Discussions of the day

The day the earth stood still, the moment you absolutely knew you found your true, everlasting love? It's one of those life-changing experiences that are hard to forget. For some people though, it's more than that. They can't let go, and are determined to rekindle the old flames. People are using the internet to track former sweethearts. Some even get back together and live happily ever after. But the path of long lost love doesn't run smoothly. Do you remember your first childhood...

Many Huge Multi-national corporations claim to be very concerned about Climate Change, Sustainability and that they are addressing these issues with their products. But are they? They seem to be endlessly releasing products which, if anything, do little to nothing to help. An example is those plastic capsules which you toss into the washing Machine, but after it has dissolved, what happens to that Plastic? Another is Those Water, literally hundreds of litres....

No-one is doing anything...and it is for most part photo ops...and talk fests...anything that is being done that is worthwhile is too little and far too late...I'd like to lay into all of them...in their nice suits..with a baseball bat...useless worthless greedy people who are not only lying to us.. but locking us into a future where we will at first be forced to endure a terrible planet that will in a very short period of time kill us all....the clowns and idiots involved are guilty of crimes that are far worse than any war crime...but nobody will be left to punish them...may they all rot in hell

As the Government continues to try to force us to buy expensive Electric Vehicles, I am at a standstill. Why? 1. We don't have enough dams to service the electrical Grid. 2. The batteries are EXTREMELY expensive to replace 3. I chatted with a professional engineer that measures Electro Magnetic Fields. He told me that you will never find an EV at his house. I wear hearing aids and have a TV, laptop, cell phone, etc. which all contribute...
Priscilla R 316016
I think the world is being led by the nose by "greenies" who have been taught at school how wonderful and pollution friendly EV's are without sufficient knowledge to think things through for themselves and make rational judgements. I hate to think what will happen to all the worn out batteries in the future, let alone what will happen during a black-out, or a severe dumping of snow on major highways. No way will you stay warm in a car that can't continue turning over. The future possibilities just don't bear thinking about. Common sense and rationalism has gone out the window.

It was announced this morning that the NSW Premier is expecting his seventh child. I think good on him. The country will need lots of well educated, high earning tax payers in the years to come. If you can afford them, as well he can, I think it is a wonderful thing. I always found the more the merrier. Children just love having other children around all the time. With no nappy washing and all the modern conveniences it would be an absolutely delightful family to...

While I am very grateful that Gladys has gone....and even more grateful to have left NSW for good...I'm not sure Elizabeth...my impression of "Whats his name" is that he is a slightly camp, right wing stick insect...with an ego so massive even Scott Morrison has been surprised...someone else pointed out that he holds out his "mass of children"... "like a human shield" to prove that he is straight...I don't know...but if that has any credence at all..I find that very sad...and he shouldn't be trying hide his true feelings....I personally find him just so very deeply creepy and strange...Yuk!....is that just me?...I wouldn't like to be one of his children or any part of his family...but I think its fine if he wants to adopt you....

Joe Biden has pledged to raise America's national minimum wage to $15 an hour. Economists traditionally believed that minimum wages actually hurt workers, but recent research has led to a rethink. What do you think - does it hurt workers?
Meghan H 909873
In New Zealand the minimum wage is $21.20. What has happened is that all essential businesses where staff earn minimum wage (eg petrol stations, supermarkets) have put their prices up. This means that the minimum wage earners are not any better off and those of us earning a little more, but not a lot more than minimum wage are significantly worse off as the prices go up. And, our tax brackets have not moved in years, so if you earn more, you pay more income tax.

My Mother said when she met my Grandmother for the first time, she noticed 2 of their plates were chipped. Instead of helping to wash them up she deliberately dropped them, smashing them to pieces. She said now you will have to get new ones! What do you think about eating/drinking from chipped or cracked kitchenware? Do you think it s offensive to serve up your guests on such decor?
BLACK LIVES MATTER
It is NOT the quality (chipped or cracked) of the kitchenware that counts, it is the quality of the food being served to you in a personal (or family) setting THAT counts! I appreciate the time it took to serve a well-cooked meal - not the appearance of the kitchenware - as long as the kitchenware is clean and safe to eat from - Bon Appetit :-))!

If you and your partner are travelling on a long-distance flight (10+ hours) and one of you is offered an upgrade to business class, would you take it? Who would take it, or would you both stay in economy together? This happened to us last year, and we chose to stay together.

I was flying from AL to Sydney when I was in an incident. The guy next to me started jiggling. At first I though he was listening to music, then realised he was sick. I called the stewardess and told her. The next thing was the classic announcement "is there a doctor on the plane". They found one, and he and the stewardess started trying to help the guy. The stewardess turned to me and said "the doctor needs more space, and the only spare seat is in first class, would you mind moving?" So in the spirit of helping out I made the sacrifice and moved to first class for the rest of the trip.

