What ever happened to UNIONS? Why do they seem to have little say about Employment and Employees, these day's? I know they attracted much criticism in the past ...from mainly, Big business, politicians, other leaders, Media, but I think with less accountability by bosses, we need them more than ever! i think government and big business have made it so its near impossible for unions to operate,no power anymore,theres a reason 20 or 30 years ago,dad went to work,mum raised the kids and looked afer the home,one wage kept a roof on your familys head,food on the table,even a holiday someplace every year,maybe not overseas but a holiday some place nonetheless.
This is impossible today,prices through the roof,wages going nowhere,while executives get big fat bonuses for every job they cut.
I read someplace not long ago in the 60s and 70s bosses were paid 3 times the salary of a worker,now its hundreds of times more

Mixed feelings about that- it depends what they are being taught- if its to shoot and kill people and fixate on weapons then no but if its to teach hard work,fitness, team work, trade's, and helping people/communities in need in our country then yes for a year. And just to add it would need to be a "healthy" environment that doesn't secretly "allow" bullying and abuse.

Getting to sleep is very much like the type of dreams you have when you fall asleep.
The length of time it takes to get to sleep depends entirely on things like medical conditions, the amount of stress you were under that day, problems in your life, noise around you, and how active your mind is when you go to bed.
The best way to get a good night's sleep is to try to clear your mind of all worries before going to bed or failing that, to listen to some relaxing music in bed.
NO eating for at least one hour before going to bed, NO computer use for at least one hour before going to bed, leave your mobile ( cell ) phone in another room, NOT worry about things you have to do the next day instead write a list of those things before going to bed.
Having said all of that, I am the type of person who cares about others and worry a lot about things which are going on in the world and it takes me between one and four hours to get to sleep ( Living on a highway with traffic all day / night does not help either ).
As a result of this, I average 3 to 4 hours of sleep at night, then I get up and do surveys, then do whatever else I need to do that day then have 2 to 4 hours sleep during the day.
Counting sheep does not always work for some people because if you go to bed hungry then while you count the sheep they might start turning into lamb chops LOL

I walked away from my first marriage, ended up dating a few people and then decided I was not going to date anymore and just be by myself. Mainly because I didn't have a very good opinion of men in general. The day after I decided to stay on my own, a man walked up to me and started a conversation and it was like both of us knew instantly that we were the right people for each other, It was love at first site and we still love each other just as much 33 years later. He also changed my opinion of men.

My husband recently had a birthday and only one member of his family could be bothered to pick up the phone and wish him a happy birthday. All the others just sent a text message. I personally found this unacceptable. You have one birthday a year, how hard is it to do the right thing and at least pick up the phone and make a phone call?

A better option would be for people sending personal mail not just text message, email or a phone call. When possible meet in person for coffee cake or dinner would be my preferred birthday celebration. I often have to revert back to letters as all of my brothers and sisters are overseas.

I used to have thick hair but it has now thinned out. I think it's due to my anxiety and high stress. I'm always in a state of stress even if I am relaxing, always worrying about something. I suspect this is the cause of mine. I've tried supplements and I have had blood tests to check but nothing wrong there. What do others do to remedy this if anything?

I like to get out & go for a walk in nature, amongst the trees. Sit under a big tree or hug a big tree. Let all your worries & stress go then. Nature is a good healer in my opinion. with all due respect to rewardia panellists, I have a firm belief that folks who join the military or the police force are the ones who couldn't make it to be lawyers, doctors, architects, computer programmers and the list goes on.. Some of the police personnel make it to become politicians like the oaf Dutton, others rise in rank and become like the NSW deputy commissioner who stated lately in a televised news program that the police are tired of people breaking the quarantine rules (tired!!!!), srlsy? you are only issuing fines and nowadays all is computrized.

What's the best way to chop onions without crying? I can cope for a while by breathing through my mouth [for about 1/2 an onion], but if you have to chop up a lot for a stew or a casserole, what do you do then?

