Discussion of the Day ยท 23-Jul-26
Why do some of us crave validation for everything we do?
Some of us need to be thanked for the things we do for others. It doesn't seem to be enough to just do whatever it is and leave it at that.
When I come across someone like this it suggests to me that whatever nice thing they did, or said, was not an entirely altruistic or genuine gesture in the first place. There's an agenda behind it.
It's all about them. Make them feel good. Tell them what a good person they are. Tell them they are kind. Pat them on the back.
Because if you don't, they will find a way to do it themselves.
They will create a situation or a dialogue where they can manipulate someone into validating them, into being their cheerleader, their supporter, their champion, and unfortunately it's usually done at the expense of someone else who is perceived to be their nemesis.
If just doing something nice for someone is not enough for you, then you are NOT the "kind" person you claim to be.
Many of you may disagree with me.
Let me know if you think I'm wrong.
