The Future of Watching Sport on TV?
APB01-Sep-22
Wanted to watch the Grand final of the women's European soccer cup 2022...not available on TV...even the goals not available on the various news services went to YouTube...some young guy took me along to Wembley...along with his two mates...up into the stands to really experience being there...and filmed all the best bits and the crowds around him...it was about the best TV coverage of a soccer match... I felt like I had really been there...that is all I wanted

Bit gory but me n hubby love watching MMA- would love to be able to take him to Vegas or fight island in Dubai but have to stick with TV and YouTube. Would love to go to a Rugby game love like the Bledisloe cup- tho maybe not this year..er sorry AB.s! My best memory of a rugby game was watching a World cup final at the local pub on big screen with our friends, great atmosphere and we won too so big buzz.

As a child, we didn’t have tv, listened to the soccer matches on radio with my dad. The commentator was so good, that when we had the tv, while watching the game we still listened to the radio commentator! Double pleasure! It’s very sad that now you cannot watch the European soccer cup on tv. I didn’t know that. Great that this young guy filmed it and put it on YouTube!!!

Isn't TV the medium that lets us watch You Tube? I'm an oldie and struggling to keep up with what's available or how to get to it, thanks!

it used to be called 'a level playing field'' but what it actual.ly is bloody big international organisations spend a little to acquire exclusive rights and then everyone's got to pay through the nose, thank god we've still got the ABC and SBS in Australia

We watch the NRL and we only watch the games we want as our team we barrack for is hardly ever on but that is a good thing for them as they seem to play better, go figure that one out because we are still trying too. They even won the grand final only been waiting 70 years and the youngster don't understand that. I wish we could pick who we saw on tv because we would see all the other teams play any way. Maybe one day but I certainly wouldn't pay to watch the team because as soon as that happened they would loose constantly. We love our footy but and we are looking forward to the grand finals.

I used to watch rugby league on TV but it's become more like rugby "how hard can they hit the opponents and sneaky punches etc. So I only watch it now and again but it is only getting rougher with every year that passes.

TV is outdated just like the print media. I have lived on a global time clock for years. When I want to relax and watch a little TV all there is is SPORT and infomercials. Not everyone likes sport, all day and night!!

I gave up watching tv when it became a never-ending feast (?) of reality shows. The styling of news readers as "journalists" also annoyed me (on behalf of real journalists) and turning them into celebrities was the last straw! I get my news via stuff, so I can pick & choose those articles I'm interested in. Most televised sport appears to be sponsored and is only permitted to be aired on the sponsor's network. It makes me laugh to see the TV networks trying so hard to aim their programming toward the "up to 35 year bracket" when that group don't even watch TV anymore!!

When I had first had Foxtel, its tennis coverage was excellent but when it was in serious decline (about 6 years ago) I got rid of that service and only watched events on free to air and now free to air is even more awful than they used to be. In spite of all these channels, they only show it on one channel and then they say for everything else, go to Stan Sport. At least when channel 7 was showing Aussie Open, they ran it on two channels and SBS had the French Open and that was good. Why can't they just let us choose which court we watch, when the court is covered by a camera? The technology to do so has been around forever bur in Australia, we are never given this luxury. The other annoying thing about free to air is "to continue watching, change to channel x" because they are running news or some other rubbish. Why not leave the LIVE event where it is, and put the OTHER program on the other channel?