You need to peel the onion then sit it in the freezer for a couple of minutes then take it out and chop. No more tears.

What is it with parents these days? Odd baby names, whether names spelt wrong or using accepted surnames as first names. Some babies are even stuck with names of fruit or items in nature. Through the past years, children who have grown up with unusual first names have always developed psychological problems and have no direction in life. With all the acceptable baby names around, why make up new ones? What do others think?

What ever happened to good old rock n roll like in the 60 s & 70 s? The music today is enough to put you to sleep. Back in the day, the music would make you want to get up and dance. You didn t need to go to the gyms then, you would burn enough calories just by dancing and keeping fit at the same time. With go-go dancing, the twist and many other dances, nobody was overweight. There is an end in sight for COVID with vaccines rolling out. Our city is required to wear a mask in public places, but this will soon be ending. Should households be fined for too much waste going to landfill? Also should there be fines for those who don't recycle properly? I currently live in an apartment so it's a little harder, but I'm still stunned at how many people put bags of rubbish in the recycling bins that clearly are not paper, cardboard, plastic or glass. We used to have one (small) "dustbin" in the old days for all our household rubbish and sometimes that didn't even get full so we must have been better at recycling back then. Don't forget the backyard incinerators served a purpose and of course if you had a wood stove, well, all those old papers, cardboard and magazines were like free fuel to cook by or warm the house up. There weren't any drink cans and of course you took the soft drink bottles to the deli or where you bought your soft drinks from and had it deducted from your purchases. The rag man and other suchlike individuals would also call by periodically and relieve the households of such unwanted goods. We can almost say the in the old days recycling was a behind the scenes well functioning "industry" almost like backroom workers who were never acknowledged in the way they really deserved.

My mother works herself sick every year. There's no stopping her. We get to my parent's house and there's 10 different cookies, eight different kinds of candy made, four different desserts, and you can't see the table because of all the gifts she's wrapping. I do my best to take over at that point, but she's already coughing, exhausted, and sleep deprived from the two weeks of constant preparation before we arrived. What do you hate about Christmas?

Xmas has become way too commercialised for my liking. Always got to buy the latest gadget for loved ones, and they do not come cheap.Nowadays it seems to be about who can outdo who and not about the gifts themselves. I recently asked my Sister for suggestions for my Nephew's (who is 11) Christmas present which was a iPhone. I asked about other ideas as I feel that not only is it too expensive but at his age, he isn't responsible enough to own one, but she said he doesn't want anything else. Am I being unreasonable and a Grinch by not getting him one when I don't even own one myself and would have to go into debt to buy him one? I am not sure how to navigate this mine field...

I got half way through a BA after I left school and threw it in when I got a well-paying performing gig. Then I got half-way through a postgrad in journalism and threw that in when I started getting paid to write for publications. I value education but I don t think you necessarily *need* a degree to do well in life. Often work experience is more valuable to employers than anything theoretical. Thoughts? Do you believe one needs a university education in 2020?

It's sad that this question implies that dieting is normal - please love yourselves and don't fall into the trap of thinking that you need to be any kind of preferred 'normal' whether that be big, small or any combination of body shapes. When you die the only thing that matters is who you were which shouldn't be defined by appearance. Just aim for the kind of healthy that allows you the freedom to do the tasks you need to, have enough energy to get the job done and enough love and mental peace for those who mean the most.

I simply will not buy any Imported Meat, Fruit and Vegetables. If that means I have to go without something when it is out of season in Australia then so be it. Why support the economies of countries which don't give a damn about Australia? Why support Farmers in other countries when our own are doing it tough and in any case at least we know that our Farmers - be they Fruit, Veges or meats at least try to obey the rules when it comes to the use of Pesticides, Herbicides and other Carcinogens? Do we Really need those Grapes from the USA? Do we Really need that Asparagus from Peru or Mexico? Do we Really need that Pork from China and the USA? Of course we don't so Buy Australian!

