose. Why do people support him? For the same reason, they are denying climate change and agreeing with him that windmills are killing the whales. I have yet to figure his reasoning out on that one. We need to get down off of our pedestal and realize that animals are much smarter and closer to understanding the world than we are! Animals don't kill their own species or ruin their homeland which destroys their environment leading to ill health, death, and eventually extinction! With that said, we need to focus on the big picture and let go of the little things in life that don't matter in the least!

I was just writing about this stuff in the envirinmental group. Now it is here? is this a coincidence? Well here goes. Yes burning fossil fuels is bad. Population is the worst of everything. I wrote in 1999 that the best thing someone could do is never have more than 2 children. that was in a little unpublished book I wrote. So if climate change is designed by the elite, to get more control over society, then forshore a lot of the things we see and hear are only their to fool us into believing what they want us to know. not what is really happening. a lot of climate change info goes the way the oil companies want it to go, not the truth. Money is fake, but they will do what ever they must to keep us into believing it is real. As long as we use petrol the plastic has to go somewhere.

I am not suggesting things haven’t been put in place and changes haven’t been made. However the countries who are trying to make a difference, are a small percentage of the problem. Unless we can get the countries on board who are the worst polluters, then I don’t see much progress moving forward.

Water levels rising, nope, look at the Statue of Liberty, water level is the same as 40 years ago. Al Gore stated polar bears would be extinct by 2012 because of climate change, nope, still lots of them here. More forest fires, nope. The media presents it like there is but data does not support this. We used to do things to prevent more fires, like control burns in dangerous sections, we no longer do that. Fires on Vancouver Island last year were all intentionally set by climate activists and are being charged and in court, of course this isn’t mentioned on the CBC news, that isn’t the narrative they want to present. How about we pay more tax and that will change the weather, nope, the carbon tax keeps going up, our carbon output keeps increasing. But Prime Minister Blackface will present it otherwise. Life here is becoming unaffordable because of the carbon tax, but it hasn’t had a positive impact on carbon emissions. There are 3 rivers in the world that contribute 95% of the pollution in the world’s oceans. Main stream media will not report that. Too many lies and no change in behaviour using factual data. Weak leaders create more harm than strong ones. The USA and Canada have the weakest leadership in their history and the things happening in our societies are representative of that.

Strange thing is back in the 70's our weather records showed the climate had changed instead of getting 2 to 3 inches of rain a year we were getting it in one drop and then dry for the rest of the year if not longer. We had to change the way we ran the sheep and then to add insult to injury a coal mine opened up a couple of hundred k away and the water table dropped 20 metres so we had to get all the bores redrilled and made deeper. Only a complete blithering idiot or Politician would believe that nothing has changed and bury their heads in the sand hoping it would go away. Not easy when you see 3 foot of water over the land for a month and then nothing for a decade. Only good thing is it helped to drown the Politicians as they were not smart enough to get their heads above water when the rain came.

Even if the climate change crisis is a hoax (like the geniuses in MAGA say) we are still destroying the planet with our garbage and crap. Once the air is polluted past the point of being breathable and the water is so bad it cannot support any life at all, then all will be lost. There will be no 'next generation' to leave anything to. My honest opinion is it is Mother Nature telling us to get our acts together, stop reproducing as the world is being over populated. Stop making things out of plastic that gets thrown away every 5 seconds. We don't vape never have, never will and what stupid persons can up with that idea? All good intensions I know but they put them out there for every body and that says failure right from the start. How about coming up with a solution not some thing that is only going to add to the issue. Now add batteries into the mix on top of the plastic and what hope do we have? Another thing I am sick of hearing about is mining and how QLD benefits from the royalties. Well I would like to know where and we aren't all benefitting from the taxes. We are an embarrassing state. If you don't live in a city you are basically screwed. The governments don't give a rats about rural people. They never have so we just have to battle a long as best we can. Get no Thanks for being resourceful. You with your question are implying we actually care about the next generations, do we now? I ask why should we? No one thought about us, other generations before us. Generations before us that had to go off to fight a war. Not just a small war, World Wars. We never learn even from past mistakes. There are still people to this day who want wars. Why because they get rich from it.One way of helping the population I guess but how sad is that. We have to go back and sacrifice human lives for our freedom. I seriously wonder what the point of life is if we continue down these paths. People need to know they can't have every thing they want in life without some sort of sacrifices. I am wondering when will compulsory conscription will come to Australia now that the UK are going to introduce it. To control youth, are they going to blame us for their behaviour too? You made me do it....

WW3 is looking pretty likely. Our blood is littered with plastic. It was over 50C in India a couple days ago. Places to live are becoming less and less affordable. Lobby groups set agendas. There's no escaping the predictable madness of society. We are locked into this trash. The snowball is rolling. The egos are too big and people believe whatever they want to. During an extinction level event humanity will still be arguing like they are encouraged to. People are selfish and easily misled regardless of the bs they tell themselves.

There are SO many hazardous particulates being sprayed in the sky daily that there isn't one breathe that you and I are inhaling that doesn't contain some chemical compound. These components cause more electrification within the stratosphere and it changes the amount of cloud cover forming, leading either to more or less rain and where that rain will eventually fall. But nobody wants to talk about the sun, that huge ball in the daytime skies, and how solar cycles impact weather across the planet. It just ISN'T possible for massive climatic shifts to occur just because we use petrol and diesel products! But I agree that we are poor stewards of the many blessings this earth has provided us with! Thanks for reading.

I believe climate change is influenced by global warming (yes they are different) which is caused by earth's orbit bringing it closer to the sun. India has just had 50 degree celcius plus days and it is likely to get worse. This global warming will last hundreds of years then earth will head into an ice age, that's just how the world's history goes. Nature is fighting back with weather and epidemics as humans have violated nature for far too long. We are being culled!

Consequences of actions!!! We could see catastrophic climate changes! They have just found a way of taxing us to the hilt. They have said for the past 50 years that 'in 10 years the climate would be devasting'. It's been 50 years and what's changed. The climate has changed ever since the world began and it will go on changing no matter what we do or how much they tax us. They are damaging the planet with their wind turbines that only last about 20 years and solar panels that last about the same time. Most people have forgotten their high school lessons. The atmosphere contains .04% Carbon dioxide which is essential to photosynthesis, the very beginning of our food chain and we could do with a bit more of it. The baddies are the pollutants, monoxide and soot particles. I am an avid recycler.

I suppose it was not recorded or noticed as much because of so many less people on the planet. well less than 2 billion then. Climate change as we know it was designed sometime in the 18 hundreds to fool people so they could trick everyone so they could make more money. In those times they had no idea the populations wher going to explode as much as they have though. these elite knew it would happen again.