OK... My neighbour is weird....yesterday...... I walked past the house with my dog at around 11.30 in the morning...the car is in the drive...the engine is running and the male occupant is slumped over the steering wheel...like he is dead or asleep or something... I look in the car he is not moving... I take on board everyone's advice from the last discussion page and just walk on by...not my problem, right?...and the next day the car is gone again...what is going on? Is it...
Dana 1705135
It's good to be aware of your surroundings it's not a problem it's a necessity, if the person is slumped over they may be exhibiting exhaustion or a medical problem or so many other things. If you feel safe I would think a quick conversation with the neighbors would help give you a piece of mind.

Anyone else have lovely neighbours who think they can come and slice branches off your favourite tree? I have a beautiful well cared for Frangipani which I just noticed is missing at least 4 new branches for its summer show of flowers!! I know they all want to grow their own cuttings but really? It's also the wrong time of year to take them Now I am without shade and extra privacy in the front.

How did the initial energy come into existence? The expansion began only after the universe already existed in a highly condensed state. So, what was the origin of that first energy before the expansion started?
NotFriedLikeMost
You can NEVER have "something" come from "nothing".
It is why it is called the big bang THEORY for a reason...not proven or truhful AT ALL.
Why do the elites push this lie? Simple...if we can be made to THINK we are so insignificant and RANDOMLY came from NOTHING...then it is easier FOR THEM to justify how they MUST HAVE "been chosen" to rule over us. When, in reality, NOBODY is insignificant and NOBODY should be ruling over ANYONE else.
Yet, here we are...lied to about this, lied to about our earth, lied to about EVERYTHING during 'satans little season', or, the age of deception from 1776 thru to 2026. The jig is up, folks!! The Millenium Reign already happened when Christ returned in 70 AD.
"Christ" returning for a THIRD TIME is ALLEGORY for TRUTH COMING BACK TO SOCIETY!!!!!! This is why these globalists are rushing to get us under their digital enslavement asap...because, as TRUTH comes back, their LIES GET EXPOSED. I have been at this since 1999...and yet most have been so asleep and unaware, but, thankfully, the truth is so strong and real that folk will NOT be able to deny it anymore. EVERYTHING WE KNOW HAS BEEN A LIE TO FIT THE GLOBAL ELITES NARRATIVE...so THEY can work to enslave US ALL.
Thse elites beLIEve to be "chosen ones"...but, remember, as per Revelation, these people SAY they are a certain group, BUT ARE NOT!!
It's BEEN proven they have deceived humanity for thousands of years, especially in this last 250 year period, aka satans little season. These deceivers are the evil behind EVERYTHING in our society today. Just remember...the BLACK CUBE of SATURN is what they worship. "Kabbalah" is what they practice. It's no COINCIDENCE they also created Islam...which has fools worshipping satan as well...as they worship at the KAABA of ALLAH. It's LITERALLY in the words, yet most CANNOT SEE. ANYTHING in this 3D realm that is "religious" IS against God. ALL OF IT...TO DECEIVE YOU!!!!!! You awake and aware yet? Get rid of them 'smart'phones and as MUCH tech as possible...a REGRESSION technologically is the answer...and STOP getting jabbed! They are LITERALLY changing your DNA and ANY AND ALL injectables post-Covid fraud ARE ALL THE SAME TECH DOING THIS. Homo borgensis is your new term if you get these transhumanist shots.
Stop complying to these LIARS and FRAUDS.

Hey, so life's a bitch, and then you die! Is this your reality? Have you spent your life doing what s right? Giving to those less fortunate? Putting others needs before your own? Living a life of kindness and caring for others? And now you re healthy, happy, wealthy and wise? Living your best life? No problems? No stress? And most importantly, you ve spent your life staying positive, giving generously, sometimes giving everything you ve got? Putting everyone else...

Well Angie, I will give this a shot. Hopefully, this helps someone. There are waves of ups and downs in life. Some people have more of them and others less. That is the unfairness of life. We all do not arrive on this earth plane on the same playing field. However a good attitude towards one another and our self is critical if we want to evolve as better human beings. Hopefully there is enough time to learn this. Find your loving purpose and intention and spread it to others as much as you can. How do you want to be remembered by others? Best wishes!

You should be asking, "What makes me so angry? Why do I feel this way?"
Are you envious of your sister's wealth and success? Why can't you be proud of her success? If this is something you want too, work toward it like I'm sure she did. I doubt if it was handed to her. I'm sorry you felt you had to ask this question. There are much more important things in life than wealth and success, Andrzej, trust me! ;-D

Swearing may occur occasionally in informal or high-pressure environments, but it is generally unprofessional. Swearing at workplace - do you find it acceptable?
boy blunder
swearing is part of our culture today, its all over the little box we watch so often, our kids are often exposed to bad language wherever you go, do I find it offensive, no, do I swear, rarely ,depends if you talk to a swearer you tend to swear because they do, but tv allows all kind of profanities, I think it starts there, the gov have relaxed all kinds of morals that was once controlled , and as a result morals and standards have dropped, its amazing that kids first words are not profanities

