The main difference is you cannot have one without the other. Kindness simply proceeds in Gratitude, they both go hand in hand. How do you practice Kindness and Gratitude? Notice good things, look for them, and appreciate them. Always express gratitude, write it down or thank someone.
Bugalugs
In an ideal world Kindness would always be followed by Gratitude. In today's "ME First. Last and Always" world, Kindness is not always followed by even an acknowledgement - a simple "Thank You" is enough. If you are a Male, try opening a door, or standing aside to let heavily laden woman in/out and the best you might get is a snarl or verbally abused for being condescending!

I hope people are paying attention the survey rewards and NOT doing ones that offer ridiculous rewards for the time spent. This just encourages poor rewards for everybody. I have posted before that the general rule to see if the reward is at least fair is it shoukd equate to around $6 per hour. Of course there are better sites out there that pay more but that is a good starting point. Doing surveys for trivial amounts like the 2 green ones presently listed, one 10 mins for...

Yesterday's 30 point bonus for playing Drop and Merge was a rip off. I'm 71 and need a hip replacement, but even I don't have over three hours to spend trying to get an extra 30 points. At one stage I gained 1168 points ( not that far off the leader board and it gave me 2 points! This is just plain ridiculous and I have written and told them so - especially as I stuck it out until I had 31 points and they didn't credit me with the bonus today! First time I've commented on here but that is just plain ridiculous. Like recently when they offered 300 points if you gained 1000 points on Blue surveys in a 36m hour period and there were NONE.

The Australian Capital Territory has announced that petrol cars will not be sold there after 2035. Isn't that a huge overreach? For one thing the price is prohibitive, then what about the infrastructure for charging. I'm not sure, I want an electric car, hybrid perhaps, but fully electric? Along with the power problems we are currently experiencing, will there be enough power for everyone to charge their electric car? While I have my own garage with a...

Has modern society destroyed relationships between men and women irreparably? The growth of radical men's groups encouraging men to give women a wide berth are gaining popularity in this time of political correctness while in Japan, men and women are choosing the single life in growing numbers. What do you think is the solution?
Pearlz
It's all about selfishness. It's all about me, me, me and not us. I have watched as people care far more about themselves now and their feelings. How else do you explain so many relationship breakdowns? People have no respect for one another, or integrity, honesty, manners or loyalty. I met my husband when I was 16 and at 18 needed my parents permission to marry him. When we tell people we have been married for almost 55 years instead of congratulating us people make jokes such as you don't get that long for murder. Shouldn't a marriage that has lasted that long be valued or even admired instead of denigration?

People seem to want the top range of everything today. A lot are not prepared to wait until they can afford non-essential items so they buy them on credit, many can't pay it off by the due date and get themselves even further in debt.

With the shortages of staff in hospitals, wouldn't it be a good idea to bring back some of the matrons that did hands-on training in hospitals. As I remember, we had some really great nurses trained in this way. Instead of sending them off to University, they could be trained in the same manner as apprentices. It could help fill the hole that we have now, with shortages all over Australia.
Pearlz
The problem is that nurses are sent to university then into hospitals. In the old days you started emptying bed pans before you decided whether or not it was the profession for you. Now they are sent to university then have to empty bedpans. Wouldn't it be a bit of a shock after years of schooling? Why would anyone spend years studying then perform back breaking work, changing dressings, wiping bums and the like when they could be earning much more in the corporate world. Starting at the bottom then studying your way to the top is always the best way to fill the ranks.

