Criticism is envy? Is that some new psycho-babbler's clap-trap to make people feel good about themselves? If someone criticises another person it is usually because of some, rightly or wrongly, perceived failing in what that person does or says and most certainly not because they do or say something of which the critic is envious. Maybe Its Time to have a good hard look at yourself and consider whether what you say or do is deserving of criticism or do you really think that every word you utter, ever thing you do is so perfect, so ideal it is all above criticism and that you and you alone are always in the Right! I grew up on a dairy farm with both parents and 4 sisters. As far back as I can remember, we had foster children in our home. Often 2 at a time but mostly 1 and once 3. I remember wanting to adopt them all, some more than others because they came as wee babies and stayed up to a couple of years and you get really attached; at least as a kid it felt like 2 years. We did end up adopting 2 boys and we are all very close and loving as siblings should be. I wondered recently if my parents did it for the money but my Dad set me straight real quick; $7/month for each child. That didn't even cover food. It was out of the kindness of their loving Christian hearts that they were doing this. In my adult life I was able to foster 2 teenaged girls. I don't think there's a much better feeling in life than helping young people out of abusive families and into a Christian home that values them for the gifts they are. And teaching them they are lovable and deserve respect and admiration lead them on to work in a dental office and veterinarian office where their kindness and confidence are shared with a gentleness they never learned in their first families. I am so thankful to God for bringing those girls into my life and the ability to give them what they needed to succeed in life and break the abusive cycle. If any of you get the opportunity to foster and/or adopt a child/children, I say pray about it and if you're led in that direction, follow your heart and do it. You will all be rewarded. Experienced all the big quakes in Christchurch 2010/2011. The 7.1M/depth 10km in 2010 was at 430am. I woke instantly and knew - I genuinely thought the house was collapsing so ran outside although that was hard to do. I thought my heart would explode it was beating so fast. I left the doors open overnight for a month after that. The 6.3M and 6.1M /depth 5km earthquakes that killed nearly 200 people in 2011 was mind-blowing in its violence- you were glued to the spot by the gravitational forces. I was in the kitchen at work and clung desperately to a doorway. The noise was totally deafening. It was just random luck if you happened to be in a structurally safe building or not, whether you were safe, injured or killed, how damaged or liveable your home was. After months of aftershocks (had about 10000), I naturally only took direct Drop-Cover-Hold action for quakes longer than 5 seconds and over about M4.5. It amazes me that the younger generation have the call out for helping the earth, etc. yet they use so much stuff. i.e. wipes, disposable nappies, coffee cups and pods, phones and other electronic equipment, yes and fast food packaging and they usually buy bags at the supermarket also. I have young people around the 30 age bracket in my units here and they do not recycle anything. I saw on the news tonight that the young mothers cannot afford nappies which cost somewhere between $20 and $30 a week apparently and take over 100 years to degrade. We had about 2 dozen cloth nappies that we soaked and washed them. No on going costs with those. We used flannels to wash them with and wipe their faces and then we washed those. We can do our bit but big businesses are doing more damage than we can ever offset. They need to be made accountable. Carbon offset is not the way to go either. Carbon negative is how it should be. Buying some trees to offset the carbon is not lowering it as the trees were already there. Sometimes these areas trees/timber have also been sold so a minus. I guess we all need to make everyone take responsibility from the smallest thing to the largest company and governments.