They say time heals everything. But it's been 8 years and the pain from betrayal still lingers. Family, friends, spouse. How does one cope with this? Any advice is appreciated ...
Vesta
It's all dependent on the person and science has shown that everytime you revisit a negative memory you actually reinforce its presence in your brain and make it stronger.
Humans are wired to look for negative patterns as it used to potentially save our life.
So there comes a point where you have to CHOOSE to move forward and force new better habits, memories and pathways in the brain. Yes this takes time but consider the alternative. You get older and the realization that you will die one day starts to hit. You look back at your life and what did you do with it...sulk, sit depressed over the past. That truly is a life wasted.
It always takes two to tango so when you say that you have been betrayed by your friends, family AND spouse then I'm sorry but you definitely contributed in some way. False memory is often instant especially for those who suffer trauma so no doubt the past you're remembering is not entirely accurate and more forcefully negative from your own presumptions. No person is ever so innocent that the world completely dominates them through no fault of their own.
Like attracts like so start by focusing on your OWN actions and be the change you want to see in the world. If someone has betrayed you it's because you let them. Learn to be your own champion and put yourself first but be kind to others along the way without compromising your truest values.
There are few true victims in society but by choosing to be one especially after so many years and not moving on you are not only actively creating a life of misery for yourself but you feed it to those around you making their lives harder and repeating the cycle.
Most of you will deem this harsh but if kind words were going to help then they would have worked by now...8 years already! You have so much more life to live... don't feel guilty at what's already passed just savour what's left. Move forward and refuse to let any actual betrayals continue to ruin your life or they win. It's your choice so make it.

Recently, a child was discussing different ideas for a family pet with his mother. The child rattled off, "bird, fish, cat and dog". All ideas were met with a resounding no. Finally, the child could be heard saying 'axolotl'. The mother's response was priceless. "That's not even a word!" In life, we may have heard or seen something that has made us pause, smile or relate to. What is your moment of "you can't be serious!" *Please be kind to each other with...
P F
Actually an Axolotl is an amphibian that looks like half a lizard and half a fish. 10 out of 10 points for him asking for that!. Kids are amazing, they soak up facts and information like a sponge. They must have seen it somewhere on TV or in a book. The response of "That not even a word" is 0 out of 10. Don't put the ideas of children down. They missed a wonderful opportunity for an interesting conversation. NEVER put children's ideas down. We are adults/so what? Nurture a child's growth and never stunt their imagination or ideas.

This invites reflection on friendships, family, or relationships, and allows people to share personal experiences or thoughts about loss, change, or distance in life.

There’s a miriad of answers for this question. I think, personally, that we often don’t appreciate what we have until it’s gone and relationships break down when you don’t take the time to nurture them. People don’t like feeling that they are being taken for granted and we can do this without realising the effect it has on those we genuinely care about until the time comes when they feel so undervalued that the relationship falls apart. I would love to be able to go back in time and spend more time with the people that I loved who are now gone out of my life but I can’t. I just try not to make the same mistake again and every time I talk to my adult children I tell them that I love them as this might be the last time I get to say it. I still care deeply for people whom I have had no contact with in years yet it is too late to repair the damage. Be kind every day! Thanks for reading.

The Government is talking about a cat curfew again. A lot of people are saying it won't work. Why not? Cats are responsible for killing a lot of wildlife. I have quite a few friends who have cats, and we had one when we were living on 5 acres. None of them go outside unless on a leash. Our cat had an area which it could run around and would have a lot of fun. But not kill any wildlife. I have seen some great cats runs and if I had a cat would build...
Bugalugs
Just how are they going to police this? Are Councils going to employ people to stay up all night - which is when cats are out and about, entereing people's properties without warning? If they do are they prepared, and take Full Responsibility if some of them get killed by Property Owners? It should be remembered that in some countries they have almost non-existent Gun Laws (the USA springs to mind), where mass killings are now the norm, people are allowed to have virtually any type of Military Weapons they fancy which they claim they need to protect their homes and families - its all nonsense but then that is what we expect from Trumpland! The death of these unannounced invaders of people's property will be inevitable, people will shoot first and ask questions later. In Australia where we are not supposed to have any firearms , but many do, if someone started poking around my property in the middle of the night I would turn a high-powered hose on them. The whole idea is based on sheer stupidity, is unworkable.

Fall is near in Canada, and the signs are already beginning to show. The air is getting cooler, the days are shorter, and the leaves are slowly starting to change into beautiful shades of red, orange, and yellow. In recent weeks I have heard of a lot of people I know, either directly or indirectly, having lost a lot of weight with the help of these drugs. I am finding it hard to believe just how common they are. They do seem to work. I have refused them. I am only slightly overweight and sugars aren't too bad overall. Do you know anyone who has had success with them?
Shawn B 1061185
I used Ozempic until it threatened my life. I lost almost 100 pounds in a few short months. I suffered through almost all of the listed side effects.
I started randomly passing out and I finally just quit using it. It's been a couple of months now since I stopped using it. My weight is coming back (I don't need to weigh 125 lbs. I should be about 140 or 145.) My breathing is stabalizing and I'm starting to eat regularly.
The drug certainly helped me lose weight. If you're going to use it be very very vigilant about any feelings of ill health.

