Beauty pageants have been around for many years especially in the USA and mothers are really competitive to the detriment of their children. I have to agree with Christina, competition with kids, their birthday parties, etc. is all to do with the parent/s whereas children generally just want to have fun with their friends. We used to call it keeping up with the Jonses, now it is way out of control. Putting little children in full makeup, hair, expensive outfits is just sickening.

I wear whatever I am comfortable wearing and care nothing for anybody else's opinion of what I wear or don't wear. I have no idea what 'acting your age' is supposed to look like & quite frankly wouldn't give a rats. I'd probably tell them to go take a long walk off a short plank, but in much more colourful language.

Have I got a story for you! Forced to retire at 62 because my "husband" took my car, I started drawing Social Security, until he demanded it too. Left without my car and my money, I spent 3 1/2 years "imprisoned" by him, unable to even buy groceries. He took me out once a day to a Mexican restaurant where I ate everything I could and I went up to 208 pounds on my 5'4" body. In 2013 he moved me to WA state where we were to retire together, but he left me at the Navy Lodge on base like a bag of garbage and he returned to Texas. They let me stay from May 21 to July 3 when I was evicted owing over $3000! Well, I went back to work at age 66 and retired, again, at age 72, when COVID-19 hit. I saved up over $10,000 in those 6 years, now living on Social Security, Section 8 housing, food stamps (EBT card), grants for electricity and a $30 discount for the internet! I now weigh 135 pounds, am 5'2" (yes, we do shrink!), and am healthier and happier than I've been in my life! Yes, I still have my savings and am allowed to have it! AND, I went to the government and got my permanent military ID card WITHOUT my "husband"! God is Great! God is Good! ;-D

Last week at 8pm, driving home from Wellington airport, it was raining and windy, just came out of the Terrace tunnel, saw a car on the road shoulder with a man bending over the engine trying to get it going {middle couple with grandson}.His wife and a child were in the car, I pulled out infront of them, I could not start their car. so I tow them all the way to Plimerton. They were so happy, the man say, he will have his son look at it in the morning.They thank me so many times I left, I drove through the red light , I didi not see a cop car, he pulled me over. Just as he was about to write me a ticket his private phone rung. He went back to the patrol car. He came back and ask me where i just came from. I explained.what i did , I mention a certain address. and he say thank you for helping them. so please don't drive through a red light again. I would have faced a huge fine

Well I really hope not but a long time ago my parents would eat Chinese at a shop some where in Brisbane any way the shop was caught enticing the local street cats and they served them up as chicken. Yuk so my parents do believe they have eaten cat, not by choice of course. The shop was closed down obviously. A woman I knew was really upset by some people that lived near her as they were trying to catch ducks in the local park. Setting traps for them and yes using them as food. I am pleased we don't have wet markets here in Australia but I am sure if you knew where to look there could be a black market and you could get what ever you wanted at a cost. We use and abuse animals for a lot of things and food is only a part of the whole situation unfortunately. I do eat meat don't get me wrong but I do feel for the animals especially if we treat them so badly. Big problem we have now is eggs, a dozen is now going to cost us $15 because we aren't allowing caged hens. All hens have to be free ranged or barn laying. I was a little put off as I will refuse to pay that much for eggs. An alternative to using an egg/eggs in a cake is 1. Apple Sauce 2. Banana and 3. 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of vinegar (per egg) 4. plain or vanilla yoghurt. Maybe when they realise some people will refuse paying that price the price will drop but only time will tell. We do have alternative solutions for this problem and we are not reliant to them for our needs. We will adapt and find other ways. I like eggs but I will slowly learn to live without them.

Yes. I knew a lady that I worked with. She and her husband bickered every day in a house they shared. They ended up divorcing after 35 years of marriage. They both live down the hall from each other in an apartment block and now are getting along amazingly well. She calls her ex-husband her new best friend. Life can change for the better!