I am Irish born and simply cannot believe the absurd amount of drama which has been generated, for which the media in general, but in particular those so-called "celbrities" from Commercial TV all chattering about a) How we should all behave and b) The terrible mental strain it has been for them! People, and in particular children and young ones, whinge about being alone, isolated and yet prior to Covid19 they all lived on their mobile phones - with one Adelaide family admitting the only way they could get their children out of their rooms (in the SAME house) to come to the dinner table was to contact them via their mobile phones! and now they are complaining as to how lonely and mentally stressed they are! What a load of nonsense and heaven help them and Australia if they ever have to face a Real War, be held in some ghastly prison camp with little food and no comfort!

When I was growing up, I wasn t given any expectations of moving out by a certain age, or at a certain stage. It was up to me or when I m ready. But some of my friends were expected to move out of home at 18 years old, others were expected the same when they found a full-time job. When did you move out of home? What were the expectations? I'll never forget hearing my stepmother say, "You're 18 now. You can get out.", or something very close to that. I married my boyfriend in March, after he turned 18 in February, found a studio apartment while he joined the Marines to support us (1966 during the Viet Nam war), and had to go to war in May. I got a job babysitting where I lived. Dad brought me groceries until I got an allotment check. And started my life of constant failures, not that my childhood was any better... ;-(

I spent a lot of time feeling resentful towards my parents for things I missed out on as a child. But now that I am older, I understand that they did their best, and I am grateful that they gave me a good education. This has given me opportunities I would not have had otherwise, and I know I am privileged to live a good life despite rising costs.

The 1 hour news starts with sport usually, if not you get a sports segment at 15 minutes, telling you about the sport that is coming on later.....then from not long after the half past you get ALL the sports, between that and the adverts there is not a lot of news and if you can sit through all that you FINALLY get to the weather forecast... If the showed the weather forecast first, I could then watch the first bit of news and switch off ! I HATE WATCHING SPORT

From experience boys that age love to run and jump and climb and ride\u2026 so Outdoors - Park/playgrounds, collect shells at the beach, bushwalks or short hikes out in nature. Gardening and planting seedlings or seeds in pots.

For my marriage it is helping each when you are sick. We have been married 43 years my husband got hurt at work then got COPD and emphysema, then I had 5 strokes was paralyzed after my 3rd stroke. He takes very good care of me. I\u2019m glad he knows how to cook. It was good before but you know it\u2019s real after.

Has anyone found out that the on and off ramps are supposed to be safe for all individuals who need to use them to help them on and off without getting hurt but if they are built like a slope, they become unsafe for them, especially downtowns. The people who built on and off ramps should at least have a pole or something people can grab a hold of to help them step up and down if they come across any of those on and off ramps, which aren't safe. Do you agree?

Yesterday, a lady rang talk back radio to tell the announcer she has given up driving because she no longer feels safe on Sydney roads. She said everyone tailgates, speed, make rude gestures and no-one has any manners. I happened to be driving at the time, and I disagree with her. Some people do tailgate, some honk and make rude gestures and are just plain unpleasant, but not all drivers. I don't speed, tailgate, honk or make rude gestures and if another driver gives way I wave to...

I'm with you. I always acknowledge drivers for acknowledging something I've done and vice versa. Although there have been many times when the little devil on my left shoulder wants to come out and say something but the little angel on my right shoulder always wins. I normally try and think what certain drivers are going to do before they do it. I do often say that the driver must be in a hurry for their own funeral or they must be very rich to pay for their fines and damages as well as mine. In the long run it really isn't that hard to be nice.

Would you eat insects? Companies are incorporating insects into food products. I have seen cricket crackers, chocolates made with ants, and bugs used for food colouring. Many of these food items are aimed at appealing to younger consumers. Even schools are offering insect snacks. What are your thoughts? Are you eager to eat or bake using insects?