"Overspending" or a "spending crisis" might be a contributing factor for some, the broader issue is a widespread increase in the cost of essential goods and services, making it difficult for individuals and families to afford basic necessities. What would you say? Are we having a cost-of-living crisis or spending crisis?

SORRY, I sometimes wonder why so many seem to have problems. Do they have extra commitments or credit, debts or what that are not mentioned? MAYBE it is a combination of living on credit, no money to live beyond means. makes price rise hard to adjust to.

Attitudes will never change so long as entertainment writers keep doing the same old things. Why is it that if a man kisses a woman who is in a relationship it is considered that the woman cheated and the man has every right to dump her and be angry at her while when a man ACTUALLY cheats on a woman, it is not a big deal and is expected because, after all, this is what men do. Social media has been accused of being a cause of what's wrong today, with all the self-centered, narcissistic videos, dating apps making relationships trivial and shallow, and one too many people yelling, crying, complaining, and giving "expert" advice from their cars. Common sense requires social interaction. Common sense is usually connected to universal truths. If you don't have regular social interaction, you might not learn what constitutes common sense and how to use it. This is why very smart people who spend a lot of time by themselves might seem to lack common sense. What would you say? Why has common sense disappeared?
NotFriedLikeMost
Common sense is not that common anymore because it pairs well with CRITICAL THINKING.
Nowadays, most are completely brainwashed by all things mainstream and they don't even realize this. They have SLOWLY had their ability TO critically think eroded to the point that most ONLY REACT, instead of stepping out of their indoctrination to actually think critically. Technology has played a massive part in this because everyone is a so-called expert when they can "google it" on their personal GPS tracking device, that has internet, that is invisibly chained to their wrist all day.
But, and this is the kicker, those who CEASE to critically think will rely on those "google" results as 100% TRUTH....and we know, or we SHOULD know, that most of the actual truths have been suppressed on purpose, search results purposely skewed to fit a certain narrative and so on. So now we have a plague of people so far brainwashed...without knowing it, but, also, these same people are SO SURE of themselves as well.
And, to counter the statement in the question posed by Natalia...if you think "Very smart people who spend a lot of time by themselves might seem to lack common sense"...then your perception of WHOM is "very smart" is way off because those who SEEM "very smart" to the general populace, are just the ones who are best at memorizing their brainwashing and regurgitating it on command.
As for myself, I am highly intellectual and DO NOT CARE to be around most people in society BECAUSE I use common sense and possess keen critical thinking ability and discernment. This comes with years of experience, observation and the one thing most lack....PATIENCE.

For me, it's the other way around. Asking your partner to share their location is the red flag. It shows either mistrust, or jealousy. It's borderline stalking to have to know where your significant other is at all times.

I got my black belt in TKD, with Palado TaeKwonDo Academy in a small town, it took me 15yrs (as I had two kids during that time so a few breaks), but I kept returning (with my kids who are also Blue belts atm. I paid for it myself. I dealt with the petrol, the time, whilst working, and eventually (as the boys got older); the whinging!! IT WAS ALL WORTH IT AND STILL IS!
Pay for it yourself, it teaches you/your kids self-confidence, patience, perseverance/ persistence! Govt should do their job; Roads, Rates, schools etc.

I love jewelry don't take me wrong who doesn't, but jewelry is meant to be worn in the right way & a certain amount of it on you. I find the many people go overboard with it in all the wrong places. It makes it look ugly & also makes the person unattractive wearing it in the wrong places. Earrings are for ears, rings are for fingers etc. why do people go overboard & wear so much on their face or other places where it doesn't belong. Here you have as example an attractive...
Norman PSBHRJ
To each it's own. Stop judging others because they like jewelry. You might think it makes a person ugly, but did you ever consider they like and love the way they look. The problem here you call these people ugly and judging them. Theres enough hate in the world and thats because some people judge other and forbid that they might be diferrent.

While we are used to electric scooters blowing up and killing people (no-one seems worried about these)...electric cars bursting into flames....we have just had our first commercial airplane destroyed because of Lithium-ion batteries stored in the overhead luggage racks...WHAT'S NEXT?...they are introducing Smart Luggage...it monitors itself and tells you where it is etc...and every bag has a Lithium-ion battery inside it. All it takes is ONE to explode on...

Most people start experiencing a decline in their energy levels by the time they reach their mid-thirties. And this decline in energy levels can be attributed to various factors, including changes in metabolism, hormonal changes, and lifestyle factors such as diet, exercise, and stress. What is your experience? At what age do you start feeling old and tired?
John 1631376
I have a birthday tomorrow, I will turn 86.😁😁 I refuse to feel old and tired. I take no medication, I do 50 pushups, 30 situps and ride a stationary bike every morning when I wake-up and just before going to bed. Here's to old age.