I STILL feel, while there are people in our community who have fought for our respective countries and who would have given their lives for it, that the RESPECT dang well better be there!. I ALWAYS refer to someone over the age of 40, I'm 57, with "Sir or Mam". I use the age of 40 as a baseline as all of my children are under this age. I truly believe that it is their, our elders, DUE to be treated with a title showing that we respect their age as an identifier of a history and life experience that, we hope, we shall not endure! However, if they state, as the gentleman I spoke with yesterday did in giving his name and permission for me to use it, THEN and ONLY then, will we be on a more familiar first name basis. Years ago when I was doing a stint in the Geriatrics Department of a hospitaI I had called an older lady "Dear" and was quickly admonished for it. I was told that I was NEVER to call someone that due to it being disrespectful and to refer to them as Mr or Mrs Smith or whatever their name on the wall behind them indicated and if there wasn't a visible name then Sir or Mam would do. I UNDERSTAND that times change but some things need preserving, at least for a few more decades! I don't hold out hope though for the general public what with "pregnant mother" being relegated to the annals of history and "birthing parent" being used instead. Or, even worse as I see it, "breast feeding mother" now known as "chest feeding parent". The word "mother" is forbidden in places and I don't just mean in the movie "A Brave New World"! The use of language identifies us as individuals and changing this, as is intentionally occurring now through the Big Tech monopolies, strip's us of that identifier. I want to be known as a mother and grandmother. I BREASTFED my SONS and my DAUGHTERS. Taking this away without my consent is violating my unique identity. One, I would look for smoke. Two, I check my door - by touching it - searching for heat. Third, I would call 911 (I reside in the USA). Four, I don't have smoke detectors in my domicile - I do have carbon monoxide detectors in my domicile (comes with a ten-year-battery). Five, I would call my insurance company - emergency number (trying to remember 'if' I my home insurance covers fire or smoke damage). FYI: I 'always' check my domicile to make sure I did not leave any appliances on ('every' time I leave my domicile - I am eighty years old - my memory plays mind games with me - lol).

Oh, so many memories. I did not realise how poor we were when very small. Mum used to give us a weet bix spread with the drippings and vegemite and we loved it. When older, favourite dessert was rice pudding and roast lamb and all the trimmings every Sunday. Snacks which I still make today are fritters, especially the potato ones now called german potato cakes or something, and potato and onion cooked up with herbs and spices. Loved spaghetti bolognaise - actually, the only thing I turned my nose up at was liver, tripe and sweetmeats in general. All of us kids ate whatever was put on the table in front of us and my kids were the same. Aww, we kids back then were so easy for our Mum's to look after - most of the time! Lol.

I actually live in BC Canada. I find it really hard to believe The Keg would allow this. The restaurant has to have a food safe certificate to operate. A dog would be going against the food safety guidelines. Only service dogs are allowed in restaurants, so curious how this happened. I think this was a one time situation? But yeah, I wouldn't want to dine with a dog in a restaurant that I'm eating at.

I've been a gardener all my life, and currently have a small home garden and oversee a community garden at my church, where we have 68 plots of 100 sq. ft. each. There we have raised produce for local hunger relief - with this being our 25th year!

I was flying from AL to Sydney when I was in an incident. The guy next to me started jiggling. At first I though he was listening to music, then realised he was sick. I called the stewardess and told her. The next thing was the classic announcement "is there a doctor on the plane". They found one, and he and the stewardess started trying to help the guy. The stewardess turned to me and said "the doctor needs more space, and the only spare seat is in first class, would you mind moving?" So in the spirit of helping out I made the sacrifice and moved to first class for the rest of the trip.

The vet looked at the woman and said, "I'm sorry, but as I said, this is most definitely, 100% certifiably, a dead duck." The vet turned to his computer terminal, hit a few keys and produced a bill, which he handed to the woman.. The duck's owner, still in shock, took the bill. "$150!" she cried, "$150 just to tell me my duck is dead!" The vet shrugged, "I'm sorry. If you had just taken my word for it, the bill would have been $20, but with the Lab Report and the Cat Scan, it's now $150."

Waiting on a miracle? I see them around me every day! I will just mention one because I have the first beautiful flower on a new Christmas Cactus plant. I notice the intricate and perfect details in flowers. No matter where they're from in the world flowers are perfectly made with identically sized petals and intricately dotted or .... I can't even describe them. They're just SO miraculously detailed. And scented beautifully as a bonus:)

When you trust someone/thing for information you think is important you need to be able to check, I personally think they are rorters...and make a lot of money without ever proving to anyone what they say is factual. That is called a broad head arrow or "Bear" head. Very expensive and very lethal. Judging from the size it comes from a crossbow which is totally illegal where I come from. I have archery equipment. I don't hunt but I do go out bush to practice for the sport of it. If you miss a target with the types of powerful bows that are on the market today, the arrow could end up anywhere.

Some things I would like to have changed but on the whole, I am content with my life. My husband & I have been married 65 years, have 2 daughters, one is happily married for 35 years, produced 3 wonderful sons & we have 1 great grandson & 2 great granddaughters, so to achieve & to live & see 4 steps of the family, is terrific these days & I am proud of each & every one

We don't eat at a dinner table . Unless it's out at family 's for an event . My son was one of the worst fussiest non eaters as a child so to avoid all the stresses and the direct eye contact of sitting across from eachother ... we ended up with the t.v on for distraction and he had his little stool pulled up to the edge of the coffee table while I relaxed on the couch. Scandalous yes I know ,but it was the only way mealtimes wouldn't end up with a plate of food thrown at the wall in frustration. :/

I read of a couple who spent the whole year cruising from one boat to another, according to where the boat was cruising too. Now that sounds lovely, meals all cooked & prepare for you. I would do a cruise that would take in Samoa (not the AMERICAN side) as it is where my husband & I renewed our Wedding Vows & we had a marvelous time. We started off at Fiji for a week then we went to Samoa. I even had a Puletasi (traditional wedding dress) made for me who was the lady working in the souvenir shop. She also happened to be a seamstress in her "spare" time. It was lovely & my husband wore the traditional dress code for a man. We still have them, can't say that they still fit but we still have the photo's & memories of that wonderful holiday. We did that trip back in about 1995 & next month we celebrate our 65th year of being married.