No I think it is rank. Yes some countries / cultures eat insects, spiders and anything basically that walks the earth including dogs, cats, whales, dolphins, monkeys, birds, fish, in fact all wild life even if some are dangerous and life threatening. Now, companies want us to eat insects and down the track a few years we will be called out for diminishing the insects of the world.
The methane can be controlled from cattle, giraffes, elephants, sheep etc. by just adding a tiny bit of a certain seaweed that can be cultivated at a minimal cost but I guess the acreage can produce more vegetables and so a higher financial yield and hence the BS about us needing all to go vegan and eat insects.
Give me my meat any day. We developed eating meat which made our brains smarter. Maybe due to less meat being eaten, this is why people are becoming so much more stupider these days.

Not everything around us is cheap badly made rubbish designed to be thrown away in a few years and end up as landfill (OK a lot of it is!) but we have future antiques too things we take for granted and ignore that maybe your grandchildren will treasure...one example is our current "floating floor" laminated floorboards just about indestructible waterproof...the thing I noticed is that when it is installed it looks pretty good...but after 5 or 6 years of having dogs skidding...

No idea but as little as possible. Electricity is going up and up and they are saying there is not enough to go around yet they are bringing in EV by the 1000's so go figure. Putting up those horrible wind turbines which harm the environment and biodiversity let alone the animals and catch fire and are environmentally bad news and no discussion with the people who have to live near them. Then they say they are going to turn off the gas, no coal and we have the cleanest coal in the world and to top it off want to bring in nuclear which is so dangerous and I don't care what they say. How many have caused disasters around the world. Our electricity has gone up 100% in a very short time and going up again. Since they privatised it they have just taken the profits and run with them and left a mess for the taxpayer to pay for.

Our dishwasher broke down, so we had to get someone in. It was apparently an easy fix. 5 weeks later I have a new pump, new hoses, new clips and a new control board. If it hadn't been under warranty, none of this would have been done, and it would have been fixed in the first week. Are the tradies just ripping off the warranty providers?

1. Tradies are in demand. 2. Parts take awhile to arrive. 3. If it's under warranty what's the concern? You're not paying for it. 4. Appliances are now mass produced. Forget quality from the good old days. More parts, more technology = more problems.

I deliberately did not live up to the expectations my parents 'had' for me in life (since it was my life - not theirs) - which led to physical abuse. My parents got divorce - remarry other people and had more kids - which led to me being the odd kid OUT ( I know - Life is not FAIR - LOL). I became a runaway at 13 years old (when I finished the eighth grade in the USA). I will be estranged from my family this coming June (2024) - it will be 65 years (pain free - emotionally, mentally, physically, and psychologically) - let the good times (estrangement) - roll forever or least till I DIE! Estrangement from my family has elicited 'HAPPINESS AND JOY' - anyway - for me! In my case - reconciliation is N(EVER) going to happen (under any circumstances)!

I can kind of relate to what your asking because, at some point in the near future, I will be in a similar one, one in which my OWN children and my father, if I told him beforehand, would strongly oppose! I am one of 2 children and I'm the oldest by almost 2 years. Now I had my 5 kids early in life and my brother and his wife were in their mid to late 30's before they decided to become parents. When his youest child was just 10 my brother died in a vehicle crash at age 53. At that point he cut off his relationship with his grandchildren, my brother's children. I believe this was due to him hating my ex SIL as she had ended their marriage, but they were not yet divorced. I had to tell my father that my brother was dead, which was horrible, but it was NOT my SIL's fault that my brother chose to speed up the highway at 150 kms per hour as he was heading to see a woman that he had recently begun seeing. He still lived in a caravan on the property he owned with his current wife and it was VERY amicable and my SIL was aware of the woman my brother was going to see and she herself had begun a new relationship. This is important for the next part of the story. My brother had mental health problems throughout his life and my SIL had been extremely supportive and did everything she could to help him. Consequently she did a LOT of the parenting over the years. But when my father heard about their relationship ending he developed a hatred towards her because she was already in a relationship with a friend of theirs and after the actual funeral service, before his own grandchildren could come out and see him, he left. After that point he cut them off financially and hasn't seen them since before the death over 4 years ago. My father's Will now states that I get everything when he dies. Now this would be great for me as I don't own a home of my own and I could buy one, but it's NOT right and my intention is to go against my father's wishes and divide the Estate in 2, giving my neices and nephew what they would have been entitled to had their father not died. It will mean that my own children will get less between them once I too die however it is the ONLY way I can live with! Thanks for reading and I apologise for it being so long!