I recently went to Dr Sunil in Bangkok with my husband. I had 7 filling at $970 for them and very happy. My husband had all teeth removed with implants 4 on top and 6 on bottom implants, $32500. Whether we like it or not, change is coming and appears to be influencing all aspects of our life. Whether it be technology, ways of thinking or beliefs, education and even living situations. How are you adapting to change, and what are some things you have found helpful and ways to be more receptive to new things? Or are you happy to stay with what you know and what works?
Andrew C 287196
"Change" is too wide a category. Some changes are good, some changes are bad, and some are just ridiculously silly.

What are your plans for 2025? I try not to make resolutions as they never stick... 2025 for us is going to be all about getting back to basics, decluttering and minimising how much "stuff" we have around us and what comes into the house ... With the cost of living these days going up and up, we need to find better ways to deal with what we have and use each week. Cooking more at home, buying less stuff and making more space in our lives for each...

I suppose I got a bit of a head start on everybody else. Earlier this month I moved interstate back to sunny Victoria( well sometimes it is). I left a d.v relationship with basically my clothes and my youngest son and his things to be with family. So decluttering DONE. Now just focusing on my health mental and physical as well as slowly saving to replace all I left behind. Pretty proud of myself at this point as I thought previously the only way I would get out was in a wooden box. I look forward to a better year than many more previous ones.i know for sure it can't possibly be worse. For the first time in quite I while I love my life. Hope everyone else out there has a reason to smile this coming New Year and sees us all better off than the last.

Parental/carer mental ill health can, in some circumstances, lead to an inability to look after the child's physical and emotional wellbeing. This is often for a short temporary period, however for some individuals it can be more prolonged. What is your experience? How does a parent's poor mental health affect a child?
Bugalugs
Of course it does. it can lead to neglect, wsexual, physical and mental abuse. Of course things like alcohol and drugs don't help do they? We have an increasing problem in which children, some as young as 9 years old, are roaming the streets late at night committing crimes, being arrested and then the bleeding hearts come out and accuse the Police and all but those responsible for the problem!
The Police and othes are so scared of being accused of racism that they dare not ask the Most Important Question of All.
Where are the Parents whilst their children are running amok?
I'll tell you where they are. They are at home blind drunk or drugged, both are mental health issues.

The subject of shells was raised on this site, with some people feeling all shells should be left at the beach. I returned from overseas once and had to go through immigration and customs in Darwin, where the customs officers walked along the line of passengers with a large plastic bin asking for shells and coral. Shells considered too small were kept along with all coral, but the coral jewellery was sold in jewellery shops in the country I had visited, and the shells...

As I have got older, I have sometimes felt that I haven't been "successful" at anything throughout my life. I am not a lawyer, or a doctor, I don't have a University Degree, I am not rich, I have no specific "talents," have won no awards for anything, don't own property or flash cars. I am just an ordinary human being, who tries to live a "good" life (whatever that is!) as I move along this journey between birth and death. How do you define "success?" Do you measure...
Saara F
I guess we all think that way at some stage in life. We have not moved mountains so we think we have not achieved success however success is not based on what we have not done. Success is being happy. Success is confidence. Success is raising healthy kids. Success is much more than being top of the class. Success is getting through life in one piece and so much more.

Debt can be a double-edged sword for many young adults starting their careers. With lower wages, fewer savings, and limited access to safety net supports, young people often struggle to achieve financial stability. What do you think are the main reasons why young people are struggling with debt?
Lynette W 328802
Because their money is paid into an account it is only a number. They never actually see the cash as in the old days when your pay was in an envelope and you could see it!!

Life is very different now than it was in the past, when leaving your children an inheritance was common practice. I still see many adult children who seem to consider an inheritance an "entitlement" whether or not their parents can realistically afford to leave them one. Some choose a retirement village setting, others need a higher level of...

With the way things are so different today, would you push your children to go to University or College versus guiding them on becoming their own boss? If they choose to go to post secondary, they accumulate a large debt and are not guaranteed employment. However, if you follow the trends today and utilize social media...

I think college, trades, and university will become a thing of the past - when AI reaches its full potential. I think going into the military for twenty years and getting a livable pension will become the norm - as their will be more wars over dwindling natural resources and ever-increasing population. Also, becoming a police officer will become your second mandatory option for twenty years which will give you another livable pension - crowd control will become an issue as the fight for dwindling natural resources will become more intensified with an ever-increasing population. The not-so-distant future will be a dark and ugly place for the overwhelming majority of people - not because of AI - but because humans are incapable of learning from our past mistakes and our luck as a specie will finally RUN OUT!

My question is: Should seniors choose large dogs vs 20lb and under? I was walking my dog and I often see seniors walking their dog. What I am surprised to see are seniors walking huge dogs - like German shepherds. Great Danes, boxers, golden retrievers- and others. I often see elderly unable to manage their large dog - due to strength - mobility, etc. should seniors stick with small dogs that are more manageable?