My father in law passed, followed by my partner a few months later. I inherited my partner's share of his fathers' estate as well as my partner's insurance. Did it change me? Yes, I've become a recluse, I was sick of people asking me for money. I purchased a cheap half an acre in the wop wops (remote) which I'm currently building on myself so future generations can make use of it. My sons' have received a decent sum each, I have helped out family and friends but I stopped helping people out months ago. I have not bought a new car, gone on holiday, or been on a shopping spree with my money.

I think happiness is a lifelong journey, you will always have great moments to look back on but I never knew until I got to this period in my life what it truly means to be happy, to see my grandkids smiling/laughing and discovering new and different things highlights my life every day, being a part of that is truly a gift

I'm Blessed because my bank doesn't charge for ATM withdrawals, or their checking or savings accounts ($50 saving minimum), so I never have any fees to pay! They even give nice gifts on our birthdays if we come into the bank. I've received an umbrella (with their name on it, of course), coffee mugs, and others. I love my bank, and will never change! ;-D

Hwew we g o again! men are being blamed for everything. They Must do exactly as they are told to by some female. It is his dresser, his side of the bed, you have invaded his space - something you women constantly tell us we are doin to you - and have interfered in his Walk-in Closet by going in and clearing out his things and then ordering him to put his things there. I agree that you are living a clean healthy life but you are wrong when you say the majority picks on the minority as it's quite the reverse. The people demonstrating for Palestine are a minority, the people pushing man-made climate change are a minority, the people who claim a man can be a woman are certainly a minority and the LGB and whatever other letters they have are a minority. They all scream and shout while the silent majority keeps their heads down and gets on with it.

i would give up a family member before i relinquished an animal. Any person who gives up an animal for this bullshit reason is irresponsible garbage. Change your budget & make cutbacks.....your furry family member is relying on you

Why should there be an age limit on dogs V seniors, pets of any sort or name, pets give the elderly a reason to keep them happy, fit, and in their right minds, if they can't walk their dog, there are volunteer's companies like here in my area " Poops" and dog care that comes to the home. I can not understand people that come up with these ideas, It should be up to the individual if they want a dog or not

If it was my cafe they wouldn't be doing that...unless they would like to discuss leasing a table...I could be open to that...make the place look busy?...I could maybe live with that....otherwise I'd look forward to seeing them next time...(that would require them leaving now)

I would say, selfishness. Only being concerned about what they want and what makes them happy. Couldn't care less about what the other partner wants or needs, doesn't care about the children. Some how I found myself married to such a person, the marriage officially lasted 12 years.

The Bible reads at John 15:13, "No one has love greater than this, that someone should surrender his soul (life) in behalf of his friends." At 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 the Bible tells us what love is, and what it is not. If we all followed Bible principles, there would be no hatred, no wars. At Colossians 3:14 the Bible reads, "But, besides all these things, clothe yourselves with love, for it is a perfect bond of union." Jesus Christ loved mankind so much, he died for us! And, in relationships, if everything the man does if for her, and everything the woman does is for him, they will have a happy, peaceful relationship filled with love! Compromise! ;-D

chef on tv? why wud anyone beleive ANYthing they are saying, they are trying to make a living. they r not the real source of truth. almost all foods have an amt of protein, so are just more easily digested than others. Animal proteins are very hard to digest, and can't be used by the body until they are broken down to amino acids. (this takes alot of energry away from other thigns the body has to do) ...its why we feeel like we are going into a food coma, after a huge (usually protein meal), all energy is diverted from all but essential body organs. Most plant proteins don't take nearly as much to digest, except for beans. Not only are they hard to digest, they are also hard on the kidneys (like animal proteins are). Bottom line is, if you still want to eat meat, cut down substantially. We do not need the amt of animal products we eat these days. U will save ur kidneys and be much healthier. Kidney disease is fast becoming No. 1 killer. This protein business is largely a myth, promoted and driven by, give you 1 guess by who? Dairy and cattle industries. *who'd of thought* I ALWAYS ask who benefits from the information you are reading? - if someone benefits financially...then chances are the information is BS. anyways my two cents worth....

Hope this doesn't happen here in Australia. The big Pharma companies would have an even greater field day.