Now watching the news and seeing our future youth generations rob the jewellery stores and do Ram raids into the liquor stores was like a movie of BOYS DAD 2 The reason why he went to jail.. and I was wondering what are your thoughts about this situation and how can we help our future youth generations change for the better and instead of giving up hope that the only answer is to lock them up or giving them jail bracelets ... As the heading says, Should Optus be allowed to continue operating after the major hack and release of their customer's private details? Keep in mind that if the government was to force them to cease operations then Optus would just start trading under a different business name then their new customers would not be aware of the risk hey would be taking. Also keep in mind that for many years Optus has also been trading under the name of DODO

Driving into the hills one day the forecast was rain, as I got to the top of the road I was on and turning left I saw in a paddock a herd of goat, what struck me as odd was that every goat about 25 all stood facing the same direction and not moving, it's not the first time I've seen this. Couldn't help think that the devil's pet is a goat, or was it just something like the forecast for rain?

I've planned a surprise party for her 50th birthday, and it went down well with 50 people attending, and it was at several places - and the big one was where I arranged for a friend she hasn't seen for 25 years, and she was surprised. Let's say it was you planning a surprise party for a friend, family member etc. what kind of party would you plan and what kind of food would you have? I am very keen to hear some ideas and views on this?

I have planned a surprise party for my husband's 40th, never in my life attempted to do such a thing, so one day the thought came to my head and I spoke to my mother-in-law and she supported me in my decision, I choose a restaurant in Moonee Ponds. Just had mainly family and a few of my hubbies friends. it was a nice group of about 30 people. I had organized the date/time venue menu /birthday cake . All I told my husband was that on the day we were going out for dinner for his birthday although I didn't want him to see where we were going, I got him into the car. Blindfolded him and held on to his hand and guided him while walking, when I got him inside the venue all the family gathered ready to greet him once i took the blindfold off him he got the biggest and most unexpected shock of his life. My husband could not believe how I could keep such a secret, because I am one who gets exciteded .

Does anyone know if it is safe to compost those brown corrugated cardboard boxes that come with online shopping? I have lots of boxes that I would prefer to compost rather than chuck in kerbside recycling for collection. Food costs, housing, every day living rising. Will society collapse? Can we make it through without government intervention (if any)? Of course, certain people and corporations are making a mint, but what about every day people? How are you managing, and what are you doing to combat increases? Yes, a lot of questions, but they are interconnected.

Psalm 37:29. Don't believe me? Believe what the Bible says in Psalm Chapter 37! Then, read Isaiah 65:17-25 to see how it will be living on a paradise earth, forever, as God intended it to be! As parents get older & children grow into adults we generally expect them to become independent & this reduces the load on parents. However, when children have disabilities which affecting their ability to become & remain independent, the expectation and reality of parent's lives can be that they are caring for offspring into adulthood. Recently we are researching a move to a country area from the city, and I was angry at the high cost of going through this transition. It is like a minefield. Stamp duty, capital gains, agent's fees, removalist costs, legal fees etc are far too high. To make this move, why are we going to lose over a $100,000 of our hard-earned money. In a time of housing shortage in cities, why isn't this process a lot easier and cheaper? Any thoughts from your experiences?
Christine M 323842
To buy another house you are entering into the very same problem that the rest of Australia is facing- its expensive
All those costs unfortunately either come with the cost of real estate purchase , and the income generated by the increase in value upon sale. Or just with moving home, it’s too much, I agree.
At least you are not facing homelessness like many of us who don’t own a home.

What do you think of the forthcoming increase in pension payments ? Can you survive on a pension? The pending increase in pension payments is just over $ 38 a fortnight, BUT my rent alone has increased by $ 40 a fortnight recently. Add to that rent increase, the much higher costs of electricity, gas, water, groceries, and other things, how are pensioners supposed to survive?

It's like everything else in nature, it changes. Some years we have lots of snow or frosty mornings. Some years we have lots of rain. Years of droughts and years of floods. Look back at history and you'll see Egypt had droughts then floods. It's just a natural cycle. However, when it comes to damage that is purely due to population. We have always had hail storms. I have photo's of me as a child holding huge hail stones, but back then there wasn't much damage. About 6 years ago a hail storm went through and our house fared pretty well but a new suburb that had just popped up and had 4 houses per quarter acre instead of 1 copped it badly. All you could see was blue tarps over roofs, and they were there for months with not enough tradesman and insurance companies trying to assess the damage. The storm was no worse than usual but there were far more homes than previously.