Anna K 32662
I had to except the fact that I had a Stroke. At age 39 I Stroked as my daughters and I were getting ready for the day. My daughers were only 12yrs and 7yrs old at the time. It did not happen right away, I was very angry, I spent 2 months in the Rehab Hospital. Every1 I knew except for 1 person avoided me like the plaque. After many years I finally gave in and excepted that I had Stroked, Im now a totally different person, but it took quite a few years for me to be where I am now. They do not know why I stroked, but I truly beleive that it saved my life. Without getting to much in to it, I was drinking all the time, getting into fights etc. I am now though a much happier person. I am now 62yrs old, and I do not think I would of made it this long if I was the same person I was right after I got out of rehab.

A lot of people these days are suffering from bad mental health, and people don't even realise. People with bad mental health will usually isolate themselves from others, and just want to be alone, even though what they need is to talk to someone. We should check that everyone is ok, because trust me, having bad mental health is like living a nightmare. What is your opinion on this topic?
JANET R 328390
Well I am probably going to stir some feathers here ... but I honestly think a lot of the problem is our current lifestyle. So many people are controlled by either their mobile phone or social media. People used to get out more. People used to have gardens that they could enjoy and these days a lot of people are living in either apartments or pokey little places or houses all up against one another...I have even read articles from Experts that this type of living can cause depression and mental health issues. Don't worry I am expecting some negative response ....... it is just what I believe. I fully understand that the days of big gardens are out - but I feel they have gone to the other extreme.

My husband and I have disagreed, he thinks the lint is actually growing all the time, I am not sure how it could be growing Does anyone else have to fight lint every day all day long in the home where they live. Just using a vacuum every day is not enough. What does others suggest about this??
Shawn B 1061185
While I don't have a lint problem at home, I used to work at a university that did have a real problem. The lint bunnies grew so large that they hissed at the students passing by. I also heard that a student was actually attacked by one, but there is no proof.

So I've given up smoking gone to vaping to help my urge to have a cigarette, yet I still get judged for vaping. Don't like vaping, don't vape Don't like smoking, then don't smoke. Like it's so simple. Some need to stop pushing their opinions on others, right?

It is of course your right to smoke or vape, but do bear in mind that others don't like the smell, so it's best to do it where it won't bother others.

Do you think being left-handed has more advantages than being right-handed? Think about Nadal being a left-handed world champion tennis player and how his dad and uncle forced him to play left-handed when he was a young boy. Do you think a child should be forced to be left-handed and then end up being ambidexterous?
Zebra
I am ambidextrous.
I was forced while in school to choose either one not both.
This was hard for me growing up, yet through the years, I grew up I would practice with both hands, while not in school.
So glad I never let these teachers stumble me into only using one hand.

Has anyone experienced children, being so rude around you & their parents/carers can see what they are doing & they don't make the child to stop? In my opinion, what are as a parent/carer to allow this in the 1st place? If you're sitting in any public transport for example, the child kicks the back seat behind you or throw you their rubbish, just enough to the stage you had enough. You as a person turn your head to speak to the parent/carer & they don't care. This isn't right,...
Andrew T 123623
That why our generation behave themselves (baby boomers)because we knew we would get a clip behind the ear. But in this PC world you can do this know so I blame the younger generation for this.
If they kick the back of my seat I would turn around and say if you keep this up I will brake your legs. If they are front with a reclining seat I would tip reclining seat saying I was getting up accidents happen Nd with rubbish I would throw my rubbish on them.
You may get it I am not PC and I will call a spade a spade and don't care who I may offend. Not one should have to put up with that kind behaviour.

I am just wondering how people in this situation of when are children too young to be taking medication for ADHD, autism etc. my granddaughter is 7 and her mum wants her on medication. Plus now she's talking about putting her 4-year-old and 2-year-old as well. When is it too soon?
doug p 631197
Personally I wouldn't give kids man made chemicals to sort out a natural chemical imbalance they already have thats been diagnosed. I think it would lead to problems later down the track being on drugs from an early age.
40 or 50 years ago you didn't here about adhd or autism until someone unleashed it on the world, now everything a kid does that we used to do as kids is labeled.
Maybe they should look at the food that is consumed by the kids as to the causes of their labeled diagnosis.

I have recently heard of something like debt recycling. If you then borrow the same amount and invest it, you're essentially replacing the inefficient debt with a debt that is tax-deductible and could potentially generate wealth. What are your thoughts? How to get out of debt and get rich?
DruidsTree76
First thing , to become rich is to put some of one's own income away ( save it) also known as the long way.
Second thing , borrowing someone else's money is a quick way of becoming in debt, once you are in debt , in is near impossible to become rich.
Borrowing more money, and investing it, is no guarantee of getting out of the original debt , and becoming rich. It may end up worse off and owing more debt.
Remember this simple philosophy : If one can keep a roof over one's head ( rent/ mortgage), pay one's utilities ( electricity/ gas/ phone/ water etc) ,if one can feed and clothe one's self, then one is rich!
Thankyou for listening to my Ted talk.

