Yesterday in France, a massive supermarket chain was HACKED. What the hackers did was just turn off all the refrigeration in all their stores and turn all the lights on. Thousands of dollars of food were destroyed as a consequence... and the power bills would be slightly higher.
While this is terrible, we all know that hacking is carried out over the internet. SO, if you are not even open, why are you connected to the internet in the first place?
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY... why does a supermarket need to use the internet to turn fridges and freezers on or off, or turn the lights on or off? Why can't the staff in the store do that stuff? It's not rocket science... what do you think? Am I missing something?