Every citizen has always had a voice in parliament! I have had (like EVERY Aussie) my whole life! But what are you suggesting to the government on my behalf? That society needs to re-value familial piety? That people should be educated to plan better for retirement? Or, neither of those, and all working members of society should pay a greater percentage of tax to help keep the oldies happy? I can't see any other choice.
And though ageist to suggest all pensioners struggle (because I don't...) it surely has been the responsibility of the individual, over their lifetime, to ensure they have accumulated adequate funds to support their retirement? I have a very unpopular hobby that is not appreciated. I like to take pictures, but I'm not even a photographer. I just like to take pictures. My original interest is to like to draw, but then I like to take pictures. It can also express fine arts. But when I tell others that I can take pictures, but others will laugh, who can't take pictures? Everyone takes pictures, right? But I'll go and study the composition of the photo, etc. I feel relaxed when I take pictures, I...

On December 23rd 2019 I turned my television off, and it hasn't been turned on since. I haven't watched TV for over 2 and a half years. People are genuinely surprised by that and often ask why. I lob the question "why should I?" right back, and they are stumped. Here's your chance to help them out. What benefits does watching TV provide?

Wondering why this time of year, I see bunches of buck deer, some make me like WOW, this morning was one of those mornings, then in season, I do not see any at all. I think some people start hunting before season, is why I don't see them in season, what do you think?
Dang Ling-bits.
We have tadpoles here. Herds of the damn things. They grow into gangs of nasty frogs and annoy the living hell out of me. I will happily trade a deer or two for all of my frogs. Let me know if you are interested.

I have tried eating at restaurants that specify Gluten Free. I have Coeliac disease and am allergic to Wheat. Almost a week ago I went to a nearby Venue for dinner with friends. I ordered a Barramundi and veg. Gluten free. I was assured twice it was gluten free. Unfortunately in the early hours I experienced abdominal pains in my small and large intestine. Almost 6 days later and I am still in pain. Should there be a thorough investigation into Restaurants to make...
Gigi
That's just plain negligence to advertise your selection as gluten free and have it not turn out to be true. You could have had a worse reaction. Celiac disease can be very distressing if you provoke the symptoms with the wrong food. You must say something to the manager and make him comp you a truly gluten free meal. If not, leave a poor review on their website. But dont just let it go......

The Australian government has made a proposal to bring about the possibility of IDENTITY.. to access the internet. Our prime minster said it would reduce bulling on social-media. It's only being discussed at this stage. Do you think this would be a good idea if it's given the go ahead? We have to use ID for many situations, like opening bank accounts, so why not the internet as well. If it passes into law will you be bothered by this, or not?
Paul
I have reservations about this one! Seems like a sledgehammer to squash a flea. My immediate reaction is a bit like the essential basis of democracy going back many centuries being "The Seperation of Church and State". Yes, I'm comparing "Church" to "Internet", which will offend many people! But more of us spend more time using the Internet than participating in faith based social activities. Having said that, I had a friend/client scammed out of several thousand dollars by an internet fraudster who also tried to get his wife' identity, scan of Drivers Licence, Birth Certificate etc. Bullying IS a serious thing, in any form but I am uneasy about Government involvement in our privacy. More "Traditional" Policing methods & education of legitimate users to know what to look out for seems less draconian. Happy Monday!

I may be 70 years old, but I'm still very much alive and kicking (and still a working man), and I still have an interest in, and an opinion on, most subjects. I've been doing surveys on Rewardia (and a number of other sites) for a long while now, but I am getting extremely sick and tired of being asked at the start for gender and age, then immediately being screened out. OK I accept there are some topics that might be specifically for younger people, but it appears that at...