Budget, that's what I was told as a teenager. The budget works this way; 20% pay to savings, 50% pay to household expenses including mortgage or rent, 10% pay to holidays, 10% pay to clothing and 10% pay to emergency fund. I stuck to this budget and now I look back and am so proud we own our own home, we have had three round the world crusies and several other holiday trips. I think to a certain degree..Americans are more into worrying about and agonising over their relationships...mental health...and my pet hate mindfullness (whatever that means)..and some like talking about themselves a lot, because they maybe find themselves interesting....I have never ever been lonely and very very rarely been anything less than enthusiastic about life...I have a very limited group of friends that I trust..maybe 8...and two who would take a bullet for me or give me anything I asked for if it would help without question...two great sons...a wider social group that I see sometimes but do not worry about too much...and a network here on Rewardia that I value ..I'm happy with that...and don't need anything else...and I'd probably be fine with far less...I do not need or want any medication...my head is in a good place...and always has been... No tablets in our house. I don't see a use for them as we have phones and laptops that do everything needed. Our kids get their first laptop when they start High School (about 12yrs of age) and they get their first mobile phone when they turn 16 years old. We have parental controls on their school laptops and monitor their phones until they turn 18. This is a bit of a mixed up discussion topic. Mental health issues and domestic violence are two different things. Mental health issues do not lead to domestic violence. Domestic violence is about power and control, and can be exhibited in many ways, not just physically, and not just by men towards their partners. It does however frequently lead to mental health issues for those who have experienced it or been exposed to it. Getting adequate and timely support for mental health issues, for men, women, and children is not as easy as people seem to think it is. There are long waiting lists to get the appropriate help, and sometimes it can be difficult to even understand, yet explain to another person what the problem is. I agree that boys are a bit confused as to what their roles in society are meant to be at the moment. The rules keep changing, and people keep telling them that they are \u201cbad\u201d, because they were born make. Especially if they are white.

I don't drink alcohol, I have never smoked, I don't play the pokies and I have never tried drugs so why people become addicted I have no idea, and while what others chose to do is their own business I am growing tired of their lives over flowing into mine. You can also put on rainy day wear and go puddle stomping and for walks with the umbrella. Rain doesn't have to be a sentence to the indoors. Walk an indoor mall. They usually have little people areas to climb on soft big animals or ride a little train or carousel indoors. At least the malls in America have those features. Hopefully there too.

When my children were pre-teens my husband was very often away, often for months at a time with the RAN so I ruled my home with an iron rod. If I hadn't my life would have been hell. They were children and had rules and rarely needed to be punished. There was no acting up or swearing, they were allowed out to play but had a time that they had to be home. I really didn't ever have a problem with any of them and they were church goers. They are all married now with children of their own, they were never in any trouble, didn't do drugs and were not drinkers. They also stayed at home until they married which was late in their 20"s. My mother always said I had turned my sons into sooks but their wives tell me a did a brilliant job with them. Because dad was usually not here my boys were quite close to me and were always very helpful to their mum. One rings 2 or 3 times a week for a chat.

I was born in UK. My parents chose a different religion to their familes, and most of both families turned against my parents. Because of that rift I grew up knowing who my grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins were, but not having a very close bond with them. In 1971 my father announced that we were emigrating to Australia. Before we left UK we were told that there was a house ready for us, and jobs for my father and myself. We arrived in "the land of sunshine" in June on a very wet, cold, windy day, there was also no house or jobs, so we had to live in the Pennington Hostel and look for work. That was the only time I felt homesick. As our circumstances improved we were glad we had come. In 2006 I made my first trip back to UK for a 7 week holiday, but then I was happy to return home to Australia, for me 'home' is where my immediate family are.

I reside (moved to a warm weather area - Southern Sunny California) in Southern Sunny California for almost 39 years, and it has been almost 39 years since I have to deal with cold weather (however, Southern Sunny California is basically a desert - not a lot of rainfall on an annually basis in Southern Sunny California - I actually look forward to rainy days in Southern Sunny California). I will have to relocate to the MOON - to get away from windy days (LOL)! At a younger age, while I was still finding my feet - a glass bender. Yep, that was the job title. Worked nights in front of a very large and very hot rotating furnace kiln. We had long poles and we reached into the flames and placed flat sheets of glass onto the molded seats, they went around inside the kiln and then rotated back into view, perfectly melted, molded and shaped. We then took them out and placed them to cool off. It was quite complicated as there were 25 sheets of glass inside at any time. The molding seats came out with the glass and new seats had to be placed in and then new glass sheets had to be put onto them.5-man crew all working in harmony. Then, the owner SHOULD have a conservation with an attorney (lawyer) - that way the owner can find out - if this customer - can legally - be 'bar her' from entering the premise (business). Sometimes, THE CUSTOMER IS NOT ALWAYS RIGHT. Which is WHY I always worked in the PUBLIC SECTOR!
