Your phobias??

Share what phobias do you have?
Here is the list of mine:
- Catoptrophobia / Eisoptrophobia - Fear of mirrors (Partially; only sometimes; I feel anxious to look at the mirrors in the dark to see someone there except me)
- Cleithrophobia or Cleisiophobia- Fear of being locked in an enclosed place. (For me that's being in very narrow and small places that thinking about it makes me feel lack of air and I start panicking)
- Pediophobia- Fear of dolls.
- Scopophobia or Scoptophobia- Fear of being seen or stared at.
(But for me when I was a child, that's only when I was going to bed, all dolls should be turned the other way, not looking at me, the fear of their look, I felt and feel very uncomfortable when they "watched" how I was sleeping. And that's only for those dolls which look more human like.)

    this is still embarrassing and i can't tell most people i know as they don't understand but my whole life since a child i have had a fear of throwing up and of others throwing up too. i was amazed when as an adult i read about others that had it too- emetephobia. I don't fly or take public transport or go on car trips driven by others in case i get car sick- or others do. and i wanted to be a nurse but realized that was out when as a young nurse aid an elderly resident said she felt sick and i bolted from her room and went to get someone else to help her. So ridiculous really.

                  where do I start? I get claustrophobic when I go to the Jenolan Caves and can't walk through the real narrow caves, or even crawling under a bed when my kids were young, to get a toy they may have lost. I also get Vertigo pretty badly so heights are out for me too, and then there is the usual spiders and snakes...

                      I know exactly what you mean Linda, I don't even have to be a passenger and while I am the driver I always try to pass trucks very quickly in fear they might come into my lane.

                          My 2 phobias are going down an escalator especially when it is very high, and walking over bridges ,when i took my son to school, i went to go over the bridge with the cars underneath, i just froze as i couldn't do it.

                            My phobia, and do not ask me what its scientific name will be, I am scared of turkeys, roosters, geese, and snakes, was 6 when I was attacked by turkeys when I was collecting eggs, at my Uncle's farm, and snakes well when you go camping, and wake up in the morning to find you had a sleeping partner taller/longer than me Well I leave it up to yous tofigure what happened

                              My worse two phobias : spiders (predominantly Huntsmans & largeish black spiders). Heights : If ascending a ladder, (housework purposes), I am terrified descending; really, the most awkward you person you ever saw coming down (arms & legs most uncoordinated) Lol!

                                    haven't got any phobias, well, Cyndi is a bit 'timid' in the dark, soesn't worry me but then I have difficulty in seeing any difference

                                      A while ago, I watched a creepy movie about dolls that have real human hair. So, I understand your fear. I'm terrified of spiders, bats and flying cockroaches.

                                          Trypanophobia - Fear of medical procedures involving injections or needles. Sadly a full on phobia and not just a fear, has caused many issues over the years. And also have a pretty big fear of birds, wouldn't class it as a phobia though. I can handle: reptiles, rodents, insects etc but birds freak me out! Give me a snake any day lol.

                                                  I don’t have any phobias but hate cockroaches I once woke up & felt this cold thing thing on my leg it was biggest cockroach I have ever seen,I hate them but not terrified

                                                    I don't like some things and situations but they are not Phobia. I don't need to cure. Recent one is everything about Covid 19.

                                                      Good forms of sensitization help meant that I was able to reduce fear of heights to a prudent safety level. from that i leant that one can be in control of the way we think and as a result on what we actually feel.

                                                                You have probably heard about our new alert level moves through the media Lynette?..We are doing ok thanks as we are on level 2 for 3 days so less restrictive but still a bit of a worry considering this is the UK variant which according to the govt is more deadlier.I have a feeling it will be longer then 3 days and we could also move up levels,I really hope not because businesses won't survive another tight lockdown.Hope you are doing well over there :)...take care also.

                                                                Yes I have heard about it Annette. We were in lockdown about a week ago in WA due to the fact of man having the UK version of this. It was a 5 day lockdown and most people followed the rules and we are now allowed to do most things.. Hope it works out the same for you and am thinking you all over there in New Zealand.

                                                                same. I love being in the air (in a plane!), but get really queasy at take-off and landing - go figure! If I did have a true phobia, it would be standing on a above ground surface, where I could see the ground beneath - esp the large gap in between.

                                                                            I fear heights. Interestingly I don't get any vertigo associated with being near heights, just the fear. I also have fear when all exits to the space I am in are blocked, but it's not associated with claustrophobia.

                                                                              Phobia can overcome many ways. As you find ring person to help you. My husband has help with phobia of buying things i don't needed. I most gave away that stop my phobia of being poor.

                                                                                      Don't like heights. Don't mind climbing it's just coming down again or even looking up, get a bit giddy, even walking next to tall people and tall buildings. As a child used to climb trees then yell for my grandmother to come and get me down!

                                                                                                            Interesting - I learned that Pediophobia is a REAL phobia. I have dealt with females who have Pediophobia - they made jokes about their phobia (actual their jokes were VERY FUNNY) - therefore, I never took their concerns - SERIOUS - I will TAKE their concerns - SERIOUS - NOW! Fear of becoming a statistic and a fear of elevators (got stuck on a elevator when I was kid - thought it was going to crash - hence, I ALWAYS reside in apartment buildings that do not have elevators - just stairways). I reside in the most RACIST country on the planet (USA). Very conscious of my surroundings (at all times) - do not want to run into a Caucasian, Asian, or Hispanic police officer (female or male) having HORRIBLE day and take it - out on me (in the USA - it is call "shot while resisting arrest - till the videos START appearing online of a police shooting - then its a different story) - have "NO" desire to became a STATISTIC!

                                                                                                              Grow up too fast - and I am paying for it! Still. every morning when I wake up since I retired over 22 years ago. I still remind myself: Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That why it is called the present. I still live a hedonistic lifestyle and when I was traveling (before the pandemic) - I was trying to outrun my past (knowing that nobody outruns their past)! Yet, as I get older my philosophy on coping with life changes: Now, I am trying to incorporate into my thought process: Life is VERY SPECIAL. Live and savor every moment. Because life (unfortunate) is not an address rehearsal!