I agree with Trevor M, I am 67,still working in mining, still going strong, still in reasonable shape, lot of surveys will ask age, then screen you out, that is fine, some are looking for younger views, etc, but I still have an opinion on most thinks and consider myself reasonably intelligent,( I only said reasonably)

Tens of millions or even hundreds of millions of people were unemployed in the Great Depression. When the stock market crashed, failure of government policies, bank failures, the collapse of money supply, and the collapse of world trade due to the Smoot-Hawley Tariff in 1929 and the 1930s, many people in the world in the Great Depression are unemployed and/or losing their jobs. With the shortages of staff in hospitals, wouldn't it be a good idea to bring back some of the matrons that did hands on training in hospitals. As I remember, we had some really great nurses trained in this way. Instead of sending them off to University, they could be trained in the same manner as apprentices. It could help fill the hole that we have now, with shortages all over Australia.

I think we should build a rail line right around Australia, with tourist buses operating to bring tourists inland to see places of interest that are off the rail line. The fares could be kept low, so that the tourists will be keen. Operate it, so that people could get off wherever they want to explore and stay for a few days, then hop back on the train and continue to the next stop. This would provide plenty of jobs and help build our economy for the future. Win - win!
APB
The first trick is to bring Australia's pathetic railway system out of the mid 1960s and drag it screaming into the current Century...Germany has its first fleet of 14 Hydrogen powered trains...Japan, China, France and Britain have highly advanced bullet/rocket trains....we have slower services now than when we had steam trains...we waste millions on studies and do nothing...we are currently operating like a third world country....
No vision...no advanced planning...no worthwhile leadership

I have changed my habit of spending money since the COVID-19 occurred. Life cost has become too high, and that makes me wonder how to save money and plan for my future. I go to Avondale Sunday market to buy eggs, vegetables and fruits instead of going to the supermarket. Has your money spend habit changed? And how do you manage to save money in daily life. Welcome to share your good ideas. Thank you

I have become more "Aussie" aware when purchasing food etc. I make a point of always buying Australian produce as I really feel that we have to support our local farmers, producers, retailers etc. I appreciate that this comes at a price is regard to cost and if you are a family with kids this might not always be possible. Buying Australian supports Australia and provides jobs, opportunities and wealth to Australians. The changing economic climate is putting strain on the household budget but hopefully early next year things will start to settle down with the economy. My spending habits have only changed in that UI am even more determined to support Australian businesses where I can.

This may be an American problem...I am not sure...should the only reason for your career be that it is "better paying"....I hope that at least some people devote most of their entire lives to a career that involves something they love and care about...or something that is vitally important or makes everyone else's world a better place...we can all make very important contributions and these should never be devalued

Some claim that anyone who values privacy, must have something to hide. Something criminal or along the lines of it. Why is that? I have relatives who are extremely private, just as I have some who are introverts. It's a habit, it's a lifestyle and for some it's their culture. It's not an immoral behavior for all who value their privacy. Maybe some people are 'up to no good', but not everyone. Your thoughts?

Do you find living in a country area makes you a second class citizen, but a happier and healthier one?
Pearlz
I lived in the country and I was not happier. Anytime we had any type of medical problem we had to travel for an hour for treatment. Anytime we wanted to shop in a large store we had to travel for an hour. Our fuel cost more as did many other things due to transport. We had 2 TV stations and one local radio station. There were far more drugs around than we ever saw in the big smoke and our children got a better education and better jobs. Even 20 years later our friends who remained there still had to travel for some medical appointments. The only thing we did miss was the beach and stopped going once we had moved. Far too many people at suburban beaches.

Yeah, it's confusing. Green, pink and purple all pay up to 1200, red = up to 1000. Surveys often want to how many painkillers and cough medicines you buy in a year....if you say none you are instantly flung out...and on TV there is a constant barrage of adverts telling which painkillers and cough medicines to buy...who is buying all this stuff?...if you are buying it regularly...like groceries...do you think that is normal?...why aren't people going to see doctors?...this industry is raking in millions of dollars...what do you think?