I see so many Parents/Carers who supposes to look after young children, that they really don't. All they do is play on their phones or other gadgets constantly. Even it comes to crossing the roads. They don't hold their hands, but glare into their phone. This isn't right at look. Now that the warmer weather has approached, kids love water. It takes only a second for a child to drown. People leave kids to do whatever these days. Parents/Carers should be made countable...

I have not been out for 'lunch', since December of 2019 (when Covid19 first made its ugly appearance in USA). Officially, Covid19 is over in USA. Unofficially, Covid19 - finished in fourth place (2022) in number of Americans killed by a disease (aka a virus) - last year. I still see people who are wearing mask - in public. I am still wearing a mask - in public - because hundreds of people are still dying from Covid19 on a daily basis in USA. I have a SEVERE IMPAIRED IMMUNE SYSTEM - WHICH LEADS ME OPEN TO CATCHING COVID19 WITH FATAL CONSEQUENCES FOR ME. I have not been in a restaurant (any type of restaurant) for almost four years and I do not see myself going into a restaurant (anytime soon) - until Covid19 is effecting less than one percent of the population in USA!

Both my spouse and I met later in life, neither one of us had ever been married before. Curious if the way we navigate our relationship is the same as those that get married in their 20s, or if being more mature changes things. no confidence what so ever, I won't even do internet banking. when you have been hacked, you are SO cautious, I have the majority of my bills direct debit, all the rest, PayPal, I don't take any chances. I disagree with the idea that parents are unwilling to listen to their children s trauma. No parent is perfect. However, if you bring a child into the world your first priority should be, always being present. Stop telling your kids that even if you were absent through their childhood, that you invested into them financially. Kids have no sense what the value of money is. I bought my Samsung washing machine in 1993. It's still going strong, has some rusted panels and stopped spin drying about 10 years ago. Probably slipped or snapped the drive belt. I'm not worried. I live in Queensland, where the sun always shines, so I just hang my washing out to drip-dry. The other thing I learned is to use a laundry disinfectant, Canesten, Pine O Cleen or Dettol when you have an old machine. Works well. How is your washing machine...

It s getting that way now if we need to see a doctor, and you have only just moved to a rural town, you have to go on a waiting list. Old doctors are retiring and generally not being replaced. We are on a waiting list of at least 300. And we have only been here for nine months! All the fines that the government manage to collect through their revenue raising schemes should be put towards the health/hospital system and if anything is left over, fix the bloody roads!

It can be a nightmare to see a doctor in rural towns. And to make things worse, in our town the clinic insists that if you need to book an appointment, you need to ring up at a quarter to nine in the morning so they can slot you in. Any other time you ring up they simply brush you off and tell you to call at that specific time the next day. Trouble is, you try to ring at that time, and every man and his dog is also trying to ring through, and the line is so busy you can never get through. It's crazy. And now even pensioners are asked to pay a gap fee to see a doctor. There's no bulk billing anymore. As if everyone is not financially stretched enough at this time due to inflation!! I can see many people not bothering to see a doctor at all now when they really should be, and then getting really sick, perhaps even dying. Clearly $20 might not seem a big deal to politicians and to those running the clinic, but it's a lot of money to pensioners. And if you arrange a consultation via telephone the gap fee is even more - $27. How do they work that one out? I thought the whole point of tele-health appointments was to encourage people to take it up, especially with COVID over the last few years. But why do this when it's cheaper to physically see the doctor?