I have this issue with doing washing every single day for our now 11 and a half year old. The GP says it's a phase that he will overcome. My girlfriend wants to keep on using these night pant products called dry nights.... I told her that we would be better off taking him to a pediatrician or something alike... Being our first, my question is does make a near 12-year-old wear these products to bed do more harm than good? He also has camp coming up in late August......
Liane H
It's quite common in boys, My son was the same. Except we didn't have those in that sizing back then so it was bed liners and washing each day . There is a nasal spray that can help to slow things down, but basically in most cases it's simply hormonal,( the hormone responsible for concentrating the urine overnight is less present than it should be) and you will find once the 12yr mark kicks in or soon after ,. It will just stop. It's very frustrating I do remember ,but it's important not to let your child feel like it's an issue, They can't help it, It's not from trauma and it's not going to help restricting drinks before bed either. There are plenty of tips online . Don't bother with the bell and pad system either,, all it does is wake the child up when they wet with an alarm and interrupts their sleep often twice a night, more! .. not worth it . As I say it will just miraculously stop once his hormones kick in . Hope that helps some :)

Education is rightly seen as one of the best ways to develop a country s economy, as more productive workers can create better living standards for everyone. But is there a limit to the benefits of education, and should countries be wary of this double-edged sword? Are we overeducated?

And today teachers are wanting smaller classes and more pay and our kids are suffering in all this, along with their parents !

They fear for their lives every day as they can't touch the little darlings that get away with a hell of a lot more than we did when we went to school. There is no discipline at all any where, kids these day aren't even scared of the police. They go to court, they are out on bail and commit the same crime over and over again. Unfortunately they are not killing themselves but innocent hard working people that deserve so much more out of life than what has been dished out. Clearly wrong time, wrong place. Then you ask why are the teachers protesting? Give me strength come on the answer is so simple. I would not be a teacher these days and the ones I do know have had a gut full. They are constantly being told to `F' off on a daily basis, told they are ugly and then they swing off their arms causing the teacher pain. Grabbing their arms and then using all their weight to pull them over. Not getting any better that is for sure and so they should want smaller classes and more money. At least they can't bring guns into the schools but other weapons like swords, machetes, knives, flick blades, knuckle busters are found on a daily basis. And again you want to know why the teachers are striking? You try teaching them, you try home schooling your little darling and I see how long you last.

A new advert I've just seen...the FIRST bottle to use 100% rHDPE plastic!!! (rHDPE is recycled High Density Polyethlene)...sounds great right?....what these creeps are ACTUALLY doing is making bottles that are 50% rHDPE...and half VIRGIN plastic...but the recycled component is rHDPE....with people like this "helping" it's going to be a long hard battle to recycle our plastic waste just cowboys making a quick buck out of lying...

All current plastic produces can be made from Hemp that grows in 3-5 months and 100% degrades to nothing in 75 days

Some economists argue that raising the minimum wage artificially creates imbalances in the labour market and leads to inflation. Other economists note that when minimum wages have been raised historically, inflation did not follow. It s getting impossible to live. So many people are working 2 to 4 jobs just to be able to survive. What can we change do to make life more affordable for everyone?

The Victorian government (Australia) have just provided themselves a huge pay rise yet they are telling all Victorians we are now going to need to tighten our belts and pay for the pandemic (which they enforced). Where is the fairness in that?

Yes, for a very long time now, on and off. I was very young when it first started after my father was killed. The loss so great to me, I called it my hole. A space inside me left behind that was his place. Over the years I fell into that hole, so easy to step into, but so hard to crawl out of. Filled with hurt, anger, loss and shame. The shame came from still hurting but those around me assuming that I would forget, get on with my life, get better. I didn't so I learnt to...

Exhilleration and depression are polar opposites, i think, all humans experience both in life. Neither lasts forever unless we let it, which means we control how we experience life.
I have empathy for people who are experiencing depression ,but i believe we can control it and not be overwhelmed by it.

I was once a beneficiary of a will where 4 of us were to get equal shares until the testator became ill. My sister and I stayed in her home on alternate weeks, giving care for almost 3 years. I had to leave my husband every second week...he could have come with me only we had a few pets and he opted to stay at home. Trouble reared its head when the two other beneficiaries found out the will had been changed in our favour. They did not win in the end, but they caused a...

When eulogized or spoken of by family and real friends that know you best, what could they say that would be important for others to know about you first and foremost that was unique about you or something important you strived for or to be in your earthly life?

When I die please do not weep, for it's not me there, I do not sleep
I am the thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sun on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain,
when you awake in morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in morning light, I am the starshine, soft at night.
Please don't be sad and do not cry, for it's not me there, I will not die

What holistic approach have you tried instead of modern medicine that you swear by. You might have even gone so far as to share with friends or family what you do that helps you with your ailment. It doesn't have to be an edible/drinkable solution.......it could involve just physical activity.