Because of being locked up, our natural immunity isn't being strengthened. People with normal immunity might get sick for a few days. Elderly and immuno compromised people will die. I always have painkillers/cold-flu tabs and immediately take more rest, hot soup and orange juice, tea with lemon and honey..You can't go and see a doctor now. If you have a runny nose they won't see you. We need to be more aware of our immune systems, I take supplements to keep me healthy and eat good food (vegs and fruits). I work in retail. I love my job because I am the last person the customer sees before they leave the store. I think we should always be kind to one another because everyone is fighting a battle that we don t know. So if we can make a difference in someone s day, that s what life should be about
Bugalugs
A smile costs nothing so why not use them?
What I find Most Annoying are those customers who pay no attention whatsoever to the person serving them - particularly in Supermarkets. These Female & Male louts spend the entire time on their damned mobile phones - discussing, Sandra C, Their Private Lives, they make no attempt to respond to the Check-out operator, when the goods are put through they wave their phones over the eftpos terminal, wait long enough to see if their payment has been accepted (when not they blame the store staff & seem to think they are responsible for their credit/debit card being maxed out) then they simply walk away. No Smile. Most certainly NO "Thank You". It is the Customers who are so often extremely rude and if the indifference we sometime experience (it disappears when we speak with then thank & smile) irks then maybe we should remember those Serving us are Real People and it is as a direct result of OUR Indifference to them which makes them indifferent to us!
One of the Most soul-destroying jobs and one of the lowest paid ones, are those unfortunate Women and Men who spend their day swiping goods past a scanner in our Supermarkets.
Give them a Smile, Say "Hullo", "Good Morning/Afternoon" and Thank them for their Service - they do appreciate it and will respond in a Friendly way.

Maybe I am just old fashioned but why do self-styled parents dump their trophy kids with strangers to rear them? Yes, I know all about that phony claim that couples need two highly paid jobs just to live - at the same time we hear endless complaints by one or other of them that "Child Care costs absorb all of one of our incomes"! Since when was it unacceptable for one of the parents to stay at home and do the rearing themselves? Why do so many of these highly paid people think that "The Government" - read "Other Taxpayers" should pay for the rearing of their children? Don't want to bring up your own children? Then don't have any. Make up your minds. Is it Career or Family you want? What makes these people think they are "Entitled to both? You have a $1 million mortgage? Do you really need that 6 bedroom, 7 bathroom, 4 Car Garage, the Pool, the 3, 4 or 5 Entertainment areas? Laying in the sun for 10 -15 minutes a day is the best way to get enough. When ultraviolet rays hit your skin, that light triggers the production of vitamin D. Cast iron is the safest of all the metals if you're not prone to overdosing on Iron so it's great for women of reproductive age and growing children (due to needing extra iron) but not so great for men.
The most inert material you can cook with is soda lime glass or borosilicate glass. Stay away from leaded glasses which leach lead.

When I was 15years & 10months old, I met the man who was to become my husband. I actually asked him if we could get engaged as he was due to go in the Army & do his 2 years national service. I waited till he came out of the army so when I was 18 years & 1 month, we had a white wedding which was a dream of mine. This coming September we will have been married for 62 years. We have had our "ups & downs" as they say but we have always been able to sort them out. If I had my way again, it would be exactly the same except for a bit more travelling than what we have done. My daughter was a victim of getting bullied at school. There were always a view girls that would walk past her d either say something wicked or just bumped into her, so she would lose her balance and either fall or landed against the wall way wall. She wanted to change school's, but couldn't. We went to the school and talked to them, but nothing changed. The last option was to go see the principal of Hastings Girls High school, but she said she will sort it...

The same thing happened to my granddaughter and the school was useless. They even tried to pick on her younger brother and she intervened but she was the one in trouble. Schools don't do the right thing for their pupils and it just seems to be a few that are bullies and they get away with it. If more is done in school we could stop this instead they just sweep it under the carpet and hope the parents go away.