Isn't the problem today that people want their McMansion, a huge house with 6 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, 3 car - they must, of course, be BMWs, Mercedes 4WDs - Garages, the obligatory Pool, Top-of-the-range BBQ, A kitchen with the latest hi-tech, most expensive equipment, a den, an office, a rumpus room, a formal lounge or two. Yes, you can have all trhat straight away IF you win Lotto but you know that is in all probability not going to happen.
Our parents started Small and gradually over the years moved into, if not bigger, certainly better houses. Today's younger people want, no they Need, Instant Gratification, they think they are Entitled to it - despite not having the money to pay for it.
As we have seen in Australia, and reportedly overseas as well, there was a huge spike in the price of houses in recent years, Interest Rates were low, and Yes, Australia's Reserve Bank told us that they would remain low until at least 2024 which was wrong but it was inevitable they would start to go up sometime. Young people kept on borrowing huge amounts of money without giving a thought to the future. They wanted and "Must Have" everything. Interest Rates started to rise and have kept rising. House Prices are dropping, wages are remaining stagnant and now people are in trouble. Their houses are now worth less than what they owe the banks, eventually people won't be able to keep up the payments, the banks will foreclose and then what? People will start demanding that "The Government does something". I make no apology for writing this, but people have brought this on themselves. Greed and Self-Gratification are now the God Kings.

The latest issue was about a two year old walking on his own. Why is this happening when we trust these people with our children? Someone I know was training as a teacher and was placed at a childcare Centre as part of her training. She informed me that they left her with the children while they were on their mobile phone. Maybe I am just old fashioned but why do self-styled parents dump their trophy kids with strangers to rear them? Yes, I know all about that phony claim that couples need two highly paid jobs just to live - at the same time we hear endless complaints by one or other of them that "Child Care costs absorb all of one of our incomes"! Since when was it unacceptable for one of the parents to stay at home and do the rearing themselves? Why do so many of these highly paid people think that "The Government" - read "Other Taxpayers" should pay for the rearing of their children? Don't want to bring up your own children? Then don't have any. Make up your minds. Is it Career or Family you want? What makes these people think they are "Entitled to both? You have a $1 million mortgage? Do you really need that 6 bedroom, 7 bathroom, 4 Car Garage, the Pool, the 3, 4 or 5 Entertainment areas? What is wrong with starting out with a modest house, car and Planned Children whom you are prepared to look after yourselves?

There are too many toys on the market for children that don t really encourage proper play for social, physical, emotional and cognitive development. They are more marketed products that children only maintain interest in for a short while, or make children believe they need more of that brand.

Potatoes are easy to grow and keep down the weeds as well ... plant some a few weeks apart as to have new ones constantly coming up and just dig up what you immediately need ... treat the ground as your cellar ... can do the same with lettuce as well, just peel off as in break off what you need, try not to cut it with a knife so it doesn't start going brown ... I do the same with the ones in the fridge, they last fresh longer.

Since Christmas, I no longer received a hard copy of Woolworths catalogue in my letterbox. Whilst I agree with the environmental benefits of not wasting papers, I do miss seeing the hard copy. I know I can go online to look at the weekly specials, like what I have done with Coles for the last 12 months, I find that I actually stopped going to both supermarkets. In the past, the specials in the catalogue would be the main factor for me deciding which supermarket to visit...

YES! Paper/physical copies are so much better. You can keep them around as long as you want, earmark pages you like, and it's easier to go back and forth. Online isn't the same. Environmental bs is just that: bs. Paper is recyclable and technology is made from plastic and fossil fuels anyway.

Maybe there are more people now than there used to be. I have no idea how people can afford to take their families when everyone says how poor they are! Secondly, nothing is the same the second time. I lived in Sydney for six months with my fiancée, and it was a wonderful time. I know if I went back, it would never be the same. Besides, we're divorced now. I've read a bit lately about how it is harder to make friends later in life. I have a couple of friends I would consider close, i.e. ones I can talk about personal things. The rest are more along the lines of colleagues/ that I mostly met via previous jobs, but who I wouldn't consider close. They are more Facebook friends and who I sometimes chat with over messenger, comment on their posts etc, but not ones I see regularly in real life. How about you ? .

