Over the last few years I have been growing my own vegetables and raising chickens in order to become more self-sufficient and limiting processed foods I consume. Not only do I enjoy the choosing of vegetables, growing the seeds and canning or freezing the finished product. But also the proud of producing enough vegetables to feed my family for 1 year in less than 5 months and saving money.

I was wondering if anyone is gardening because of high cost of foods in supermarkets or because of other benefits of growing your own?