I don't have any ailments but have always been a 'walker', miles and miles. Tried the gym but much prefer the open air.

The 'in' thing at school was a mince pie & packet of chips/crisps trend: Peel back pie top & scoop out the mince with a chip (eating mince like dip) Then put the chips in pie, top back on - chip pie - done & yum Seems weird now - did you have any 'weird' food combos?
Cely
I rarely bought lunch at school. But I have a yummy sanga that have been told its weird. It's a jam, cheese and vegemite sanga. It is so yummy. The sweetness of the jam takes away the saltiness of vegemite and visa versa.

What does everyone think of these people claiming that they re a sovereign citizen or similar and trying to use it as an excuse to not pay taxes, registration, and have licenses etc?
Linda C
They are anti government extremists. In Australia all of a sudden they seem to be voicing this and going to court but so far the courts have not agreed with any of their so called legal spiel. They believe they are not under the laws of the government, do not pay taxes, car registration, etc. however, they use the health system, roads, and everything the tax payer pays for. The police in this country are really getting fed up with them and the fact they use up our legal systems time. Some use it I think to get 15 minutes of fame, some use it to be recognised and get TV interviews so they can sprout more nonsense, and some I fear really believe this rubbish, and some just follow USA movements. I am so over all these conspiracy theorists, activists, etc. They are not helping the world at all.

There are some clothing fashions around that I find really ugly, and I always find myself wondering who on earth would buy them. It's not only the style, but the colours are mostly dull and uninspiring as well. At the end of each season, I have a bit of a laugh because I often see these ugly clothes in the clearance bin. Are there any fashions, if any, that make you cringe?

Men who wear suits, business shoes and NO socks. What's that about? Apart from having putrid feet at the end of the day.

Have you ever have the symptoms of a panic attack or severe anxiety to the point where you thought maybe it was more a heart attack than a physiological reaction to extreme stress? For many of the millions of sufferers of panic and anxiety attacks worldwide, it can really be a frightening experience to think you might actually be having a heart attack, which we all know can be fatal, if indeed it is your heart. Has this ever happened to you, and you care to share?
BLACK LIVES MATTER
I have had severe physiological reaction to extreme stress - but I grow up - in 'rough neighborhoods' in the USA. I was able to identify the 'stimulus' - as I got older - (alcohol abuse, criminal justice, systemic racism, street drugs, police, etc.). It is everyday life for a minority in the USA (coping with racial discrimination) - 'dealing' with severe anxiety - Blacks have the second lowest life expectancy in the USA! I (personally) never let it 'get' to the point (panic attack) - were I thought it was a heart attack or I would already be DOA at a hospital!

I recently spoke to a friend. She has decided to go into a nursing home as she dislikes living on her own. While her children see to her needs, she rarely sees her grandchildren. People go about their lives while working and going out etc. Could they spare half an hour a week or even a fortnight to visit their grandmother that is lonely? It is sad to see and hear how people act towards someone who once also had a full life.
Kerry Z
I liked the show on the ABC where they took the schoolchildren to visit the nursing homes. The people living there got so much out of it & the children also benefited from the intertactions.

Recently I found something in my corn chips from Coles. It was large, thick and dark brown. I kept thinking, please do not let it be that. I have to return it to Coles and get a refund. Four weeks ago, I found metal in my mouth after eating Asian noodles. I still could not believe that might have been in it. I have not reported the noodles. Have you ever had something like this happen to you?

I once had a bottle of bourbon that was subject to a recall because of glass fragments...I carefully strained 3/4s of it then took the remainder and exchanged it for a full bottle...I was very happy...

Tens of millions or even hundreds of millions of people were unemployed in the Great Depression. When the stock market crashed, failure of government policies, bank failures, the collapse of money supply, and the collapse of world trade due to the Smoot-Hawley Tariff in 1929 and the 1930s, many people in the world in the Great Depression are unemployed and/or losing their jobs. When the Great Depression ended in 1939 probably because of the world war,...

What can we do to reduce the changes and impacts that climate change had on our daily lives? In the pacific islands, low-lying islands are eventually covered with seawater and maybe in about 10 years time, lots of the islands will now be disappearing.

What a load of codswallop! ...... no such thing ...... Mother Nature will control the climate, not some 'nervous Nellies' who do not have a clue!

What does it mean to you - Buying from sellers that care about the environment. Buying from sellers that source their products locally & ethically. Making do with items that I have, rather than buying new ones. Buying only what I need to reduce my impact on environment. Mostly choose items that I will use for a long time. Grow my own food and also avoid food waste as much as possible. Or perhaps all the above Your thoughts please :-)

I have been frowned upon for buying Lego because it is plastic. I have lost count how much Lego has been passed from family to family, generation to generation and still is showing no signs of wear. Some of it has been walked over, the dog has carried Duplo around no teeth marks. It's outlasted "green" toys