I have one close friend whom I met because she is my caregiver. She has lived in this area for years, but I never met her before. We absolutely love each other and share pretty much everything! God works in mysterious ways. Her son and granddaughters are good friends now too! I finally have a family again!

Supermarkets stopped giving away plastic bags...and started selling them instead...nice and cheap..." Do you want bags?" ....and most people are just buying bags now as well....they are reusable....just like the ones they replaced...the supermarket makes more money....and we just carry on dumping plastic bags into our waste...but now they are a bit stronger and durable...because we had to pay for them.......is there something wrong with this picture?

Here in WA come July I think, shops are not allow to sell the bags or use them. Woolworths has started doing this and when their supplies out will not be replaced. We use our own bags or have crates for heavy stuff.

But I have lived in a small town that had the attitude that you don't belong here and why are you here. I love this town where the postie knows me if something has the wrong address on it, he checks, if we are in town for the day they put any parcels around the back. I have found that it doesn't matter where you live as long as you are happy and at ease with yourself. Before I met the good lady I used to skip from town to town as if chasing a dream, never content with myself, looking for something I could never find. Then I met a lady that changed all that, and the town, or the people, doesn't seem to matter anymore. I found that happiness comes from within and the world at large doesn't matter that much.

How do you resolve them? I am generally pretty laid back and let most stuff go, however, my partner is comfortable with uncomfortable conversations, so got up this morning at 2 am to yell at a barking dog. Do we go over there this afternoon and talk to the neighbors, or just let it go? I know you can't stop a dog barking if you're not home, but this was 1.30 until he yelled at the dog at 2am. They were home, they must have heard it.

Report it to the council if it continues. Let them deal with it. There are some dogs that can keep barking for hours, and it's sad really because they are the ones being neglected. Some people just shouldn't have pets of any kind.

I do, but not as much as before. The secondhand shops keep raising their prices, and sometimes not worth the price.

Here we are, again. That time of year, ALREADY?!?! Anyways, in keeping with the spirit of recycling: What's everyone having on the table for eats on the big day? At the moment I've got two definite and 2 more maybe's, tummies to fill, +/- extras, and we're having Roasted Fish Fillets with Asian slaw, Roast Potatoes and Garlic and Green Goddess dressing. There is so much going on in the world at the moment... Russian troops on the borders of several countries.. British troops in Poland... is China going to lose the Winter Olympics games?..what are the Arab states up to ... and are they trustworthy ... North America is in turmoil over several issues ... why isn't anyone here talking about any of it?

Over 600,000 Australians suffer from a hoarding disorder. The rest of us may not be hoarders but there are other complicated attachments to things that we have. How much stuff do you have? What happens when we don't own stuff but the stuff starts to own us?

I used to be a hoarders when i live with my parents and when we more out i start to give away the stuffs to smith family/etc. I find out make me more happy to give away them keeping things i never used or keep for nothings.

Its our time to shine, to work together within our communities to see that no one is isolated and left behind. Now is a great time for people to give not only to those who don't have enough but to show Unity. Some people have money to give and others have time. Put those things together and what could you do personally to help your community or street? I love the idea of food packs/rations of essentials or even a book swap.

I think that we as a society have become more self centred and poverty and grief, if we don't actually SEE it, becomes "out of sight and out of mind". We have been conditioned over the past 20 months or so to fear one another because we might "catch" something and because of this fear for our own health and our family's health we don't go up to someone and ask them if they're OK or if there's something we can do for them preferring to do, as I believe one of the Health Officials for government stated "don't stop and talk to anyone, just do what you have to and go home", something I thought was atrocious at the time and still do. If we lose our humanity then who cares if we get sick or not! Our isolation has not only caused the suicide and raging mental health crisis we now have in our country and around the world but a pandemic of loneliness. More people, not less, will be mourning this Christmas and, for them, I pray that Christmas passes quickly. We all have a choice to make as to whether we shut the curtains and keep out the world or do we contribute in whatever way is possible for us and help at least one human being today? Choice is ours!
