You create a very different break from what you are used to...the weirder the better....your life REALLY slows down...something that takes six days feels like two months....and deep sleep allows you to have several hours of adventure in as little as 10 minutes..it is all relative

It sure is, no sooner is Monday and it's back to Sunday, my friends say because I am always busy, and don't take a break, but I think these last 2 years scrambled everyone's thinking, I have 3 calendars cause if I don't cross the day off, I will never know what day it is, plus I have a white board cupboard and its full of appointments due, and all sorts, some times I think I am loosing the plot

In my case, it's not that I'm trying to do too much in a short period of time. I live alone and have anxiety and depression. I have very little to do other than watch TV and play video games. Someone comes in twice a week to clean, run errand and get my groceries. Still, I can't believe how quickly the weeks, months and years fly by! Even kids say that, and when I was a kid time crawled by. Maybe it's evolution!

Agree here I’m blaming it on the COVID lol And the grandchildren, before I know it ….my darlings are a year older. At least Xmas did not creep up, I was mega organised like I like to be

We all try to pack too much into our God given time - that naturally gives the impression time is going faster. Moral - Slow Down a little.

it is our perception of time that changes. you feel time is "flying by" as you get older. go back to your early years, ie about 6 to 10 years of age. your birthday, christmas, school holidays, easter, they all seemed to take forever to get there. it is all your age perception. ask a person in a convalescent home who lay in bed all day, bet their time goes very slowly

No time is always the same .We are trying to cram in more per day. Also age is a factor ,subconciously we are aware our time on earth is limited & we try to cram more into our days .Slow down & enjoy life

Joe B. What do you do for your migraines. My mum suffered from them and usually ended up a trip to the hospital for a needle to let her sleep it off. She was told to get someone/ dad to rub very hot sports rub on both sides of the neck and the carotid vein. That opened up to let more blood into the brain and instant relief so give it a go.

I guess it depends what you are doing. If your working, juggling kids, house work, looking after a loved one etc then yes I do believe so. In 2012 my husband and I did a trip around Australia and we stayed in different places constantly so it was fun and exciting and the time seem to go quite quick for us. We are now doing an extension on our house and if we are busy time comes fast but if we are waiting for materials or not doing any thing it is slow. Once this is all finished I think time will slow down again for us hopefully enough for us to enjoy all the hard work we have done here even if it really is never ending.

Yes, Time is speeding up - clocks need to me adjusted by hundredths of a second every year in order to remain accurate! - and of course APB (below) has "nailed it" from the other, less scientific angle!

When you are five...a day is a very big chunk of your life......when you are 65, a day is whole lot smaller!....time is relative...among other things...

It is your perception as a child a week is an eternity and as you grow up and take on more responsibility there isn't enough time in a day to do what you need to so when you are running around like a chook with it's head cut off and no time to sit back and look at the sky you think that time is moving faster when it is just you always running around with no time to look around at the flowers so you Perceive that Time is moving faster.

it seems to as we get older. I have had a very busy full life with 8 now adult kids and a widow. The more you do, the longer it seems when you look back over it. The best thing is to try and have a good life, so when you are older you can look back and enjoy it or relive it through memories. So, time may speed up, but the more you do, the longer it seems. To me, thats how it is.

i dont think its actually speeding up but the world we live in is for sure,look at a big news story,it used to make headlines for a week or so,now its lucky to be 48 hours before you are bombarded with another big story,we are all having to be somewhere 3 hours ago,continuosly rushing around,no time to just say f##k it,lay on the lawn and look at the clouds or the stars

It's a relative thing, time obviously doesn't speed up but as you get older it appears to go faster. This is because of the relationship between time passing and your age. For example. At 10 years of age, one year is one tenth as long as you have lived, at 60 years of age one year is one 60th of the time that you have lived, and thus, from your perspective one year would seem to pass much more quickly if you were 60 than it would if you were 10...

Yes, I must be in the same age bucket as you and yours. Hoping not to fall out of it and kick it! Trying to stretch the time rather than speed it up like we did in our youth and am sure the youth of today are doing the same thing ... and so the cycle keeps going on.

I know just what you mean, I've been noticing it for quite a few years now! What worries me is when I hear children say that time is passing quickly - this should not be happening and the only reason I can think of for why it is is that we are cramming too many "activities" into their lives. I have recently been told that my 7 yr old great nephew will be doing four extra-curricular (after school) activities every week next year!

Covid constants tend to also skew one’s perception of time.

when you are young, everything is new to you, you are learning all the time. Big days, by 7pm you are tired from a "so busy" day. As you grow older most stuff is "seen before" so the days seem shorter.... make sense?

My unscientific (and unsound) theory is our perception of time changes as we age......we have fewer new experiences ....the older we get....and the more of the world we have seen, the more we become passe - we value time less........ time speeds up (relatively speaking) and we develop tunnel vision (relatively speaking). I have notice - with myself - the older I get - the more I find life - BORING (and I lose track of time) ..... then again the pandemic might be affecting my psyche ................ :-)Edited 04-Dec-21 18:57pm

Totally agree and I get less and less done these days. I can hardly believe what I used to do when the kids were young. Work, shop, housework, sports, spending time with the kids etc. but now I barely get anything done. Yep, Monday goes by and next thing it is Monday again.
